  • The geology of the Iskaycruz project are mainly composed of sedimentary rocks within Cretaceous basin. The basal part is composed up of dark-gray shale, gray sandstone, and clastic rock of Oyon formation interbedded with coal measures. In the folded zone in the eastern part of the survey area, there is Chimu formation that has medium-grained massive and white quarztite. In terms of geological structure, the Iskaykruz region is located in the folded and overthrust zones of the central part of the Occidental Mountains. Ore body was formed by hydrothermal replacement process and consists of zinc, lead, silver, and copper. Stratabound-type deposits are hosted in limestone of Santa formation. It extends 12 kilometers discontinuously from northern Canaypata to southern Antapampa. Irregular iron oxide and sulfide minerals hosted in Santa and Parihuanca formations are observed. The mineralization observed on the surface consist of primary sulfides consisting of sphalerite with galena and chalcopyrite, and iron and manganese oxide produced from oxidation of primary sulfides. Skarn minerals are accompanied by tremolite, garnet, epidote and quartz.

  • Metasediment-hosted Pb-Zn mineralized zone has been found in Dyusembay of Kazakhstan. Its petrological properties, metal index, alteration index and redox-sensitivity are compared with those of SEDEX type deposit. Mineralization is developed along foliation of host rock (graphitic phyllite) and controlled by folds and faults; major ore minerals including pyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite, and galena are disseminated or interlayered with fine-grained quartz. The margin of the mineralized zone is metamorphosed accompanying sericite and chlorite. Hydrothermal brecciation and Pb-Zn mineralization formed in quartz-calcite stockworks are confirmed at the around of Maytyubin granitoid intrusions. The mineralization is classified into three types according to those of occurrence, paragenesis, chemical composition and isotopic characteristics. Type 1 whose fine-grained pyrite, pyrrhotite and sphalerite are formed in parallel yet discontinuous to well-developed foliations of the host rock; its geochemistry is similar to those of the earlier stage in SEDEX-type mineralization. In case of type 2, the ore minerals of which are concentrated being parallel to a foliation by regional metamorphism, and most of them associated with quartz and muscovite (${\pm}$ biotite) paragenetically. Type 3 is formed in the hydrothermal breccia zone whose ore minerals are controlled by foliation and breccia and developed in quartz ${\pm}$ calcite veins having a form such as stratification, stockwork or veinlets. Host rocks in the mineralized zone indicate homogeneous metamorphic grade and there is no specific alteration zonation. Also, all types (type 1, type 2, and type 3) represent similar REEs patterns, it can be interpreted that these are originated from a same source. Sulphides occurred in mineralized zone indicate a limited range of sulphur isotope values (type 2, ${\delta}^{34}S=-13.3{\sim}-11.7$‰; type 3, ${\delta}^{34}S=-13.9{\sim}-8.2$‰), and a result of geothermometry presents different temperature ranges: type 2($251{\pm}38^{\circ}C{\sim}277{\pm}40^{\circ}C$); type 3($360{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ to $537{\pm}29^{\circ}C$). It is estimated to be due to the effect of metamorphism and Maytyubin granitoid intrusions, respectively. In addition, ternary chart of thorium, scandium, and zircon for discrimination of tectonic setting and redox sensitivity using V/Mo values indicate that hydrothermal sediments put on reduction environment after precipitation, before being affected by metamorphism and intrusion activity. Geochemical data are plotted on a distal trend of SEDEX-type with discrimination plot using SEDEX index. As a result, petrological-geochemical properties demonstrate that Dyusembay Pb-Zn mineralized zone is comparable to distal-type of SEDEX deposit.

  • $LiCoO_2$ thin film have received attention as cathodes of thin-film microbatteries. In this study, $LiCoO_2$ thin films were synthesized on Au substrates by sol-gel spin coating method and electrochemical properties were investigated under annealing temperature and time. The phycochemical properties of $LiCoO_2$ thin film were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scaning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. The electrochemical properties were characterized using galvanostatic charging/discharging cycling tests. From X-ray diffraction, as-grown films annealed at $550^{\circ}C$ and $750^{\circ}C$ are presumed to be spinel structure and a single phase of the layered-rock-salt, respectively. The RMS roughness and grain size of the films which annealed at $750^{\circ}C$ has similar values for annealing time 10 and 30 min, while for annealing time 120 min surface roughness, grain size increase and pore appearance were observed. The first discharge capacity of $LiCoO_2$ thin films annealed at $750^{\circ}C$ for 10, 30 and 120 min is about 54.5, 56.8 and $51.87{\mu}Ah/cm^2{\mu}m$, respectively. Corresponding capacity retention at 50th cycle is 97.25, 76.69, 77.19%.

  • We have successfully synthesized $Bi_{4-x}La_xTi_3O_{12}$ (x~2) having Aurivillius-type layered perovskite structure from exfoliated layered perovskite oxide of $K_2La_2Ti_3O_{10}$ with Ruddlesden-Popper structure. The reaction between the exfoliated lanthanum titanate nanosheets and BiOCl nanocrystal resulted in the formation of polycrystalline $Bi_{4-x}La_xTi_3O_{12}$ (x~2) after heating above $700^{\circ}C$. Colloidal suspension of the nanosheets could be obtained by intercalating ethylamine (EA) into the protonated lanthanum titanate, $H_2La_2Ti_3O_{10}$, derived from $K_2La_2Ti_3O_{10}$. Transmission electron microscopic (TEM) analysis show that the exfoliated lanthanium titanate nanosheets have a thickness of a few nano meters. According to X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, the exfoliated lanthanium titanate was found to be transformed into $Bi_{4-x}La_xTi_3O_{12}$ (x~2) after restacking with BiOCl and subsequent thermal treatment at > $700^{\circ}C$.

  • Ranciéte is a hexagonal phyllomanganate mineral containing random Mn(IV) vacancies with hydrated Ca2+ cations charged balanced as interlayer cations. Its Mn2+ analogue is called takanelite, and ranciéite and takanelite are regarded as end-members of a solid solution series of (Ca2+,Mn2+)Mn4O9·nH2O. Because the minerals are found as very small particles associated with other minerals, the crystal structures of the solid solution series have yet to be defined. In this research, we conducted classical molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of ranciéite and takanelite by varying the Mn2+/Ca2+ interlayer cation ratio to find relations between the interlayer cations and mineral structures. MD simulation results of chalcophanite group minerals are compared with experimental results to verify our method applied. Then, lattice parameters of ranciéite and takanelite models are presented along with detailed interlayer structures as to the distribution and coordination of cations and water molecules. This study shows the potentials of MD simulations in entangling complicated phyllomanganates structures.

  • Nitrous oxide ($N_2O$) is a greenhouse material which is hard to remove. Even with a catalytic process it requires a reaction temperature, at least, higher than 670 K. This study has been performed to see the effects of Ce addition to the mixed oxide catalyst which shows the highest activity in decomposing $N_2O$ completely at temperature as low as 473 K when CO is used as a reducing agent. Mixed metal oxide(MMO) catalyst was made through co-precipitation process with small amount of Ce added to the base components of Co, Al and Rh or Pd. Consequently, the surface area of the catalyst decreased with the contents of Ce, and the catalytic activity of direct decomposition of $N_2O$ also decreased. However, in the presence of CO, the activity was found high enough to compensate the portion of activity decrease by Ce addition, so that it can be ascertained that the catalytic activity and stability can be maintained in the CO involved $N_2O$ reduction system when Ce is added for the physical stability of the catalyst.

  • In the eastern part of the Euiseong Basin acidic~intermediate volcanic rocks widely distribute on the Cretaceous sedimentary basement. Coeval granitic rocks and dyke rocks intruded into the volcanic rocks. Volcanic stratigraphy of study area are andesite lava, dacitic lapilli tuff, dacitic flow-banded lava, rhyolitic bedded tuff, rhyolitic massive tuff, dacitic massive lava, rhyolitlc welded tuff occur from the lower to the upper strata. $SiO_2$ content of the volcanic rocks range from 51 to 74 wt.%. With the increase of $SiO_2$, the contents of $TiO_2$, $Al_2$$O_3$, MgO, FeOT MnO, CaO, $P_2$$O_{5}$ decrease but those of $K_2$O increase. The contents of $Na_2$O show dispersive variation. This trend is quite sim-ilar to the major oxide variation in the volcanic rocks from the Yucheon sub-basin. The geochemical natures indicate that the volcanic rocks in the study area are discriminated to the island-arc type high K to medium K calc-alkaline rocks. The compositional variation of the volcanic rocks can be explained by the plagioclase fractionation of the volcanic magmas originated from similar source materials. The volcanic stratigraphy seems to have formed by at least two eruptive sequences of andesitic to rhyolitic and dacitic to rhyolitic magmas which underwent crystallization differentiation.
