Practice Status of Dental Hygiene Assessment in Dental Clinic (치과 임상에서의 치위생사정 수행 실태)

  • This study was conducted to investigate practice rate of dental hygiene assessment and to understand the performance ratio according to hospital type. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 195 dental hygienists, and the dental hygiene assessment items examined were 6 types of dental history, medical history, vital signs measurement, extraoral examination, intraoral soft tissue examination, andtissue examination. As a result of the study, the item with the highest percentage of performers was 92.8% of dental history, and the lowest item was extraoral examination 57.9%. And, dental clinics were higher than dental hospitals and university hospitals in all dental hygiene assessment categories, and in particular, performance rates of extraoral examination and intraoral soft tissue examination were higher in dental clinics. Considering the overall high rate of dental hygiene assessment through this study, it is necessary to discuss the legal work of dental hygienists and to reflect the insurance fee.

Relationship between Degree of Clinical Satisfaction and Experience on Performance for Dental Hygiene Students (치위생(학)과 학생들의 임상만족도와 수행경험과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between degree of satisfaction and experience on performance in accordance with the characteristics for the dental hygiene students. Dental hygiene students to 480 people from November to December 2014 and analyzed by conducting a survey. The higher grade students were more satisfied with the degree of satisfaction on experience for clinical test performance and clinical practice organization rather than the lower grade students. Also, the degree of satisfaction on major for the higher grade students has been shown as relatively higher than the lower grade students. The factors that affecting the experience for clinical performance and the degree of satisfaction for clinical practice were shown as grade, satisfaction for major and period for practice. In order to enhance the degree of satisfaction on the clinical performance for students, it should be established the system for practice management considering the characteristics of clinical practice by relevant organizations. Also, the dental hygienist who is responsible for dental education should manage his/her practice for students actively. Meanwhile, the practice organization should improve and update the content of education through the consistent alliance with colleges continuously.

A Study on the Stressors of Dental Hygienists and Student Hygienists during the Clinical Practice by Medical Center Type (임상실습 시 병원형태별 치과위생사와 실습학생이 경험하게 되는 스트레스 요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigates the stressors of dental hygienists and student hygienists during the bedside training by the medical center type. The survey is based on some dental hygienists who are working for dental college hospitals, general hospitals, dental hospitals and dental clinics in Seoul and Gyeonggi area which the Clinical Practice of dental hygienics students is under way in. Included are the students who are studying dental hygienics at Kyungbok University and have taken the bedside training in dental college hospitals, general hospitals, dental hospitals and dental clinics. A statistical analysis shows the following results using SPSS program. By medical center type, dental hygienists described the clinical practice of students as relatively satisfying. It also found that there is a positive correlation between stress zones, and they feel most stressed in the "Role and Activity" zone. Student hygienists felt relatively satisfied with the bedside training, and there is a positive correlation between stress zones except "Practice". It found students, who have taken the bedside training in all types of medical centers except dental clinics, felt most stressed in "Environment". It also found that students who have taken the bedside training in dental clinics felt most stressed in "Role and Activity". In conclusion, most of the dental hygienists are satisfied with students' clinical practice by pattern of hospital. Positive correlation was shown between stress factors. Behavior and attitude and ideal and value are high in stress in college dental hospitals, role and activity and treatment fields are high in stress in dental hospital, and interpersonal relationships are high in stress in dental clinics.

A Qualitative Research on Conflict Experiences of Clinical Dental Hygienists (임상 치과위생사의 갈등 경험에 관한 질적 연구)

  • This study was aimed at exploring the meaning and essence of the conflict experiences of clinical dental hygienists. In-depth interviews with 13 dental hygienists working in a dental clinic were conducted. Giorgi's method was used for qualitative analysis of the data. Conflict experiences of clinical dental hygienists were categorized into four central meaning as task conflicts, interpersonal conflicts, organizational environment conflicts, and conflict management style. Participants felt more sensitive towards the attitudes of people than treatment itself. Further studies on the multifaceted approach to conflict experiences of dental hygienists should be made. Additional research is necessary to develop effective measures and program to prevent and reduce conflict and stress in the work environment of dental hygienists.

  • 목적: 본 연구는 실무 현장과 교육 현장의 조사를 통한 종합적인 의견을 수렴하여 합리적인 치과기공사 양성 및 배출을 위한 개선안을 도출하고자 한다. 방법: 3회에 걸쳐 설문조사가 진행되었으며, 1차는 개방형 문항으로 조사되었고, 2차, 3차는 폐쇄형 문항으로 조사되었다. 델파이 조사를 위한 조사 인원 선정을 100명(정책집단: 20명, 교육집단: 20명, 임상가 집단: 60명)으로 지정하였다. 1차 개방형 조사결과를 토대로 2차 설문문항을 작성하였으며, 2차 설문조사 결과를 토대로 3차 설문문항을 작성 후 조사하였다. 수집된 자료의 분석은 통계패키지 프로그램 SPSS Ver. 21.0를 활용하여 델파이 기법(Delphi Method)을 활용한 연구 결과에서 전문가 집단의 의견을 수렴하기 위해 빈도분석과 기술통계분석을 실시하였다. 결과: 현 교육체계의 문제점은 임상현장과의 차이와 실무능력저하, 국가시험위주의 교육이 문제점으로 대두되었으며, 현행 평가제도의 문제점은 임상현장을 충분히 반영하지 못한 점, 실무능력이 미 반영된 실기평가로 지적되었다. 결론: 결론적으로 치과기공사의 교육과정과 평가제도는 현실적인 내용을 고려하면서 임상 실무와의 연계성을 높이는 방향으로 개선되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.

Current status of dental hygiene curriculum related to clinical practice for dental hygienists in some universities (일부 대학 치위생학과의 치과임상실무 관련 교육과정 운영현황)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of dental hygiene curricula related to clinical practice in Korea. Methods: Clinical work included the categories 'history taking, infection control, oral prophylaxis, preventive treatment, education/counseling, radiography/reading, assisting/cooperation, impression/bite registration, anesthesia, etc.', and 66 works were finally selected based on the frequent tasks of dental hygienists. The subjects were made to answer nine questionnaires. Results: It was found that the theory and practice of the main works operated quite differently in lectures and practice in each school. All types of practice were applied to all schools in the case of 'scaling'. The evaluation of clinical practice was also found to be very different from school to school. Conclusions: For dental hygienists to establish expertise in clinical practice and promote quality improvement, it is necessary to develop a core curriculum focusing on clinical practice. The standardized curriculum should be improved to an efficient and competency-centered one defining clearly the role of dental hygienists considering the needs and importance of clinical practice.

와동 이장재의 임상적 응용

  • 치과보존학 영역에서 사용되는 각종 충전재는 다소의 차이는 있으나, 충전후 치질과 완전한 접착을 이루지 못하고, 충전물과 와동벽 사이에 미세공간을 형성하여 변연누출을 야기한다. 즉 타액, 세균, 음식물 분해산물등이 자유로이 이 미세공간을 통해 침투하여 치수와 건강 치질에 이차적인 위해작용을 하기 때문에, 충전의 결과를 더욱 효과적으로 개선시키기 위해서는 이 미세공간을 폐쇄하여 변연노출을 억제시키는 것이 필수적이다. 이에 사용되는 재료가 와동이장재이며, 이의 임상적 응용에 대해 기술하고저 한다.
