A Study on the Dynamic Export Yard Planning Considering Pattern of Coming-in Containers (반입 패턴을 고려한 동적 수출 장치장 운영 계획에 관한 연구)

  • The productivity of container terminal is usually regarded same as the productivity of quay crane. Operation of quay crane for the export is started from picking up a container in yard block. In doing so, smooth flow of container is vital to maximize the productivity of quay crane. Improvement of quay crane's productivity means improvement of entire productivity in container terminal, which reinforces the competitiveness of terminal consequently. Setting effective plan is essential to improve work flow from yard to quay crane. For optimal plan, it is necessary to gather information about exact time schedule of come-and-go containers for loading, amount of containers that will be come to terminal. Generally, the arrival time of containers and the amount of containers are definite and predictable. However, in the case of export container, the arrival time of containers is random and unpredictable. This study examines the pattern of coming-in containers as time goes in container yard and provides the solution to how to plan export yard considering the change of state in terminal and adapt it to container yard plan

  • The berth and crane scheduling problem in a container terminal encompasses the whole process of assigning berth to each ship. determining the duration of berthing, assigning container cranes to each ship, and determining the specific start and end time of each crane service, for all the ships scheduled to be arriving at the terminal during a certain scheduling horizon. This problem is basically a constraint satisfaction problem in which all the constraints should be satisfied. However, it is also an optimization problem because the requested arrival and departure time should be met for as many of the scheduled ships as possible. while the operation cost of the terminal should be minimized. In this paper. I present an effective approach to solving this problem, which combines both constraint satisfaction search and iterative improvement search. I test this method on a real world container terminal problem and the results show that the method can produce better results than any other existing method.

An Optimal Control of Container Crane Using Evolution Strategy (진화전략을 이용한 컨테이너 크레인의 최적제어에 관한 연구)

  • During the operation of crane system in container yard, the objective is to transport the load to a goal position as quick as possible without rope oscillation. The container crane is generally operated by an expert operator, but recently an automatic control system with high speed and rapid transportation is required. Therefore, we developed an optimal controller which has to control the crane system with disturbances. In this paper, we present a design of optima 2-DOF PID controller for the control of gantry crane which has to control swing motion and trolley position. We used evolution strategy(ES) to tune the parameters of 2-DOF PID controller. It was compared with general PID controller. The computer simulations show that the proposed method has better performances than the other method.

  • In this paper we present an interpolation-LQ control technique which tunes continuously the controller gain by interpolating the gains of sub-LQ controllers. The proposed controller design technique is applied to the container crane system for simulations. Several cases of simulations are carried out in order to prove the control effectiveness and robustness. The simulation results of the proposed controller are compared with those of LQ controllers. The results showed better control performance than those of LQ controllers.

  • This paper proposes a method for designing layout on the yard and evaluating alternative designs of the layout by applying simulation The design method is based on the concepts of the conventional port container terminal with yard layout. In general, yard design of the container terminal consists of the two major parts. One is to divide yard area between the number of sections and runs and the other is to decide the number of equipment including yard truck and yard crane. In the past days, this design was depended on the experience of the terminal operator and the reproduction of the conventional terminal layout because it is a very complex problem to be considering facilities and equipments. In this paper, we suggest a design method as a conceptual procedure used simulation method The number of sections and runs on yard area, the number of yard truck per container crane, and the number of yard crane per run are decided using simulation In addition, the traffic flow among blocks on yard layout is estimated in terms of rate.

  • 컨테이너의 효율적인 이송은 작업 시간이 곧 비용으로 연결되는 항만에서 가장 중요한 요소이다. 따라서 1990년대 중반부터 세계항만은 RMGC(Rail-Mounted Gantry Crane), RTGC(Rubber-Tired Gantry Crane)등의 크레인이 개발되어 야드에서 컨테이너를 적재하는데 널리 이용되어 오고 있으며, 특히 최근에는 CCD카메라, 각종 센서 둥을 이용하여 트랜스퍼 크레인의 무인화를 위해 수많은 연구가 진행되었고 실용화 된 많은 기술들이 현장에서 사용되고 있으나, 여전히 많은 부분이 연구를 필요로 한다. 특히 RTGC의 경우 RMGC에 비해 무인 자동화 연구개발은 미비한 수준이다. 따라서 본 논문에서 RTGC의 무인자동화 작업을 위한 가장 기초라고 볼 수 있는 수학적 모델링을 기반으로한 고정밀도 주행제어기를 설계하고자 한다.

  • This paper proposes a simulation model which evaluates operation plans of container terminal. The operation plans of container terminal consist of berth plan, load plan, unload plan, yard plan, and equipment plan. It is discussed how to apply the simulation method to evaluate those plans. Simulation analysis is based on data about plans from the operation planning system through an interface program. It is discussed what we should got in the simulation, for example, the statistics about container-handling equipment such as container cranes, transfer cranes, yard tractors, and trailers used in the transportation of containers.

  • 본 연구는, 복잡한 비선형시스템의 표현에 뛰어난 능력을 갖고 있는 TSK형 퍼지모델로 부터 전체시스템의 안정성을 보장할 수 있는 퍼지상태제어기의 설계방법을 제안한다. 그 퍼지상태제어기는 TSK형 퍼지모델과 같은 형태의 퍼지규칙들로 구성되며, 추론 방법 및 상태제어 파라미터 행렬을 구하는 방벙은 전체시스템의 상태천이행렬이 원하는 안정한 것이 될 수 있도록 정해진다. 또한 본 논문에서는, 현재 대부분이 숙련가에 의해 수동으로 조작되고 있는 컨테이너 크래인의 새로은 제어 방법을 제시하고 제안한 퍼지상태제어기를 적용한다.컨테이너 크래인의 모형을 만들어, 제어숙련가의 수동조작으로 결정되는 트롤리와 승강기의 규범속도를 퍼지모델로 표현하고, 트롤리와 승강기가 그 규범 속도에 따르도록 제안한 퍼지상태제어기로 제어한다. 제안된 방법을 실험한 결과 모형크레인의 궤적이 숙련가에 의해 만들어진 궤적과 매우 유사하게 됨을 알 수 있었다.

The Efficiency of Container Terminals in Busan and Gwangyang Port (부산항과 광양항의 컨테이너 터미널의 효율성)

  • This paper analyses the relative efficiency of 13 container terminals based on the data for the period 2003-8 to offer a fresh perspective. There has been abundant empirical research undertaken on the technical efficiency of Busan and Gwangyang port. Most studies have focused on the use of parametric and non-parametric techniques to analyse overall technical efficiency. Here, the framework assumes that terminals use two input to produce one output; the former includes container yard and container crane and the latter container volume. Jarque-Bera indicates that three variables are not normally distributed and the positive skewness shows that all the variables have long right tails. This means there are many small-scaled container terminals. This paper also employs heteroscedastic Tobit model to show the effect of the explanatory variables on the container terminal efficiencies. The Tobit model shows that both container yard and container cranes have positive effect on the container terminal efficiency, but container yard has a higher impact on the efficiency than the container crane.

  • In general, the design of container yard and container handling system on container terminal are focused on operation of shipside than service about chassis from outside(C/O). It is not efficient for chassis from outside. The purpose of this paper is functional assessment of efficient container terminal and for higher performance of container terminal. first, the items which are concerned with container handling at the planning of container terminal are investigated and extracted through the practical data analysis of container terminal. Also, verified problems of planning and present condition through the functional assessment. Secondly, the improvements for container throughput in container yard are proposed and examined the effectiveness of improvements about queuing time of chassis from outside and service time of transfer crane by the evaluation decision model based upon multi criteria objectives.
