Development of Program for Designing Barrel Cam of Machine Making Paper Cups (종이컵 성형기용 배럴 캠 설계 프로그램 개발)

  • A machine that makes paper cups has many parts, including a barrel cam, an index, and a turret. When the barrel cam, which is the main operating part of the machine, rotates, it pushes the roller fixed on the index, and paper cups are formed as the turret connected to the index rotates. Therefore, the performance of the machine is affected by the barrel cam. In this study, the program for designing barrel cam, which creates the profile of the cam is developed using MATLAB. This profile is used to develop a 3D CAD model by using a 3D CAD program. Dynamic models containing the barrel cam are created on the basis of the profile and 3D laser scan of the barrel cam. Further, the rotation angle of the index in the machine is measured using a high-speed camera. The rotation angles of the dynamics models are compared to verify the effectiveness of the program.

  • In this paper, It does the profile measurement of the cam of diesel engine SOHC of the actual object. It uses the measurement of run-out method. This method is that the surface of the object is measured by the sensor when the object rotate, and calculated and displayed by the computer the signal which acquired by sensor. When we acquire the signals, we have two error because of motion and contacting between cam and probe. In this paper, we compensate the motion error while simply liner equation. And we have a solution that we change the figure of probe when we have a contacting error. We compared the data measuring on developed automatic cam profile measuring system with the data measured on CMM.

  • It is very important that establishing the valve train equations and representing the behavior of the valve train parts. To maintain the specific efficiency of running engine, the cam profile of valve train has more specific influence on the adequate behavior of the valve train than a valve clearance, heat-resistance and durability of parts. The polynomial cam, the multipol cam and polydyne cam profie are widely used to represent cam behaviour. In this study, using polydyne cam design profile equations which is more adequate for representing high speed engine, the geometrical modeling and mathmatical variable analysis are established to analysis the valve behaviour.

  • Cam mechanisms are one of the most popular devices for generating irregular motion and are widely used in many industrial areas. The purpose of this study is the development of high precision measuring system fur measurement data acquisition and analysis of a manufactured cam profile. The developed system is composed of servo motor, CNC controller, rotary encoder, and laser interferometer And also, this system is non-contact measuring type. The developed system takes only 5 minutes to measure a cam profile and to analyze the measuring data while the CMM(coordinate measuring machine) takes about 1 hours even by a skilled operator.

  • Cam mechanisms are one of the most popular devices for generating irregular motion and are widely used in many automatic equipments, such as textile machinery, internal combustion engines and other automatic devices. In order to obtain the positive motion of follower by rotating cam, its shape should be correctly designed and manufactured. In present paper, a CAD/CAM system is developed for shape design of disk cams using relative velocity method and NC code generation using the biarc curve interpolation. And, a disk cam is successfully manufactured by the developed CAD/CAM system. Thus, it is shown that the developed CAD/CAM system can be used for high precision cam profile CNC grinding machine.

  • A earn profile grinding machine is a mandatory machine tool for manufacture of high precision contoured cam. Experimental evaluation of modal analysis is an effective tool to investigate dynamic behavior of a machine. This paper presents the measurement system and experimental investigation on the modal analysis of a grinding machine. The weak part of the machine is found by the experimental evaluation. The results provide structure modification data for good dynamic behaviors. And safety of the machine was confirmed by the modal analysis of modified machine design. Finally, the cam profile grinding machine was successfully developed.

  • A cam profile CNC grinding machine is developed for manufacture of high precision contoured cams. The developed machine is composed of the high precision spindle using boll bearings, the high stiffness box layer type bed and the three axis CNC controller with the high resolution AC servo motor. In this paper, structural and modal analysis for the developed machine is carried out to check the design criteria of the machine. The analysis is carried out by FEM simulation using the commercial software, CATIA V5. The machine is modeled by placing proper shell and solid finite elements. And also, this paper presents the measurement system and experimental investigation on the modal analysis of a grinding machine. The weak part of the machine is found by the experimental evaluation.   • The researches on the system that automatically records and retrieves one's everyday life is relatively actively worked recently. These systems, called personal memex or life log, usually entail dedicated devices such as SenseCam in MyLifeBits project. This research paid attention to the digital devices such as mobile phones, credit cards, and digital camera that people use everyday. The system enables a person to store everyday life systematically that are saved in the devices or the deviced-related web pages (e.g., phone records in the cellular phone company) and to refer this quickly later. The data collection agent in the proposed system, called MyMemex, collects the personal life log "web data" using the web services that the web sites provide and stores the web data into the server. The "file data" stored in the off-line digital devices are also loaded into the server. Each of the file data or web data is viewed as a memex event that can be described by 4W1H form. The different types of data in different services are transformed into the memex event data in 4W1H form. The memex event ontology is used in this transform. Users can sign in to the web server of this service to view their life logs in the chronological manner. Users can also search the life logs using keywords. Moreover, the life logs can be viewed as a diary or story style by converting the memex events to sentences. The related memex events are grouped to be displayed as an "episode" by a heuristic identification method. A result with high accuracy has been obtained by the experiment for the episode identification using the real life log data of one of the authors.

Comparative evaluation of marginal and internal fit of metal copings fabricated by various CAD/CAM methods (다양한 CAD/CAM 방식으로 제작한 금속하부구조물 간의 변연 및 내면 적합도 비교 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to compare the accuracy of four different metal copings fabricated by CAD/CAM technology and to evaluate clinical effectiveness. Materials and methods: Composite resin tooth of the maxillary central incisor was prepared for a metal ceramic crown and duplicated metal die was fabricated. Then scan the metal die for 12 times to obtain STL files using a confocal microscopy type oral scanner. Metal copings with a thickness of 0.5 mm and a cement space of $50{\mu}m$ were designed on a CAD program. The Co-Cr metal copings were fabricated by the following four methods: Wax pattern milling & Casting (WM), Resin pattern 3D Printing & casting (RP), Milling & Sintering (MS), Selective laser melting (SLM). Silicone replica technique was used to measure marginal and internal discrepancies. The data was statistically analyzed with One-way analysis of variance and appropriate post hoc test (Scheffe test) (${\alpha}=.05$). Results: Mean marginal discrepancy was significantly smaller in the Group WM ($27.66{\pm}9.85{\mu}m$) and Group MS ($28.88{\pm}10.13{\mu}m$) than in the Group RP ($38.09{\pm}11.14{\mu}m$). Mean cervical discrepancy was significantly smaller in the Group MS than in the Group RP. Mean axial discrepancy was significantly smaller in the Group WM and Group MS then in the Group RP and Group SLM. Mean incisal discrepancies was significantly smaller in the Group RP than in all other groups. Conclusion: The marginal and axial discrepancies of the Co-Cr coping fabricated by the Wax pattern milling and Milling/Sintering method were better than those of the other groups. The marginal, cervical and axial fit of Co-Cr copings in all groups are within a clinically acceptable range.
