Pulp canal obliteration(PCO) is seen commonly in dental pulp after traumatic tooth injuries and is recognized clinically as early as 3 monthly after injury. Pulp canal obliteration is characterized by deposition of hard tissue within the root canal space and yellow discoloration of the clinical crown. Opinion differs among practitioners as to whether to treat these cases upon early detection of PCO or to observe them until symptoms or radiographic signs of pulpal necrosis are detected. PCO may make root canal treatment necessary because of the development of apical periodotitis or for cosmetic reasons. If carefully executed, root canal treatment in teeth with an PCO is hightly successful and may act as a basis for internal bleaching. During a game, a 12-year-old girl was hit in the face. At that time, she was diagnosis a subluxation of the maxillary right central incisor. At the 24-month recall examination, a root canal of the tooth had been calcified and discolored gradually. We performed endodontic treatment to prevent perfect pulp canal obliteration and internal bleaching.
A 55 year old male was admitted for dyspnea. The patient was diagnosed as acute myocardiac infarction, and coronary artery bypass grafting was performed with cardiopulmonary bypass. At postoperative day #1, Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome was developed with fever, leukocytosis, tachycardia, tachypnea and low systemic vascular resistance. The patient was recovered after being treated with high dose of (36 $\mug/min)$ norepinephrine, and was discharged.
Purpose of this study was to develop a self-care program for patients with asthma and test its effects on self-efficacy, compliance, Quality of Life. Purpose : The aim of this study is to look for the possible efficacy of postoperative external irradiation for incompletely resected meningiomas. Methods and Materials : From August 198: to January 1997, forty-four patients with intracranial meningioma were treated by postoperative external irradiation. Of the 44 meningiomas, 18 transitional, 13 meningotheliomatous, 6 hemangiopericytic, 4 atypical, 2 fibroblastic and 1 malignant meningioma were identified. We classified all patients into two groups by the histology. The benign group was consisted of the meningotheliomatous, transitional and fibroblastic types. The malignant group was consisted of the atypical, hemangiopericytic and malignat types. In the means of surgery, 37 patients were resected incompletely and 7 patients were managed by biopsy only. After surgery, all patients were received postoperative external irradiation. Radiotherapy was deliverd using Co-60 or 4 MV photon beam to a total dose of 50 to 65 Gy (mean dose 57.4 Gy) with a 1.8 to 2 Gy per fraction. The median follow-up was 48 months (range : 21 $\~$ 101 months). Multivariate analysis of the Influence by age, sex, location, histology and radiation dose on local control has been done using Cox's proportional hazard model. Results : 5-year local control rate was 93.8$\%$ for the benign histology and 51.8$\%$ for the malignant histology (p=0.0110) and overall local control rate at 5 years was 87.4$\%$. The analysis of the prognostic factors, such as age, sex, location, and radiation dose were not significant except for the histology. Conclusion : Adjuvant postoperative external irradiation appears to be significantly improved local control in the patients with incompletely resected meningiomas.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of illustrated children's book in providing information about tonsillectomy to improve post tonsillectomy pain control and compliance to treatment for preschoolers. Methods: The design of the study was a quasi-experimental, post-test only design. Subjects were preschoolers aged between 3 and 7 years old who were admitted to a hospital for tonsillectomy. A group of 25 children were assigned to an experimental group, and another 25 were assigned to a control group. The data were analysed using SPSS 12.0 program. The homogeneity between two groups was examined using $x^2-test$. The hypotheses testing was conducted using t-test. Results: The experimental group had lower pain score than control group at 8 hour after tonsillectomy (p<.05). Pain score was also lower in the experimental group after 24 hour after the surgery (p<.05). The experimental group had higher pain questionnaire score than control group at 8 hours after surgery, however the difference was not significant. The experimental group showed better compliance to treatment than the control group (p<.05). Conclusion: Providing illustrated children's book for the purpose of providing information about tonsillectomy was effective intervention for the control of post tonsillectomy pain and improvement of compliance to treatment for preschoolers. Illustrated children's book could be applied as a nursing intervention to relieve post tonsillectomy pain and improve compliance to treatment for preschoolers.
Purpose: This study aimed to provide basic data for vascular health of patient who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) by verifying the mediating effect of compliance in the relationship between risk level of coronary artery disease (CAD) and blood vessel elasticity. Methods: This is a descriptive study with 115 patients, who underwent the PCI a year ago and visited in the cardiology department from January to March, 2015. The risk level of CAD, blood vessel elasticity and the compliance were measured. For data analysis, SPSS/WIN 21.0 and AMOS (IBM) 21.0 were used. Results: There were a positive correlation with blood vessel elasticity score (i.e. inelasticity of the blood vessel wall) (r=.189) and a negative correlation with compliance (r=-.658) in mediating effect of risk level of CAD. There was a negative correlation between compliance and blood vessel elasticity (r=-.482). The direct effect (${\beta}=-.226$), indirect effect (${\beta}=.415$) and total effect (${\beta}=.186$) of mediating effect of risk level of CAD on blood vessel elasticity were significant. Compliance had a partial mediating effect of risk level of CAD on blood vessel elasticity. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that managing and preventing moderating effect of risk level of CAD on compliance is helpful in restoring blood vessel elasticity.
The purpose of this study is to examine to control of glucose level and the occurrence of chronic complications of diabetes by compliance groups with health care regimen The subjects were consisted of 300 out patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus from beginning of March through the end of April in 2001, who visited at the endocrinology department at Kangnam St. Mary's Hospital of Catholic University in Seoul. The patient's compliance level with health care regimen was assessed at questionnaire. However, the blood glucose level and the occurrence of chronic complications of diabetes were assessed at medical record review. The data were analyzed by SAS program for chi square test and t-test. The results were as follows. 1. Significant differences were found among the factors such as duration of diabetes, the number of participation of diabetes educational program, job, smoking, self monitoring of blood glucose and the methods of diabetes therapy between high and low compliance groups. High compliance group patients had a diabetes longer than low compliance group patients. High compliance group patients more frequently attended the educational program and checked themselves monitoring blood glucose than low compliance group patients. Also, they did not work recently, smoked less and got more insulin injection therapy compared to low compliance group patients. 2. No significant differences were found among the result of fasting blood glucose. 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, and $HbA_{l}c}$ between high and low compliance groups. 3. The occurrence rate of macrovascular complications of chronic complications of diabetes were lower, however, the occurrence rate of microvascular complications were higher in high compliance group than in low compliance group with health care regimen.

Purpose: The objective of this study was to identify the effects of a telephone follow-up program on patient compliance, urea kinetic modeling and incidence of infection in patients with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). Method: A pretest-posttest design with a nonequivalent control group was used to examine the effects of a telephone follow-up program for 12 weeks in a group of 39 CAPD patients. The telephone follow-up group of 17 patients received telephone follow-up 10 min once a week for 1 month and 10 min twice a month for 2 months during 12 weeks compared to control group of 22 who patients received usual care. Results: The telephone follow-up group showed no significant changes in patient compliance and urea kinetic modeling, although patients with CAPD receiving a telephone follow-up showed reduced incidence of exit site infection during the intervention compared with the control group. Conclusion: Telephone follow-up program for CAPD patients may decrease the incidence of exit site infection. Future studies with a larger sample be done utilizing diet and exercise reinforcement program combined with telephone follow-up as a nursing intervention for patients with CAPD.
