The pole side crash caused fatal injury by comparison with other crash impact mode such as frontal and rear crash. EuroNCAP proposed the pole side crash test using WorldSID(World Side Impact Dummy). The objective of this study is to develop the pole side impact sled test using dummy rib deflection between crash and sled test. In the pursuit of this purpose, we fabricated new pole side sled buck and test preliminary pole sled using ES-2re. Through this, we found the sled acceleration pulse scale. Hardness and thickness of the EPP affects the rib deflection. We conducted the pole sled test using WorldSID based on the preliminary results. As a result, rib deflection was shown to correlate well between crash test and pole side sled test.

Crashworthy fuel cells have been widely implemented to rotorcraft and rendered a great contribution for improving the survivability of crews and passengers. Since the embryonic stage of military rotorcraft history began, the US army has developed and practised a detailed military specification documenting the unique crashworthiness requirements for rotorcraft fuel cells to prevent most fatality due to post-crash fire. Foreign manufacturers have followed their long term experience to develop their fuel cells, and have reflected the results of crash impact tests on the trial-and-error based design and manufacturing procedures. Since the crash impact test itself takes a long-term preparation efforts together with costly fuel cell specimens, a series of numerical simulations of the crash impact test with digital mock-ups is necessary even at the early design stage to minimize the possibility of trial-and-error with full-scale fuel cells. In the present study a number of numerical simulations on fuel cell crash impact tests are performed with a crash simulation software, Autodyn. The resulting equivalent stresses are further analysed to evaluate a number of appropriate design parameters and the artificial neural network and simulated annealing method are simultaneously implemented to optimize the crashworthy performance of fuel cells.

As the regulation and assessment program for safety of passengers become stringent, automakers are required to develop lighter and safer vehicles. In order to fulfill both requirements which conflict with each other, automobile and steel companies have proposed the application of AHSS(Advance High Strength Steel) such as DP, TRIP and martensite steel. ULSAB-AVC model is one of the most remarkable reactions to offer solutions with the use of steel for the challenge to improve simultaneously the fuel efficiency, passenger safety, vehicle performance and affordability. This paper is concerned with the crash analysis of ULSAB-AVC model according to the US-SINCAP in order to compare the effectiveness between the model with AHSS and that with conventional steels. The crashworthiness is investigated by comparing the deformed shape of the cabin room, the energy absorption characteristics and the intrusion velocity of a car.
Use term of tower style construction exceeds recently. Accordingly, according to construction safety diagnosis result, achieve removal or Improvement construction. But when work removal, must shorten shut down time. Therefore, removal method of construction to use blasting demolition of construction is very profitable. Influence construction and equipment by blasting vibration and occurrence vibration caused by felling impact. Is using disadvantageous machine removal method of construction by and economic performance by effect of such vibartion. Therefore, this research studied techniques to forecast vibartion level happened at blasting demolition and vibration reduction techniques by use a scaled model test.

In order to provide consumers with safety informations of vehicles according to the Korean New Car Assessment Program(KNCAP), the evaluation results and the star ratings of 21 vehicles for the side impact tests have been reported since 2003. Now, the KNCAP considers changing the side impact dummy from EuroSID-1 to EuroSID-2 near future. The rib deflection of EuroSID-2 is 20-30% higher than that of EuroSID-1 because of the removal of "Flat Tops" effect. In this study, the effect of changing the side impact dummy from EuroSID-1 to EuroSID-2 in the KNCAP side impact evaluation is estimated through the previous KNCAP evaluation results. The results show that the decrease of the star ratings would be one star($\bigstar$) approximately.

In order to reduce the damage of life and property caused by an automobile accident, we should design new car models and safety standard with reference to the data analysis and in-depth investigation of the accident. In-depth research and analysis of the current world other than the police investigation team (GIDAS, iGLAD, NHTSA, etc.) and collect in-depth data. Going to develop a safety policy to make it much safer cars based on this data. However, the country still does not have the advantage of KIDAS data Safety Policy Direction. In KNCAP tests, there is nothing in order to protect far side passengers even if far side impact causes approximately 50% injured people. Based on DBs like KIDAS (Korean In-Depth Accident Study) and GIDAS, far side passengers got injured as much as near side passengers did. So as to protect far side passengers, KNCAP has to change the test method of side crashes. In this study, injury severities to compare with ES-2, World SID and Thor dummies and the movements of far and near side passengers, SLED TEST was used.

The structural safety of hydrogen buses is being evaluated for the successful introduction of hydrogen buses. The crash test methodology, for example, side impact test procedure is being discussed for hydrogen bus structure safety with a compressed hydrogen storage system located under the bus floor. Thus this study describes a new experiment method for side impact test with compressed hydrogen storage system independently based on finite element analysis instead of side impact test using full hydrogen bus. A side crash procedure of conceptual compressed hydrogen storage structure was investigated and impact simulations were performed. The finite element models of hydrogen bus, simplified structures, fuel tank system and side impact moving barrier were set up and simulation results reported model performance and result comparison of three different simplified models. Computational results and research discussion proposed the fundamental test framework for safety assessment of the compressed hydrogen storage system.

A vehicle door impact beam made of a thin sheet of steel has been constructed using hot stamping technology with the aim of ensuring occupant safety in the event of a side collision. This technology has been used to increase the strength of the vehicle body parts and to reduce the weight of the door impact beam as well as the number of work processes. Mechanical tests were performed to determine the material properties of the hot-stamped specimen and the results of the tests were used as input data in stamping and structural simulation in order to obtain the optimal design of door impact beam. The strength of the hot-stamped door impact beam increased to a value that was 102% higher than that of conventional pipe-shaped door impact beam. A weight reduction of 34% was also achieved.
Over the past ten years, since the introduction of the side crash test regulation in Europe, much research work has been performed internationally to develop new and modified test procedures to improve the level of occupant protection offered by vehicles in side crash test. This research has been co-ordinated and finally contributed to development of an AE-MDB(Advanced European Moving Deformable Barrier) and WorldSID (Worldwide Side Impact Dummy). EuroNCAP(European New Car Assessment Program) has the plan to conduct AE-MDB side crash test using WorldSID from 2015 by replacing Progressive MDB and EuroSID II. Automobile manufacturers need to respond to these changes closely. This paper is to find dominant control factor and analyze it of WorldSID 50%ile dummy injury through AE-MDB side crash test by predicting best and worst condition. And control factors will be validated within EuroNCAP regulations. This paper is analyzed by DFSS(Design for six sigma) which contains 5 control factors and is evaluated by ANOVA with the data as a result of LS-DYNA analysis correlated with crash pulse from 50 kph AE-MDB side crash test using WorldSID 50%ile dummy.
A new dummy has improved biofidelity from Fair to Good compare with EuroSID2re which is currently used for regulation tests and NCAP tests. Some instrumentation of each body region has been changed to measure the assessment of injury risk. The objective of this study is to find out the injury characteristic of each dummy and to calculate the relation between external force and injury for each dummy with pendulum tests. Finally, this study suggests the optimized external force to meet consumer tests. A new dummy named WorldSID for side impact will be introduced into EuroNCAP tests after 2015. Korea government is also planning to adopt WorldSID at KNCAP tests from 2017 and Global Technical Regulation (GTR) will also adopt WorldSID to oblique side pole crash.
