As the society has been ageing, senile dementia increase rapidly. Thus social costs of dementia treatment and management increase exceedingly. There is a desperate need of finding out improvements.. For example, foreign countries come with the solutions about this issue by establishing national strategy about Dementia, setting effective Dementia Management in national level and preparing legal systems. Older Welfare Act, Long Term Care Insurance Act for the Aged and Dementia Management Act exist as legal system of improvements. Improvement about this issue is needed due to more effective Dementia management and pushing ahead policies. First of all, the government needs to include dementia checkup into the list of national health insurance checkup toward senior citizen of older than 65-year-old. Secondly, as one of the characteristics of dementia, when more symptoms of dementia appear, there is less effect of treatment. Therefore, in order to reduce the social costs of Dementia, the government needs to promote Dementia prevention industry and early checkups. Thirdly, there is a need of setting a class judgement standard appeasement policy and expansion of using target. The reason of processing this statement is that there are difficulties of satisfying the needs of senior citizens due to current conformity of long-term pay recuperation according to laws of welfare.

The number of dementia patients in Korea is estimated to be over 800,000, and the severity of dementia is becoming a social problem. However, no treatment or drug has yet been developed to cure dementia worldwide. The number of dementia patients is expected to increase further due to the rapid aging of the population. Currently, early detection of dementia and delaying the course of dementia symptoms is the best alternative. This study presented a methodology for early diagnosis of dementia by measuring and analyzing amyloid plaques. This vital protein can most clearly and early diagnose dementia in the retina through AI-based image analysis. We performed binary classification and multi-classification learning based on CNN on retina data. We also developed a deep learning algorithm that can diagnose dementia early based on pre-processed retinal data. Accuracy and recall of the deep learning model were verified, and as a result of the verification, and derived results that satisfy both recall and accuracy. In the future, we plan to continue the study based on clinical data of actual dementia patients, and the results of this study are expected to solve the dementia problem.

The purpose of this study was to identify the dementia knowledge, attitudes and preventive behaviors of hemodialysis patients. The participants were 128 hemodialysis patients at the Artificial Kidney Center in G hospital of P city. Data were collected by self-report questionnaires from September 22 to October 10, 2017. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and Hierarchical regression analysis with SPSS/WIN 23.0. Dementia knowledge was significantly different by education level (F=4.58, p<.01). The attitude toward dementia was different by age (F=3.08, p<.05) and education level (F=6.64, p<.01). The preventive behaviors were different by gender (t=-2.30, p<.05). Dementia knowledge was positively correlated with attitude toward to dementia (r=.189, p<.05) and attitude toward dementia was positively correlated with preventive behaviors (r=.280, p<.01). The influencing factor for preventive behaviors was attitude toward dementia (${\beta}=.319$, p<.01). Therefore, in order to promote dementia preventive behaviors in hemodialysis patients, an education program should be developed to improve dementia knowledge and positive attitude toward dementia.
Communication breakdown has been mentioned causing a heavy burden for dementia caregivers. This study aims to inspect and structure the process and results of communication between people with dementia and their caregivers. The impeding/facilitating elements of communication are also extracted. Interviews with 21 of dementia care experts about the direct and indirect experiences of communication with people with dementia were analyzed based on the grounded theory. Results show that combination of the cognitive and communication decline of the people with dementia, confusing environment and caregivers' inappropriate attitude and lack of communication skills leads to communication breakdown and relations severance. Minimal contacts and task-oriented conversation results in conflicts and people with dementia's increasing agitation, anxiety and violent behaviors while understanding of individuality and listening with heart lead to recovered lucidity in the state of serious dementia, recovered pleasure and voluntary participation in the daily activities for people with dementia. Core paradigm was defined as 'Person Centered Care through relation formation'. There are 4 types of communication with people with dementia : partnering, patronizing, conflicting, avoiding types. Researchers suggest that Person Centered based communication skills be educated and trained for dementia caregivers.
This study seeks to probe the effects of attitude toward the elderly and knowledge of dementia on attitude toward dementia of care workers who work in nursing homes in Korea and Japan. Furthermore, this paper compares and analyzes whether there's a difference between Korea and Japan in terms of factors that determine the attitude toward dementia. Data were collected from 320 careworkers in korea and 350 careworkers in japan. The collected data has been analyzed by t-test and multiple regression analysis. The following results were found. First, as a result of comparing the level of attitude toward the elderly, as well as knowledge and attitude toward dementia, no meaningful difference was found in terms of knowledge of the dementia, but for attitude toward the disease and toward the elderly, the care workers in Japan were generally found to be more positive. Next, in terms of factors that determine the attitude toward the dementia, first, a careful examination of variables that influence the attitude towards the dementia found that the knowledge of dementia in Korea is (β=.305 p<0.001) and the attitude towards the elderly in Japan is (β=.348 p<0.001). Second, attitude toward the elderly and knowledge of the dementia was found to be a variable that influences attitude toward the dementia, both in Korea and Japan.

VR based dementia service is emerged as elderly population is increasing with potential welfare cost. Current Dementia Center cannot solve the complicated problems, including limited size, case management, medical support, medical cost and care cost, and the lack preventive environment. VR based dementia service is suggested from three reasons: First, VR shows easy access and convenience; Second, development of cognitive health is easy and fun; Third, Predictive way of cognitive decline can be possible with Big Data.
Due to aging society, the prevalence of dementia is continually increasing and, thereby, causing a serious issue. Although Long Term Care Insurance is provided on a national level, it is not available for the elderly with dementia who do not satisfy the requirements. As the use of smartphones becomes widespread, this study investigated an application that can help disease management of the elderly with the early-stage (mild) dementia and communication among the family members based on analysis of the functions found in currently-available applications and survey among the relevant subjects. As a research method, based on review of the relevant theoretical studies, the service environment of applications available for the elderly with mild dementia was analyzed. Through this analysis, it found out that there is no application for the eldery with mild dementia. On the basis of the results, this study proposed a direction for design planning of an application included many functions like managements of taking medicine, physical activity, brain activity, information on dementia and notes. for dementia management aimed to help the patients with mild dementia manage the disease on their own. If this type of services are expanded in addition to the systemic support from the government, the data collected from these applications can contribute to improving management of mild dementia.
