This study examines how the rate of transition between employment and non-employment changes with the business cycle using monthly panel data constructed from 2000-2013 Korea Labor and Income Panel Study(KLIPS). In particular, we investigate whether the transition rates are different across demographic groups when the labor market is depressed. We find that, as the labor market weakens, the transition rate into non-employment significantly increases. The rates of transition into non-employment are substantially higher for female, older and less educated groups than those for male, prime-aged and more educated groups.
This study analyzes the difference of search efforts and labor market performance between employed searchers and unemployed searchers, using GOMS(Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey) data collected by Korea Employment Information Service. The results show that unemployed searchers concentrated on the job search more actively, and their reservation wage decreased more rapidly than that of employed searchers. Therefore, considering only new jobs, the probability of employment was lower and the wage was higher for employed searchers than for unemployed searchers. However, both the employment probability and the wage were higher for the employed searchers, if analyzing all jobs including existing jobs of employed searchers. The results of this study imply that the employed search may be more effective strategy than the unemployed search.

This study was aimed to analyze the Influence of Reasonable Accommodation on the Employment Probability and Job Retention of the People with disabilities. Survey on the employment discrimination of people with disabilities was utilized. The methodologies used in the study are logistic regression estimating job probability, multiple regression to evaluate job retention. As a result, reasonable accommodation for initial exam was not statistically significant on the employment probability. While, exam process reasonable accommodation was statistically significant on the employment probability. For job retention, recruit accommodation, workplace access accommodation were not significant on the job retention. While, company regulation and job adjustment was statistically significant on the job retention. It is necessary to be provided with reasonable accommodations in the direction of increasing the employment and strengthening job retention of people with disabilities. There is a need to support and expand the reasonable accommodation to the employer by the policy.

In this paper, we study the influence analysis of admission and enrollment variables including individual characteristics variables on employment of graduate students at K university. First, logistic regression analysis is used to examine the main effects of admission, enrollment variables including student's individual characteristics on employment. Also, decision tree analysis is used to examine the interaction effects for the variables on employment. The results of this paper may be helpful to K university in designing effective job finding strategies for graduate students.

The purpose of this paper is to explain the factors affecting the wage of the vocational high school graduates. We particularly examine the effectiveness of controlling sample selection bias by employing the Tobit model and Heckman sample selection model. The major results are as follows. First it is shown that the Tobit model and Heckman sample selection model controlling sample selection bias is statistically significant. Hence all the independent variables seem to be statistically consistent with the theoretical model. Second, gender was statistically significant, both in the probability of employment and the wage. Third, the employment probability and wage of Maester high school graduates were shown to be high compared to all other graduates. Fourth, the higher parent's income, the higher are both the employment probability and the wage. Finally, parents education level, high school grade, satisfaction, and a number of licenses were found to be statistically significant, both in the probability of employment and wages.

In general, employment duration is influenced by the individual characteristics (level-1) as well as type of the occupational characteristics (level-2). That is, the data has hierarchical structure in the sense that individual employment duration is influenced by the individual-level variables (level-1) and the job-level (level-2) variables. In this paper, we study the determinants of the employment duration of youth-intern in the SMEs (small and medium enterprises) using Cox's mixed effect model. Major results at level-1 variables are as followings. First, the hazard rate of treatment group is lower than that of control group. Second, the hazard rate of woman is lower than that of man. Also, the hazard rate is lower, for the older and the workers working in the bigger company. Investigation of level-2 variables has shown that random effect for job-level is statistically significant.
This paper estimates the employment and wage effects of the duration of leave of absence for job preparation activities and the duration of leave of absence due to economic difficulties by using the first wave of the Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey of 2009 (2009GOMS1). The employment probability and wage increase by 1.6 percentage points and 4.0 percentage, respectively, with a month of the duration of leave for job preparation activities. The employment probability and wage decrease by 3.6 percentage points and 7.2 percentage, respectively, with a month of the duration of leave due to economic difficulties.
This study focus on unemployment and nonparticipation of youth. By dividing youth nonparticipants into 'house work and child care', 'studying and training', 'the others' categories, we estimate the potential wages with selectivity bias model and analyse the factors of choosing unemployment or nonparticipation with multinomial logit model. The differences between the potential market wage and the desired wage of the groups of 'studying and training', 'the others' in the nonparticipants are greater than those of the unemployment group. In the case of the man and lower age, and low schooling the differences of potential and desire wage are larger than woman and higher age, and high schooling. In the choice of unemployment and nonparticipation, man and higher age, and householder, and holder of qualification are not likely to opt nonparticipation. The experience of job lower the rate of probability to choose employment, but raise the rate of probability to choose unemployment and nonparticipation. These results mean that the quality of youth employment is very inferior.
This study explores school to work transition of female youth. Particularly, the analyses focus on a transition to the first job from the graduation, and exits of irregular employees from their first occupational status. Data used for the analysis are “The 4th Survey on Women's Employment”, collected by KWDI in 2001. The results show that it takes 1.54 years on average for transition. Significant factors that influence the probability of transition to the first job include economic situation and satisfaction level of major at college education. The general high school educated are less likely to move into the labor market. Only a half percent of irregular employees at their first jobs exits to regular employees or non-economically active status, and education levels and age cohorts have clear impacts of those exits. Majors in college education and holding irregular jobs before the graduation significantly affect the probability of being regular employees, while industry influences the exits to be non-economically active status.

The results showed that In college characteristics, the higher grade point average was and the more college was located in non-metropolitan area, the higher employment probability was. In the case of major field, Medicine, Education, Engineering, Social Science, Natural science in highest first order had employment probability higher than the reference group. The results showed that the number of qualification, interview skill & resume description skill program participation, and job search experience before and after graduation among employment preparation activities had an effect on employment. The rest, that is, vocational training, career employment curriculum, work experience program, career counseling program, employment camp, in-school job experience, employment goal status before graduation did not have an direct effect on employment.
