Waste explosives such as useless ammunition discharged from the military and coproduced useless explosives during the manufacturers production process have been continuously produced. These are difficult to dispose with normal waste treatment facilities due to the dangers of fire and explosion. An open burning or an open detonation at military designated disposal facilities is a classical treatment method for the dangerous explosives. The classical method raises various environmental problems by the emission of hazardous materials. An air pollution by the emission of hazardous gases such as SOx and NOx, soil and water contaminations by the accumulation of non-biodegradable heavy metals, are representative pollution examples. To overcome these problems, various processes for eco-friendly waste treatment methods have been developed, and some processes have already been operated in some countries. In the current report, various eco-friendly disposal processes for waste explosives or harmful materials, and their advantages and disadvantages are documented to suggest future development directions for reducing the hazardous substances by the treatment processes.

To develop the microbial agents for the environmentally-friendly treatment and recycling of food waste, useful microorganisms, which showed higher degradation activities to various organic compounds and possessed flocculating activities, were isolated from the earthworm. One of the isolated strains, named JS-01, was further selected due to its higher flocculating activity against 0.5% Kaolin clay. JS-01 was identified as Bacillus pumilus sp. by 16s rDNA analysis. The optimal temperature and pH for the growth of JS-01 to express the flocculating activity was found to be at $37^{\circ}C$ in pH 7.0 of EPS broth medium. JS-01 also expressed good degrading activity against cellulose, which is one of the representative organic materials in food waste. We propose that JS-01 will be a good candidate for the efficient treatment of food waste and leachate due to the property to degrade cellulose and flocculating activity.

When increasing quantity of construction wastes, how to deal with construction wastes and environmental problems relating to disposal of construction wastes are discussed as social issues, treatment of construction waste and subsidiary issues are raised as important problems. The demolition work produce construction wastes most in construction industry. Various researches on eco-friendly treatment of construction wastes, recycling rates and recycled materials were conducted aspect of sustainability in developed countries, however, domestic remodeling projects were performed demolition work with first-demolition and second-classification method which emphasize productivity focused on efficiency. It caused not only environmental problems, but also economical problems such as increasing disposal cost of construction wastes. Solving these problems, the previous study, suggested the process model of eco-friendly demolition work to recycle materials. This paper applied eco-friendly remodeling process to practical projects and economic feasibility on eco-friendly remodeling process. Moreover these results expect to contribute the revitalization of eco-friendly demolition work in remodeling projects.
In this paper, we propose an application of RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) tag to food wastes disposal system of Cheongju city. The existing system of Cheongju city is monthly fixed amount levy system. The weak point of this system must pay a same commission in spite of each other different food wastes quantity. Also the accurate occurrence quantity of the food wastes and present condition grasp of control are impossible. It will not be able to reflect to a policy decision because does not manage the control of the food waste efficiently. On the other hand, when a food wastes measuring system using RFID is executed tag, it will manage and analyze automatically the obtained data. And collecting, transporting and handling of the food wastes come to be very easy. Also the reproduction and embezzlement of the tag are impossible. As a result of this system, it brings the decrement of the food waste. Therefore the economic effect could be come true and the food wastes is controlled environment-friendly. The food wastes disposal system using RFID tag will be able to contribute in u-city constructions with RFID/USN technology which pursues from the government.

In order to evaluate the environmental load occurring from the whole life cycle of a facility, LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) adopted by ISO is not only applied as an individual product but rather a complicated system involving buildings and/or infrastructure in a wide range of scope. The introducing of LCA to a wastewater reuse facility will assist to understand not only the treatment of water contaminants but also the overall system related to the interaction of involved, potential issues. This research implemented LCA for the establishment of the wastewater reuse facility. The results show that a fresh water aquatic Eco-toxicological Impact (88.3%) is the largest environment concern and the maintenance & operation phase has the most impact on the environment utilizing life cycle for the wastewater reuse facility. The civil works and chemical treatments in the maintenance & operation phase led to the biggest environmental impact. The results of this research can provide pertinent data of investigating opportunities for environmental improvement not limited to public officers regulating environmental policies, and could be used to make decisions for an environmentally sound and sustainable design in the initial phase of construction.

On account of increasing interest of substantiality in these day, it is needed to make an effort to establish an environmentally sustainable production system for the construction works. Although practical affairs and researches are in progress to reduce and recycle construction wastes, as a result of a research, there are still obstructive factors on waste reduction and recycling which they don't interact efficiently between waste disposal process of the construction area and waste disposal company. As a plan to revitalize reduction and recycling of construction wastes, this research focuses on finding obstructive factors and giving solutions to reduce and recycle construction wastes which comes from construction process and construction industries. To meet the needs of the research, firstly relatively significant construction wastes (concrete, soil, brick, block, asphalt, plastic, lumber) were identified. On site level interviews with management of disposal companies and construction sites were conducted as well, focusing on typical waste disposal process. Throughout this interviews, obstructive factors were conducted. A result of the research, the authors suggest an improved approach on disposal and recycling for construction waste by prioritizing the identified factors and ranking the importance level of each factor. And, by identifying factors obstructing reduction and recycle of construction wastes, this research suggests improved disposal process of construction waste.
In this study, an eco-friendly combustion process of waste 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT: 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene) was developed, and fundamental data for the quantity of the organic matter in the final combustion residues is presented. Because complete combustion of TNT is not possible theoretically, the combustion process was optimized to reduce organic matter content in the combustion residue by performing measures such as heating time changes, addition of propellant material, and after treatment using a high-temp electrical furnace. From the results, it was confirmed that the organic matter content in the residue could be decreased to 7 ~ 10% with each method. The quantity of the organic matter could be minimized by optimizing the combustion conditions of the process. With only a combustion time increase, the amount of organic matter in the combustion residues was measured at about 9 wt%. The environmental friendliness of the final exhaust gas was also confirmed by real time gas component analyses. In addition, the organic contents could be reduced by a further 2 wt% by applying an additional heat treatment using an external electric furnace after the first incineration treatment. In the combustion process of propellant added waste TNT, it was found that various TNT wastes could be treated using the same eco-friendly protocols because the organic content in the residue decreased in accordance with the amount of propellant. The amount of the organic matter content produced by all these methods fulfilled the requirements under the Waste Management Act.

Different kinds of solid rocket motors manufactured for various aim have their own shelf life. So they must be done away if not used. In general, ammonium perchlorate(AP) has used in the process of solid rocket motors, which is environmental pollutant. Out-burning and out-detonation were usual in the past, but they polluted the surrounding environment and raised safety issues. As an alternative to resolve these, water-washout process to separate the propellant from rocket motors and an eco-friendly way for recovering AP are studied in this paper.
