The convergence angle of a prepared tooth is a very important factor in the retention and resistance of a crown restoration. But various intraoral environments and clinician's techniques make it difficult to obtain the ideal inclination. Therefore, in this study, clinical convergence angle of a prepared tooth was investigated. The data was collected from the patient models of prosthodontic residents and the patient models of general practitioners. The images of mesiodistal and buccolingual surfaces were taken with a digital camera to evaluate the convergence angle on 'ImageJ' program. The images were classified according to the criteria (1. Clinician group, 2. Position in the dental arch, 3. The purpose of abutment preparation)and then analyzed. The mean convergence angle of a prepared tooth for Korean clinicians was $15.02^{\circ}$ (${\pm}10.13^{\circ}$). 1. It was significant in the convergence angle between the general practitioner group and the prosthodontic resident group(p<0.05). 2. It was significant between the mesiodistal and buccolingual surface in the the prosthodontic resident group(p<0.05). 3. For the general practitioner group, it was significant when anteriors and premolars were compared with molars(p<0.05). For the prosthodontic resident group, it was significant when anteriors and premolars were compared with molars (p<0.05). 4. When divided into upper and lower arches, for the general practitioner group, it showed significant difference in the buccolingual aspect(p<0.05). Also in the prosthodontic resident group, it showed significant difference in the buccolingual aspect(p<0.05). 5. Dividing left and right sides of the arches, there was no significant difference in the general practitioner group and the prosthodontic resident group(p>0.05). 6. In the general practitioner group, it was significant in the mesiodistal axial convergence angle of single crown abutment and 3 unit bridge abutment(p<0.05). In the prosthodontic resident group, it was significant in the mesiodistal and overall axial convergence angle of single crown abutment and 3 unit bridge abutment(p<0.05). Clinical convergence angle of prepared tooth in Korea was included in agreement with other studies investigating convergence angle that ranged from 10 to 22 degrees, achieved in clinical practice.
The purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions, precedent tasks, positive and negative effects, and expandable professional tasks regarding the inclusion of dental hygienists (DHs) in the category of medical personnel. This study involved a survey of 259 DHs and 128 dentists. The findings were as follows: 94.2% of DHs and 46.9% of dentists were aware of inclusion in the category of medical personnel; 95.0% of DHs and 64.1% of dentists supported the idea; and 84.9% of DHs and 51.6% of dentists recognized its legitimacy. As for precedent tasks for inclusion in the category of medical personnel, both DHs and dentists scored high points in professional consciousness in the area of occupation. Both DHs and dentists scored the highest points in the quality management of DH education and the lowest points in the unification of school systems in the area of institution. In the area of society, DHs scored high points in the persuasion of the central government, whereas dentists scored high points in collaboration among concerned organizations. Regarding the positive effects of inclusion in the category of medical personnel, both DHs and dentists scored the highest points in the expanded perception of DHs. As for its negative effects, DHs scored high points in the aggravation of salary increase, whereas dentists scored high points in the aggravation of salary increase. Regarding expandable professional tasks after the inclusion of DHs in the category of medical personnel, the management of independent periodontal care programs recorded the highest percentage both in DHs and dentists. These findings highlight the need for adequate discussions about the meanings of the inclusion of DHs in the category of medical personnel and will hopefully contribute to the rational adjustment and legalization of DHs' works with regard to their inclusion in the category of medical personnel.
Purpose: This in vitro study aimed to compare the trueness of 3-unit fixed dental provisional prostheses (FDPs) fabricated by three different additive manufacturing and subtractive manufacturing procedures. Methods: A reference model with a maxillary left second premolar and the second molar prepped and the first molar missing was scanned for the fabrication of 3-unit FDPs. An anatomically shaped 3-unit FDP was designed on computer-aided design software. 10 FDPs were fabricated by subtractive (MI group) and additive manufacturing (stereolithography: SL group, digital light processing: DL group, liquid crystal displays: LC group) methods, respectively (N=40). All FDPs were scanned and exported to the standard triangulated language file. A three-dimensional analysis program measured the discrepancy of the internal, margin, and pontic base area. As for the comparison among manufacturing procedures, the Kruskal-Wallis test and the Mann-Whitney test with Bonferroni correction were evaluated statistically. Results: Regarding the internal area, the root mean square (RMS) value of the 3-unit FDPs was the lowest in the MI group (31.79±6.39 ㎛) and the highest in the SL group (69.34±29.88 ㎛; p=0.001). In the marginal area, those of the 3-unit FDPs were the lowest in the LC group (25.39±4.36 ㎛) and the highest in the SL group (48.94±18.98 ㎛; p=0.001). In the pontic base area, those of the 3-unit FDPs were the lowest in the LC group (8.72±2.74 ㎛) and the highest in the DL group (20.75±2.03 ㎛; p=0.001). Conclusion: A statistically significant difference was observed in the RMS mean values of all the groups. However, in comparison to the subtractive manufacturing method, all measurement areas of 3-unit FDPs fabricated by three different additive manufacturing methods are within a clinically acceptable range.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the fitness of lower jaw compete denture with glass fiber. Methods: Lower jaw edentulous model was selected as the master model. Ten study models were produced using Type IV stone(n=10). Lower jaw trial dentures were produced by the wax denture base and artificial teeth. Conventional complete denture (CD) group was fabricated by excluding glass fiber reinforcement (n=5). Glass fiber complete denture (GD) group was fabricated with glass fiber reinforcement (n=5). The lower jaw trial complete denture was invested using a plaster. PMMA resin was injected and curing was performed. The CD and GD groups measured the fit using silicone replica technology. The measured data was verified by t-test. Results: The anterior area of the CD group showed the smallest value. There was a statistically significant difference in the anterior area of the CD group and the GD group (p<0.05), but there was no statistically significant difference in the posterior area (p>0.05). Conclusion : Complete denture with glass fiber showed low fitness and further study is needed to apply it clinically.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare two-dimensional fitness of the monolithic zirconia prosthesis by using different type of scanner. Methods: No. 26 abutment tooth of FDI system was selected for the study. Using the extraoral scanner and intraoral scanner, the abutment tooth was scanned 10 times and the scanned files were saved as STL files. CAD/CAM system was used to produce the monolithic zirconia prosthesis. marginal and internal gap of the monolithic zirconia prosthesis were measured by digital microscope(x160) and applied silicone replica technique was applied. t-test, a statistical software, was used to perform data analysis. Results: Marginal gap $mean{\pm}SD$ of the monolithic zirconia prosthesis was $33{\pm}7.5{\mu}m$ with extra oral scanner and $34.7{\pm}11.1{\mu}m$ with intraoral scanner. axial gap mean was $40.5{\pm}3.5{\mu}m$ with extra oral scanner and $44.6{\pm}11.6{\mu}m$ with intraoral scanner. occlusal gap mean was $110.1{\pm}25.4{\mu}m$ with extra oral scanner and $64{\pm}9.7{\mu}m$ with intraoral scanner. Conclusion: In this study, fabricating zirconia prosthesis with different type of scanner was clinically applicable.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of provisional crowns manufactured using a milling machine and a digital light processing (DLP) printer. Methods: A full-contour crown was designed using computer-aided design software. Provisional crowns of this design were manufactured using a milling machine and using a DLP three-dimensional (3D) printer (N=20). The provisional crowns were digitized with an extraoral scanner, and 3D deviation analysis was applied to the scanned data to confirm their accuracy. An independent t-test was performed to detect the significant differences, and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used for analysis (α=0.05). Results: No significant differences were found among the precision of marginal surface between the printed and milled crowns (p=0.181). The trueness of marginal and internal surfaces of the milled crowns were statistically higher than those of the printed crowns (p=0.024, p=0.001; respectively). Conclusion: The accuracy of provisional crowns manufactured using a milling machine and a 3D printer differed significantly except with regards to the precision of the internal surface. However, all the crowns were clinically acceptable, regardless of the manufacturing method used.

Although dental hygiene has haven a special domain of knowledge and its own business territory, people have misunderstandings about dental hygienists as nurses or nirses' aides in Korea. Inadequate knowledge could make negative results for university applicants to choose department of dental hygiene. This study was aimed to compare major and job satisfaction of students and graduates in dental hygiene and nursing for objective comparison and suggestion for dental hygiene. The subjects were 98 dental hygiene students, 113 nursing students, 53 dental hygienists, and 53 nurses by convenience sampling in Daejeon. The questionnaire consisted of satisfaction of college life, social identity, career path and job. ANOVA with Tukey post-hoc analysis was used with SPSS 20.0 program. Although dental hygiene students scored lower than nursing students in satisfaction of college life, social identity, career path and job, dental hygienists, nurse and dental hygiene students didn't have different satisfaction of job. Dental hygienists scored the lowest in relation with clinical work and major curriculum, and sexual discrimination. Nurses scored the lowest in working condition and salary. Dental hygienists and dental hygiene students had lower scores in information and advice of career path, entrance to graduate school, stable work, family's pride of my major, social position and so on. We suggested the community of dental hygiene should try to promote dental hygienists to public, the community of dentists should give the stable working condition, and the department of dental hygiene should improve the major curriculum to relate with clinical work.
