건강보험심사평가원이 파악한 전국의 치과병원 개수는 48개(대학의 치과병원, 국공립 치과병원 제외) 이중 올해 새로 개설신고한 치과병원이 16개에 이른다. 치과병원의 증가로 치과의사의 활로 개척 및 수련기회의 증가, 연계된 진료 및 질 높은 진료 가능 등 긍정적 측면도 있으나 과다한 시설투자로 인한 지나친 요금 청구, 주변 개원의와의 마찰, 과대광고의 가능성 등 문제점도 제기되고 있다. 이에 치과병원의 현황을 살펴보고 치과병원의 긍정적인 측면과 부정적인 측면 등을 살펴보도록 한다.

서울대학교 치과병원에서는 지난 1월 '국민과 함께하는 21세기 초일류 치과병원'이라는 21세기 비전을 제시했다. 서울대학교 치과병원 외에도 각 대학의 치과병원에서는 경영의 합리화를 꾀하고 진료의 질을 높이며 지역사회와 함께 하기 위한 21세기 비전을 준비중이다. 이에 11개 치대병원의 21세기 비전에 대해서 살펴본다.

'치과의사전공의 수련병원 실태조사 보고서'는 대한치과의사협회에서 작년 6월 전국에 위치한 치과의사 전공의 수련병원 실태조사를 시행하고 치과의사 전공의 수련병원 실태조사 소위원회 위원들이 작성한 보고서이다. 이번 조사는 차후 전문치과의사제도가 시행될 때 전문치과의사 수련병원의 지정기준을 결정하는데 기초자료로 활용될 것이다. 또한 전문치과의사제도가 시행될 때 전문치과의사 전공의 수련병원의 시설 기준, 이련(교육인력 및 교육보조인력 포함), 교육(시간,시설,교과목 등) 등에 대한 합리적이고 기본적인 지침을 제시하게 될 것이다. 보고서 전문 중 중요하다고 사료되는 일부를 발췌하여 게재하며 보고서 내용 전문은 치협 홈페이지(http://www.kda.or.kr)치과의사를 위한 정보 중 자료실 클릭 후 학술위원회를 선택하면 볼 수 있다.

In this study, the recognition of child abuse and neglect (CAN) and reporting attitudes of general dentists and pediatric dentists in Korea were estimated. A survey was conducted among dentists working at clinics or university hospitals, including interns and residents at dental hospital training institutions. The questionnaire, consisting of 32 questions and detailed questions, subdivided into 'general characteristics of respondents', 'CAN', 'CAN report', 'laws to CAN', 'countermeasures against CAN'. The survey was conducted using a messenger, and 176 respondents' answers were analyzed. The recognition of CAN showed high scores in the order of physical abuse, neglect, and emotional abuse. The positive attitude toward reporting CAN had a higher score than the negative attitude. Of the total respondents, 19 said they reported child abuse, and 18 said they were suspected of child abuse but hesitated to report it. Among the laws related to CAN, the protection measures for CAN reporters and the protocol for CAN showed low awareness. Since then, they have wanted to know how to find abused children and how to deal with them in education. This study is expected to be used as data to improve dentists' awareness and consciousness of CAN in the future.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of the spread of a new type of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) on the mental state in school-age children and parents focusing on the aspects of sleep disorders and depression. A questionnaire survey was conducted for 123 parents and 108 school-age children who visited Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital at Gangdong from April 2, 2020 through April 25, 2020, via the direct writing method. Participants were assessed with Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)-7, Center for Epidemiology Scale for Depression. Logistic regressions were used with a level of significance of 5%. The prevalence of GAD, depression, and poor sleep in parents were 34.1%, 17.1% and 44.7%, respectively. The prevalence of GAD in children was 20.4%. Logistic regression showed that stress from Emergency Alert Messages about COVID-19 was associated with GAD and depression in parents. In children, the degree of emotional change after COVID-19 was associated with GAD. This study confirmed that there was a change in the psychological status of children and guardians due to the epidemic of coronavirus disease-2019, and it would be necessary to consider their psychological status during dental treatment.

Since January 2019, insurance coverage for caries treatment of permanent teeth using composite resin in children aged 12 and under has started in South Korea. The purpose of this study was to compare the pattern of permanent molar composite resin restoration aged 12 and under before and after the insurance coverage from January 2009 to March 2020 in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital at Gangdong. Since the insurance coverage was started in 2019, the frequency of permanent molar composite resin restoration aged 12 and under has increased more than twice. There was a significant change in frequency of resin restoration by shape of cavity comparing before and after the insurance coverage, whereas there was no significant difference in changes by patient age, gender and position of tooth. As accessibility to the permanent tooth composite resin restoration is increased by the insurance coverage, which shows a fair survival rate, it is expected that it could be able to secure oral health in the early permanent dentition aged 12 and under.

Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare congenital anomalies characterized by direct communication between arteries and veins that bypass the capillary bed. AVMs may not manifest clinically until late infancy or childhood. In particular, facial AVMs can cause urgent life-threatening dental events. A 5-year-old girl without a medical history visited the hospital because of spontaneous gingival bleeding around the posterior gingival area of the lower left 2nd primary molar. Angiography through the femoral approach under general anesthesia was performed for differential diagnosis and therapeutic option. The blood flow was effectively reduced after arterial embolization alone, and there was no evidence of recurrence at the 5-month follow-up. The present study reports that embolization of the affected vessels can be a more effective and safe method than surgical resection for the treatment of AVM during the growth period.

This study empirically analyzed the effect of service nature of dental clinic on job satisfaction and job commitment. In recent years, the demand for medical services has been increasing in the dental clinics. As the dental clinics are faced with various competition situations through new establishment and expansion, the importance of job satisfaction and job involvement is more emphasized. The service nature of dental hospitals is known to be influenced by job satisfaction and job commitment. These two factors are important factors for securing the competitiveness of dental hospitals as well as the functions of hospitals required for survival and development of dental hospitals In this study, we analyzed the effects of labor - management relations and high-involvement work organization on the organizational satisfaction and organizational commitment affecting service nature of dental hospital. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the service nature based organization has a full mediating effect which is not established without labor relations and participatory work organization in the process of affecting job commitment. Therefore, unlike previous studies which focus on incentives or external rewards to increase job satisfaction of employees, this study concluded that internal support system reflecting service nature factors should be strengthened. Job satisfaction and job commitment, which are variables in this study, are expected to be the basis for improving competitiveness of dental hospitals. Future research should be extended to small and medium dental hospitals and dental clinics. It is also necessary to study various organizations in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the service organization by fostering the nature of service such as relationship and interactivity at the organizational level.

The purposes of this research were to evaluate the relationships of between characteristics of noise and annoyance of dental hygienist by noise in dental clinic. To investigate the dental clinic workers' reactions to noise when occurred in dental clinic, the noise level test in dental clinic and questionnaire were taken. As a result of noise evaluation, It shows that the range of noise level was 67.7~78.3dB(A) and frequency was very high (more than 4KHz). It's seem to be begins occurrence of stamina-loss, contraction of peripheral blood vessel, decrease of adrenocortical hormones. Most of respondents were affected by noise: 67% of respondents were nervous about noise and the rest of respondents were bearable. Analysis by NR-curve showed that it was exceed the noise permit level in working space. As a result of correlation - test, the more exposed dental hygienist to noise, the more felt the unpleasantness and fatigue. It's hard to sufficient explanation to patients about the dental treatment. So it's thoughts that insufficient explanation will negative impact on the patients' satisfaction and increase competitiveness in dental clinics. To remedy a unpleasantness and fatigue of noise in dental hygienist, it's considered that making an offer the ear protection and choosing the low noise-vib. equipment and using the masking effect. Therefore, It can be provide a pleasant working environment with dental hygienist and It will have a great advantage to dental clinics to improve their competitiveness.
