A Study on the Effects of Consumer's Ethical Consumption and Social Trust Levels on the Performance of Cause-Related Marketing (소비자의 윤리적 소비성향과 사회신뢰수준이 기업의 공익연계 마케팅 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Cause-Related Marketing is the process of formulating and implementing marketing activities that are characterized by an offer from the firm to contribute a specified amount to a designated cause when customers engage in revenue-providing exchanges that satisfy organizational and individual objectives. Many companies obtain benefits such as increasing sales profits and fulfilling social responsibility activities from Cause-Related Marketing as a strategic marketing activity. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of message of Cause-Related Marketing on consumer attitude, and to examine the moderating effects of ethical consumption propensity, social trust and types of product(utilitarian vs. hedonic) on consumer's product attitude. The research results show that consumers tend to adopt a positive attitude towards those advertisements with Cause-Related Marketing message. In the meanwhile, the ethical consumption propensity and social trust also have moderating effects on Cause-Related Marketing message's influence, but the types of product have no moderating effect. Based on the findings, the theoretical and managerial implication are discussed. In addition, some limitations of this study and future research directions are discussed.

Evaluation of Anti-Smoking Public Relations Messages -An Exploratory Study On the Effects Using Televised Health Messages- (금연홍보 캠페인의 메시지 효과평가 -영상홍보물을 이용한 탐색적 연구-)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the anti-smoking message effects and smoking status on smoking belief attributes. Based on the health behavior theories such as theory of reasoned action, health belief model, and social cognitive theory, three factors are selected to investigate the effects of anti-smoking campaign messages. The balance of benefits and barriers, self-efficacy, and social pressure are selected as independent variables. Three two-way ANOVA were conducted. Results showed that the main effect of social pressure were found with the social smoking attributes. Interaction effects were found on the nonsmoker-social pressure group and the non-smoker-two sided message group. It is found that nonsmokers accepted these two anti-smoking messages easily as compared to smoker groups. No main smoking status was found in this study; it is believed that smoking is a habitual that is not changed easily because attitude formation takes time. Results revealed that the two-sided message video releases and the social pressure video releases were favored by both smokers and nonsmokers. This study contributes the theoretical framework that can be transferred to the practices of anti-smoking campaign. Also, the researcher produced the televised stimuli which is not common in health message studies. By using the televised message material, the research tried to solve the validity problem which is common in experimental design.

College Students' Perspectives on Femvertising through Focus Group Interview (한국 대학생들의 펨버타이징(femvertising) 관점에 대한 포커스 그룹 인터뷰 연구)

  • Femvertising campaigns are more easily observed in oversea rather than in Korea. Most recently, not only global companies but local consumer goods companies launched several femvertising campaigns. However, no research was done on effects of femvertising in Korea. Thus, this study will explore Korean college students' understanding of, attitude toward, and effects of femvertising through focus group interviews. Study results found that college students have low level of understanding on the concept of femvertising. However, they are somewhat familiar with contents of femvertising. Femvertising is believed to have positive impacts on gender equality and female empowerment whereas there are growing concerns over commercializing feminism. Study participants, regardless of gender, suggest that femvertising could influence consumers' attitude toward advertising and brand, but they are skeptical of purchase intention. Lastly, female participants suggest that femvertising, compared to traditional advertising, will enhance attitude toward ads and brand, and even have a positive impact on feminism. However, male participants suggest that femvertising may exacerbate the gender conflict between males and females which is called as 'misandry' or 'misogyny'.

The Advertising Effect on A.I. as an Endorser: Focusing on Innovativeness and Anthropomorphism of Consumer (인공지능(A.I.)의 보증인 광고효과 분석: 수용자의 혁신성과 의인화 영향을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify whether the endorser effect similar to humans can be created in advertising campaigns based on the artificial intelligence endorser. In particular, considering the characteristics of artificial intelligence, a research model was presented by convergence of consumer innovativeness and anthropomorphism. The results of the online survey of 244 respondents showed that expertise of the artificial intelligence endorser has a positive effect on both brand attitude and purchase intention, but not for trustworthiness while it has a positive effect on brand attitude. Also, the effect of consumer innovativeness and anthropomorphism on brand attitude and purchase intention for artificial intelligence was found. The endorser effect was expanded to artificial intelligence, which is an intangible object, and the existing theory and research results were combined to re-verify it. Theoretical and practical implications for artificial intelligence-based products and services were presented.

Comparison Study of Knowledge, Attitude and Motivation Between Blood Donors and Non-donors (헌혈자와 비헌혈자의 헌혈에 대한 지식, 태도 및 동기에 대한 비교)

  • This study was conducted to compare the date on knowledge, attitude and motivation toward blood donation between donors and nondonors. The study population included 622 donors and 322 nondonors who visited the mobile blood donation car of Taegu Red Cross Blood Center and participated the group appointed blood donation campaign managed by the center from March 1 to March 31, 1989. The donors and nondonors were questioned above mentioned items with a formulated questionnaire. Among the general characteristics of the subjects in the study, male predominace(84.1% in donors and 73.6% in nondonors) in young age group (16-24 years) was the outstanding feature. As a medium of information about blood donation, "television" was playing a dominant role(donors ; 75.2%, nondonors ; 78.9%), while "magazine"played more important roles among donors. Of the donors, 70.6% and of the nondonors, 58.1% replied that they had ever been induced to donate blood (p<0.01). Major inducers were friend and personnel of mobile blood donation vehicle. On the measuring of knowledge level, the average rates of correct answer was higher in donors (62.6%) than in nondonors (54.1%) (p<0.01). Higher the education level was presented, higher the knowledge level (p<0.05). There have been noticeable difference between donors and nondonors in blood replying the questionnaire set to measure their attitude toward blood donation. especially in the items such as "impression toward blood", "selection of transfusion blood source" and "view on the situation of blood shortage." The major motivation toward blood donation of the groups were "possible future need" and "altruism or humanitarian interest". The major reasons for not donating blood in both groups were "fear of the needle" and around to visit to mobile car or center."

Why to buy counterfeit luxury goods consumers have to spend? (소비자는 왜 위조명품을 구매하고 소비하는가?)

  • This study was to investigated why consumers buy counterfeit luxury goods, and to address questions about what was used. To this end, benefits consumers experience using counterfeit or what is profit? In addition, experience using counterfeit what is lost or dissatisfied? Based on the results of previous studies on the use counterfeit motivation, loss of use, benefits, and behavioral factors associated with motivation to learn using these counterfeit goods, benefits, and loss factor, each counterfeit product attitude and purchase intention was affects. First, the motivation for using counterfeit display, economics, satisfaction, usefulness, respectively. Counterfeiting in the attitude demonstrated motivation and quality had a significant impact. The economics of buying a counterfeit, satisfaction and quality significantly affected the motivation. Second, counterfeit benefits and economic benefits, personal benefits factor, respectively. Counterfeit goods on the attitude factor has significant effect personal benefit. Purchase of counterfeit goods, the economic and personal benefits also had a significant impact. Third, the loss factor counterfeit personal loss, quality loss, material loss, and social factors were lost. Attitude toward counterfeits were no significant factors that affect. The social cost of buying a factor had a significant impact. These findings on the behavior of consumers with counterfeit deep understanding helps. In addition, to reduce the future use of counterfeit campaign gives data that can be exploited.

A Study on Social Issues and Consumption Behavior Using Big Data (빅데이터를 활용한 사회적 이슈와 소비행동 연구)

  • This study conducted social network big data analysis to investigate consumer's perception of Japanese sporting goods related to Japanese boycott and to extract problems and variables by recognition. Social network big data analysis was conducted in two areas, "Japanese boycott" and "Japanese sporting goods". Months of data were collected and investigated. If you specify the research method, you will identify the issues of the times - keyword setting using social network analysis - clustering using CONCOR analysis using TEXTOM and Ucinet 6 programs - variable selection through expert meetings - questionnaire preparation and answering - and validity of questionnaire Reliability Verification - It consists of hypothesis verification using the structural model equation. Based on the results of using the big data of social networks, four variables of relevant characteristics, nationality, attitude, and consumption behavior were extracted. A total of 30 questions and 292 questionnaires were used for final hypothesis verification. As a result of the analysis, first, the boycott-related characteristics showed a positive relationship with nationality. Specifically, all of the characteristics related to boycotts (necessary boycott, sense of boycott, and perceived boycott benefits were positively related to nationality. In addition, nationality was found to have a positive relationship with consumption behavior.

A Study on Community Member Perception due to Impacts on Development of the Dulegil in Bukhansan National Park (북한산국립공원 둘레길 조성에 대한 지역주민의 인식에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze community members' perception due to impacts on use and development of Dulegil in Bukhansan National Park. The study was conducted by questionnaire survey sent to community members of the vicinity of Dulegil. Average score of positive impact on the local community was 3.2. Positive impacts mentioned by community members were 'heightened pride in their community with increased community image' and 'improvement of landscape and natural environment.' Improved residents' awareness of landscape and natural environment indicated that Dulegil almost accomplished intended goal of preservation of ecosystem. However, actual effects on ecosystem preservation and local economy were not perceptible yet. Score of negative impact was 2.8 on average. 'Traffic congestion' and 'increase in noise level' were considered the most serious among the negative impacts. Environmental pollution and destruction of vegetation in the lowland were deemed relatively bad. Regarding resident awareness of community, those in their 50s and older were quite satisfied with the community. However, young people showed lower level of satisfaction. In order to satisfy all ages, infrastructure and programs for the youth should be in place. To minimize negative awareness of impacts of Dulegil, visitor's attitude should be changed, and education and training on the value and mind set of horizontal hiking are required.

Comparison of the Ambiguous Advertising Messages Effect with Clear Advertising Messages (모호한 광고와 명료한 광고의 메시지효과 비교)

  • It has been assumed that the clarification of a message is a necessary element for successful communication. However, in the today's complicated and changing environment of business marketing media, it is shown that the clarification of the message of advertisement may inhibit the effectiveness of communication. This study was to examine what was effective communication in advertisement when the company, provoking the people's negative emotional response, needs to establish new identities such as the goals and the special fields of business. In particular, the study was to investigate what effect the advertising strategy of strategically emitting ambiguous messages makes on the consumer's recognition, emotional attitude, reliability, and attitude towards the company. It was hypothesized that an ambiguous message in an advertisement has an effect on the consumer's recognition, emotional attitude, reliability, and attitude towards the company. Three texts from the 'Imagination Praises' campaign of KT&G which has been in process since 2003 were systematically sampled and the survey was performed by the means of questionnaires made on the sample The results showed that the ambiguous message of advertising texts gained better responses on the consumer's attention, good impression, affirmation, memory, sympathy than the dear message and that the ambiguous message had an effect on the consumer's attitude towards the advertisement itself. Thus, it could be tentatively concluded that the ambiguous message could be more effective in recognition and recall to promote the changes of identities of the company having the people's unfavorable emotion. But there wasn't any evidence that an ambiguous message in an advertisement was more effective in terms of the consumer's emotional response, reliability, and attitude towards the company. From this, it could be inferred that the receiver had an uncomfortable, doubtful and negative attitude about the implicit expressive code contained in the message. In the future deeper qualitative studies can compensate for the limited explanation of this empirical study focused on statistical analyses.

A Comparison Counterfeit Goods use Behavior in Korea and China Consumer: focus on Motivation, Benefit and Cost Factor (한중 소비자의 위조품 구매태도 비교분석: 동기와 혜택 및 손실요인을 중심으로)

  • This study started why do consumers use the counterfeit goods. We executed the pretest through the depth interview, and made an purchase motivation scale, useful benefit factor and cost factor scale of counterfeit goods. We found out having the recognition difference of China consumers with Korea about these. The results is as follows. First, A counterfeit motivation appeared to the recognition difference appeared in a ostentation, economical efficiency and self-satisfaction factor with korea and china consumers. Second, counterfeit useful benefit factor organized to a personal significantly and economic benefit and the recognition difference appeared. Third, Counterfeit good useful cost composed to the personal good-quality, economic and social image of cost factors, and the recognition significantly difference appeared to all of cost factors with Korea and China consumers. These results are helpful for a depth understanding about the counterfeit use behavior, and will be utilized for the public campaign to reduce such behavior.
