New technology is applied to make optimal pontic base which prevent inflammation and clean itself and its products were clinically evaluated in 10 places of dental clinics in busan and gyeongnam. The making of posterior 3 unit bridge pontic base, it was presented as the new technology of forming ridge lab type and to carry out clinical validation, existing conventional method and the new technology were compared. Pontic base made with the existing conventional method cause infection and other periodontal disease by 96% but the pontic base made with the new technology cause infection and other periodontal disease by 3%. Remains of food cause infection and other periodontal disease 100% by the existing conventional method and 91% by the new technology, showing a distinct difference. However, after a gargle, the new technology had low 13%. Additionally, the pontic base made with the existing conventional method showed 71% of chance, the new technology method showed 8% of chance in terms of self-cleansing.
The purpose of this study was to examine correlation between smoking and gingivitis in boy students targeting 281 students in the 2nd grade for vocational boys' high schools where are located in Cheongju city. As a result of carrying out questionnaire research and oral examination, the following conclusions were obtained. 1. The smoking-experience rate in subjects of this study accounted for 59.4%. The current smoking rate was indicated to be 41.3%. Students' average gingivitis prevalence accounted for 61.5%. Out of those students, the students with experience of smoking accounted for 44.8%. The average gingivitis index was $0.20{\pm}0.27$. Out of those students, the students with experience of smoking were indicated to be $0.29{\pm}0.31$. 2. In case of having experience of smoking, the probability of having gingivitis was high(p = 0.000). The more drinking experience led to the higher gingivitis prevalence(p = 0.010). 3. In the multi-variate analysis, a case of gingivitis prevalence was higher in the group with experience of smoking by 5.5 times(p = 0.000) compared to the non-smoking group. A case that the smoking volume for a day is over 6 pieces was higher by 8.4 times(p = 0.000) compared to the non-smoking group. A case of being over 25 months in the smoking period was higher 13.2 times(p = 0.000) compared to the non-smoking group.
This study conducted questionnaire survey with 268 workers in Ulsan city to examine influencing factors about Oral behavior and Missing teeth of some workers. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 12.0 program. The analysis results are as follows. 1. Oral health awareness was highest in thirties (p<0.01). For oral health sensitivity, female was higher than male (p<0.01). The lower the age was (p<0.05) and the higher the academic background was, there was statistically significant difference (p<0.01). 2. The lower the age was (p<0.001) and the higher the academic background was, the number of daily tooth brushing was more (p<0.001) and there was statistically significant difference. 3. The more the number of daily tooth brushing was, portion of Missing teeth was low (p<0.01). When oral hygiene devices such as interdental brush, dental floss etc. were used, portion of Missing teeth was low (p<0.01). When dental visit for prevention was made, portion of Missing teeth was low (p<0.05). In case of periodontal disease, portion of Missing teeth was high so that there was statistically significant difference (p<0.01). 4. There was positive relationship according to oral health awareness and oral health sensitivity, oral health status. The oral health status and Missing teeth had a negative effect relationship. Relationship between number of Tooth brushing and Missing teeth showed negative one. In summary, oral health education is needed to increase the motivation of industrial workers to control their basic dental disease.
The purpose of this study is to provide the basic date which is increase the number of revisits for scaling after analyzing factors that influence trend of dental revisits for 7 years. Research data was about 1,471 patients who visited S dental clinic in Seoul at 2007 for scaling. Data from January 2007 to December 2013 was collected. The subjects were divided into 3 groups by their trend in number of dental revisits for scaling: once, 2 times, 3~7 times. The data were analyzed using the chi-squire, independent-samples t-test and one-way ANOVA, binary logistic regression analysis. As a result, the trend of dental revisit for scaling is significantly decreased from first time to second time, and after 3rd time dental revisits were steadily continued. Factors affecting dental revisits for scaling are distance, family hospital, systemic disease, presence or absence of periodontal therapy. According to the results of the study, providing dental service in accordance with the patients' characteristics and increasing the dental revisits for scaling could give a positive influence to improvement of oral health.

Mental retardation is defined by the American Psychiatric Association as" subnormal general intellectual functioning which originates during the developmental period and is associated with impairment of either learning and social adjustment or maturation, or both." A patient with mild to moderate mental retardation can be managed adequately using restraints and medications. However, in case of severe or profound mental disability, dental treatment cannot be accomplished even with the use of behavior modification, physical restraints and sedation techniques. When treatment in the dental office has much difficulty, hospitalization for dental treatment under general anesthesia can and should be considered. This case presents the treatment of a patient with mental retardation who was referred to our department for comprehensive dental care. Dental examination revealed widespread dental caries and a severe anterior open bite with crowding problems. Under general anesthesia, generalized caries treatment was performed by our department, and the anterior dental esthetics was achieved in collaboration with the department of prosthodontic dentistry.
The purpose of this study was to understand the effectiveness of oral health education (OHE) or oral hygiene instruction (OHI) involving professional plaque control/removal, as compared to conventional plaque control/removal. By means of a systematic review of the literature, in the review of literature by using systematic method, Korean articles of plaque control including OHE or OHI, were studied in order to analyze and conclude the literature to enhance oral health. We found that self and professional plaque control/removal, in addition to tooth brushing instructions, decreased incidence and prevalence of loss of teeth. Taken together, professional mechanical plaque removals were most effective 4~5 visits every 1~2 weeks. Use of disclosing agent was more effective than oral education or model education. In line with oral hygiene education, professional brushing, oral prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, it was advisable to repeat the training according to the characteristics of the patient. Routine OHE or OHI would be help to increase to oral health. For a quality of life related oral health, reliability and validity of data are needed to develop and its data should be applied to dental health insurance policy.

The questionaire and dental examination were given to 782 industrial men-workers who visited Asan Medical Center for the purpose of health examinations in 2000. The obtained results were as follows; 1. According to the results of logistic regression analysis, both ages (especially under 30's: P=0.027) and monthly incomes (especially under 1,000,000 won: P=0.000) show negative relationships with the occurrence of dental caries. 2. As the results of logistic regression analysis, ages shows positive relationship and monthly incomes shows negative relationship (only under 1,000,000 won: P=0.059) with the occurrence of missing teeth. 3. According to the results of logistic regression analysis of periodontal disease, the model shows no significance (P=0.117). 4. As the results of logistic regression analysis, both monthly incomes and ages show positive relationships with the occurrence of abrasion.

In the status of reconition of oral hygiene devices, showed the highest user ratio of eletric toothbrush(77.0%). 6.
