A Phenomenological Study on the Experiences of Parenting Burden of Working Mother with Young Children in Korea (어린 아동을 둔 취업모의 양육부담감 경험에 대한 현상학적 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the essential structure of the lived experience of working mothers' parenting burden in Korea. Methods: Eight working mothers with young children were interviewed. The Colaizzi analysis of phenomenological research was applied. Results: Seven theme clusters were extracted: a life with constant conflict, sense of guilt, feeling anxious because of lack of information about education for their children, social stigma as a deficient mother, family relationship becoming distant, a life being exhausted, day to day struggle. Conclusion: These results provide an opportunity to have a better understanding of the experiences of working mothers related to parenting their young children. It would also serve as a medium for the formulation of appropriate nursing intervention relevant to burdens of parenthood.

A study on the Balance between work and family according to the experience of child care support policy (돌봄노동의 사회적 지원 정책을 통해 본 일-가정 양립 실태에 대한 연구 : 학령전기 자녀를 둔 기혼취업여성의 경험을 중심으로)

  • Recently family policy and social policy have focused on the balance between the work and family of working parents. The purpose of this study is to analyze the status of the work-life balance of married working women. For this purpose the eight married working women who care for 1 or more pre-school child(ren) were interviewed. The questionnaire used was consisted of 4 themes : 1) child care, 2) working situation, 3) the work-life balance and 4) the need to improve related policies. Through the interviews and data analysis we found the following : 1) Accessibility to educarecenter was considered the most important factor for working moms when they choose an educarecenter. In order to improve accessibility of educarecenters we have to install more educarecenters with various level. 2) All respondents look maternity leave and they evaluated that other services were very weak in terms of quality, usefulness and accessibility. 3) Many childcare services aid in creating work and family balance, however they are not effective. Therefore future policies should focus on providing more options for working women for appropriate services according to childcare needs, working conditions and preferences.

A Study on Factors Related to Work-family Balance of Working Women with Children (유자녀 취업여성이 경험하는 일-가정 균형에 관련된 변인에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the factors related to how Korean working mothers balance work and family. We used the first year data of 1661 working mothers participating Korean Longitudinal Study of Women and Families. When mothers were living with their parents-in-law, reported higher level of work-family spillover; whereas satisfaction with husband's household chores was more their related to lower level of work-family spillover. Attitudes placing lower priority on family, disagreement on their works with husband, and traditional family role perception were related to higher level of work-family interference. We also found that salary, working hours, job satisfaction, and a series of maternity protection programs, including maternity leave, were significantly related to work-family balance.

  • Most of the women in Korea are experiencing changes in their status as it is very difficult to re-access to the labor market due to life events ranging from marriage to re-employment. Therefore, in this study, a study was conducted in consideration of qualifications as a factor that can help women with career breaks in employment. As a data analysis method, exploratory data analysis (EDA), a statistical technique to find out structural characteristics, was used. Using the data of vocational training courses for women with career interruptions in Korea, we studied how much the acquisition of a certificate is helpful for employment.

스타트업 활성화를 위한 대학생 스타트업 교육 방향 및 사례

  • 오늘날의 4차산업혁명시대에서는 전통적인 대기업보다는 신속하게 사업을 추진하는 스타트업이 혁신을 주도하고 있다. 스타트업은 문제 해결에 도전하는 활동을 수행하는 프로젝트 조직으로서, 개인사업자 또는 법인 등 법적으로 인정되는 기업을 설립하는 단계인 창업과는 분명히 구분되어야 한다. 다시 말해, 스타트업 활동을 통해 일정 수준 이상의 사업성을 검증하는 준비 단계의 창업 전 스타트업과 그 결과로 창업 과정을 거친 창업 후 스타트업으로 구분해야 한다. 또한, 현재 대부분의 대학교에서는 다양한 창업 교육교과/비교과 프로그램들을 진행하고 있는데, 실제 대학생 졸업 후 취업률 대비 창업률은 비율이 극히 낮은 실정이다. 이를 감안할 때 대학생에게 창업을 목표로 하기 보다는, 도전적인 창업가 정신을 함양하고 스타트업 활동 중심의 교육을 통해 자신의 진로 적성을 찾고, 그 분야의 스타트업에의 취업을 우선 목표로 하는 교육이 스타트업의 인력난 문제를 해결한다는 측면에서 볼 때 스타트업 생태계 발전에 보다 바람직하다. 본 연구에서는 먼저 캠퍼스 스타트업 문화 확산을 위한 교육 방향으로 스타트업 관련한 '경험 확대 - 진로 선택 - 실무 체험 - 진로 실행' 단계별 지원을 제안한다. 다음으로 실제 대학교에서 개설하고 운영한 일련의 교육 프로그램으로서 진로 지도, 스타트업 활동 이해, 스타트업 활동용 디지털 리터러시, 스타트업 협력 프로젝트, 스타트업 인턴 준비 교육 과정 및 결과들을 사례로 소개한다.

  • Hospitality industry offers internship programs to the students who have studied hospitality related majors in a college, giving them opportunities to improve their executive ability through academic knowledge. However, it has been found that there are several issues against the purposes such as unconcern, work burden, inadequate reward, and discontent. In this respect, this study aims to suggest the advisable solutions to achieve the original purposes of an internship program by examining the effects of the perception of the internship program, anticipation for it, satisfaction with it, and job pursuit intentions after finishing it. Positive factors for the perception of internship training are businesses, allocation of departments, working environments, students abilities, and academical knowledge while its term and reward from it are not the influential factors. The positive perception of the internship training is influenced by affirmative importance-performance thinking, but positive job pursuit intentions is not affected by affirmative perception of the training.

A Study on a Curriculum Based on the Demands of the Industry (산업체 수요지향적 교과과정에 대한 연구)

  • As the competition among college graduates in the job market keeps getting intense, the educators' role of preparing students to get well adapted to the job environments should be more emphasized. However, in reality, many firms admit that many entry-level employees out of college need to be reeducated in a variety of areas. To resolve this problem, the current paper aims to propose some suggestions for a better school curriculum that reflects the needs and demands of the industry. The present proposal is based on my empirical knowledge from the department of computer science of the college where I am teaching and can be applied to other colleges. The suggestions for restructuring of a curriculum are expected to help students actively deal with the trend of developing technology. This restructured curriculum should help colleges produce workers with a good balance of academy and industry who can be assigned to work without being reeducated in the field.

경제위기(經濟危機) 이후(以後) 노동시장(勞動市場) 정책방향(政策方向)

  • 1997년 말 외환위기 이후 한국의 노동시장은 빠르게 변화하고 있다. 외환위기에서 2년이 경과한 현재 실업률이 빠르게 하락하고 임금수준은 위기 이전으로 회복되었으나, 고용수준은 아직 회복되지 않은 상황이다. 현재의 상황에서 우려되는 것은 1970년대 이후 유럽에서 발생한 것처럼 고실업이 지속되는 현상이다. 본고에서는 여러 가지 분석을 통하여 이러한 우려가 현실로 나타날 수 있는 가능성에 대하여 경고하고 있다. 향후 고용 및 실업정책의 최우선 목표는 본원적인 일자리 창출을 통해 구조적 실업률을 저하시키기 위한 종합적인 정책의 시행에 두어져야 한다고 판단된다. 이는 실업과 분배문제를 동시에 해결할 수 있는 기초라 여겨지기 때문이다. 이를 위해서는 일자리의 창출을 위하여 수십년 동안 경험을 축적한 OECD국가의 경험을 참고할 필요가 있을 것이다. 현재 OECD국가에서는 일자리의 창출을 위하여 개별기업의 상황에 맞게 임금결정구조의 분권화를 지속적으로 추구하고 있으며, 임금상승률의 결정은 과거의 물가상승률이나 생산성 증가 등의 지수화에 의존하던 정책을 포기하고 미래지향적으로 물가상승의 예측치만큼 설정한 후 그 변동분은 사후적으로 고려하는 소득정책협약(income policy agreements)을 추구하고 있다. 이는 일자리 창출을 통해 경제의 성과를 기존의 취업자 외에 실업자와 신규근로자에게 분배하기 위한 수단으로 사용하고 있음을 의미한다. 한편 노동시장 유연성 제고를 통한 일자리의 창출은 소득분배를 악화시키는 경향이었다는 점이 유럽과 미국에서 발견된 경험 중의 하나이다. 따라서 일자리의 창출과 분배의 상충관계(trade-off)를 염두에 둘 필요는 있으나, 일자리의 창출은 일자리를 가짐으로써 불평등도를 개선하는 고용효과(employment effect)가 임금격차의 발생으로 불평등도를 확대시키는 임금효과(income effect)를 상쇄할 경우 오히려 분배구조를 개선시킬 수도 있다.

Effects on Dental Caries of Chilren's Deciduous Teeth in Relation to their Mothers' Socioeconomic Factors and their Oral Health Beliefs (모친의 사회경제적 요인과 구강건강신념의 유치우식증에 미치는 영향)

  • The aim of this study was to analyze the dental caries of chilren's deciduous teeth in relation to their mothers' socioeconomic factors and their oral health beliefs to increase the effect on children's oral health. One hundred seventy four children and their mothers were selected for the study. The children were 5 and 6 years old in children house in Kun-san, Korea. Research was conducted by oral examination, their mothers' socioeconomic factors and dental health belief model. The finding of analysis can be summaried as follows; In regard to the caries in deciduous teeth status, the five-year-old boy children's dft index was 3.39 and that of the girls of the same age was 2.76. The dft index of the boys of six was 3.86 and that of the girls of the same age was 3.27. The five-year-old boy children had the highest df rate(81.8%), and their dt rate was more than their ft rate. But for the six-year-old girl children, ft rate was higher than dt rate. For the five years old, the boy children's ft rate was significantly higher than that of the girls(p<0.05). Concerning the caries in deciduous teeth states by socioeconomic factors, their oral health status was significantly different according to mother employment and householder age. The df rate of the preschoolers with working mothers(84.7%) was significantly higher than that of those with nonworking mothers(66.7%)(p<0.05). The dft index of the group whose households were over forty was highest with 4.07, followed by the children of the households aged 35 to 39 with 3.83, those of the households aged 25 to 29 with 3.33, and those of the households aged 30 to 34 with 2.15. The difference between the groups was significant(p<0.05). As to the difference of maternal dental health beliefs by maternal socioeconomic factors, households educational background and whether to live with parents or parents-in-law under the same roof made a significant difference to maternal oral health beliefs. The mothers whose households were college graduates or better-educated were stronger in oral health susceptibility and seriousness(p<0.01, p<0.05). The salience was recognized more by those who lived with parents or parents-in-law than by the others who didn't(p<0.05). The dft index of the preschoolers was related to maternal dental health beliefs. That was lower when their mothers perceived dental health benefit better.

Effect of K University Dental Hygiene Department students' participation in overseas clinical practice on satisfaction with practice, major, and intention to work abroad (K 대학교 치위생학과 학생의 해외임상실습참여가 임상실습만족도, 전공만족도 및 해외취업의사에 미치는 영향)

  • Background: This study analyzed the differences in practice satisfaction, major, and willingness to work abroad among dental hygiene department students at K University in Gangwon-do based on their participation in international practicums. Methods: A survey was conducted on a total of 215 students through convenience sampling of dental hygiene students, and the final 214 responses were analyzed. General characteristics were examined. Major satisfaction and grades were measured on a 5-point Likert scale. And satisfaction with practice, intention to participate in international practicums, and employment were investigated by papers. Descriptive statistical analysis was performed on general characteristics using SPSS software (version 26.0). Due to the convenience sample, nonparametric analysis was used to determine satisfaction with practice and major according to general characteristics using the Mann-whitney U and Kruskal-wallis test. An independent samples t-test was conducted to determine the difference between practice satisfaction and major satisfaction depending on participation in international practicums, and Fisher's exact test was conducted to determine practice satisfaction, willingness to participate in overseas internships, and employment. Results: Concerning future participation in international clinical practicums, 66.7% of students who had previously participated in overseas training expressed willingness to engage again. 40.9% of those who had not participated showed no intention of participating, and there was a significant difference (p<0.05). Additionally, 76.2% of the participants expressed interest in overseas employment, with this difference also being statistically significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was confirmed that students' satisfaction with practice and major increased through participation in international practicums, and that they had a positive intention to work abroad and participate in overseas internship programs in the future.
