Experimental Investigation on Cracks and Defects of a Valve Sealing Components for a LPG Cylinder (LPG 용기용 밸브의 밀봉부품 크랙 및 결함에 관한 실험적 고찰)

  • This paper presents an experimental investigation on the sealing defects and cracks of O-rings and a valve packing of a gas valve for a LPG cylinder. O-ring in which stops a gas leakage of a liquefied petroleum gas is very important for a LPG valve safety. Valve packing is to open and close a gas flow port for supplying and charging a LPG fuel. The sealing performance of two sealing units ism related to the leak safety and long lift of a gas valve. The investigated results show that most of O-rings was failed due to a circumferential crack in which is caused by partial press bonding failure near the partition zone and an excess compression rate. Some of the O-ring failure was originated by an extrusion of an excessive leak pressure of a LP gas. Thus, this paper strongly recommends a tight quality control and a safety guarantee system of O-rings and valve packing to guarantee a leak safety and to extend a service lift of a gas valve. At the end, a warranty policy of the sealing units should be adopted for increasing a product quality and safety of a gas valve.

A Study on Indirect Attachment Method of Compensation Materials to Increase Signal Intensity in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (자기공명영상검사 시 신호강도를 높이기 위한 보상물질의 간접부착 방식에 관한 연구)

  • Previously, studies on compensation material to increase the signal intensity have been conducted which does not affect the reading of images. However, the compensation material has a concern on patient infection as it is attached directly on the skin. Therefore, in this study, we tested an indirect attachment of the compensation material as an alternative method of the direct attachment. The silicon compensation material was fabricated in the form of a cylindrical bar and attached to each element of the 8 channel head coil. Then the signal intensities of the water phantom pre and post application of the silicon were measured. T1 and T2-weighted images were acquired using an 8-channel head coil and a 3.0T superconducting MRI. Signal intensities were measured by using an image measuring program. Paired t-test was used to verify if there were significant differences. The signal intensity before application of the silicon was significantly increased by 3.39% and 2.62% in T1 and T2 weighted images, respectively. Although the indirect attachment method had a limitation to completely replace the existing method, it was considered to be useful in patients with infectious diseases such as diabetic complications since it had a meaningful improvement in signal intensity based on the filling factor increase.

A Case Study and Analysis of the Causes for Natural Gas Vehicle Accidents (천연가스자동차 사고사례 및 원인분석)

  • I collected the cases of CNG vehicle accidents which had happened for 30 years and analyzed the causes of the accidents according to each type of cylinders. There are about six accidents including three cylinder explosion accidents due to bad heat treatment, one composite damage, one CNG vehicle fire, and one fuel piping accident owing to the poor maintenance. When looking into the cylinder types involved in the accidents and the causes, 29% of the cylinder accidents are Type I and 24% Type IV, 16% Type II, and 14% Type III. 37% of the accidents are caused by the defects of the raw materials and the errors of a manufacturing process, 16% by the stress corrosion cracking as a result of the repetitive use, 15% by the cylinder's explosion on account of the malfunction of PRD(Pressure Relief Device) and the overpressure. The remainders of the causes are fire and unknown causes. Therefore, cylinder manufacturers have to strengthen quality management of raw materials and manufacturing process and painting regardless of each type of cylinder. Also bus operators need to make an effort to keep safety condition through every day check.

  • Vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) is an energy conversion device in which charging and discharging are alternatively carried out by oxidation and reduction reactions of vanadium ions with different oxidation states. VRFB consists of electrolyte, electrode, ion-exchange membrane, etc. The role of ion-exchange membranes in VRFB separates anolyte and catholyte and provides a high conductivity to hydrogen ions. Recently much attention has been devoted to develop ideal ion-exchange membranes for VRFB. A number of developed ion-exchange membranes should be evaluated to find out ideal ion-exchange membranes for VRFB. Long-term durability test is a crucial characterization of ion-exchange membranes for commercialization, but is very time-consuming. In this study, the life time prediction protocol of ion-exchange membranes in VRFB cell tests was developed through short-term single cell performance evaluation (real total operation time, 87.5 hrs) at three different current densities. We confirmed a decrease in test time up to 96.2% of real durability tests (expected total operation time, 2,296 hrs) and 5~6% of relative error discrepancy between the predicted and the real life time in a unit cell.

  • current mine detector can't division the section if it is conducted and it needs too much labor force and time. in addition to, if the user don't move the head of sensor in regular speed or move it too fast, it is hard to detect a mine exactly. according to this, to improve the problem using one direction ultrasonic wave sensing signal, that is made up of human body antenna part, main micro processor unit part, smart glasses part, body equipped LCD monitor part, wireless data transmit part, belt type power supply part, black box type camera, Security Communication headset. the user can equip this at head, body, arm, waist and leg in removable type. so it is able to detect the powder in a 360-degree on(under) the ground whether it is metal or nonmetal and it can express the 2D or 3D film about distance, form and material of the mine. so the battle combats can avoid the mine and move fast. also, through the portable battery and twin self power supply system of the power supply part, combat troops can fight without extra recharge and we can monitoring the battle situation of distant place at the command center server on real-time. and then, it makes able to sharing the information of battle among battle combats one on one. as a result, the purpose of this study is researching a smart wearable mine detector which can establish a smart battle system as if the commander is in the site of the battle.

  • In this research, evaluation of adhesion in tension property of SBR-modified concrete to ordinary portland cement concrete was conducted with uniaxial direct tensile bond test which was proposed by Kuhlmann. A test set-up was fabricated in order to minimize the eccentric force by introducing a joint which might fully rotate. The main experimental variables were cement-latex ratios, surface preparations and moisture levels. The results obtained were as follows: The LMC specimen at 15% latex-cement ratio increased the adhesion in tension by range of 37% compared to that of conventional cement concrete. This might be due to latex film formed between cement paste and aggregate. The effects of surface preparation on bond of latex modified concrete to conventional concrete were significant at the conditions by sand paper and wire brush. A better bond could be achieved by rough surface rather than smooth. The saturated and surface dry (SSD) condition were considered to be the most appropriate moisture level followed by wet, finally by dry. Thus, a proper surface preparation and moisture level are quite necessity in order to obtain better bonding at LMC overlay.

$CH_4-H_2-N_2 $ 기체계에서 MW-PACVD를 이용한 결정상의 합성

  • 다이아몬드 합성시 질소 첨가는 Cn 화합물의 합성가능성을 비롯하여 다이아몬드의 질소 도핑, 성장 속도 및 결정성 변화 등 다양한 관점에서 중요한 의미를 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 다이아몬드의 일반적인 합성조건에서 질소를 첨가하여 합성된 막의 형상 및 상 변화에 대해 고찰하였다. 막은 다이아몬드 전처리시킨 Si 기판위에 microwave plasma CVD 장치를 이용하여 합성하였다. 유입되는 혼합가스(CH4+H2+N2)에서 N2 첨가량을 0-95%까지 변화시켰다. 이때 CH4 농도는 5%로 고정하였고, 합성온도는 90$0^{\circ}C$-115$0^{\circ}C$까지 변화시켰다. 이와 같이 합성된 막의 표면조직 및 성장 두께를 측정하기 위해 주사전자현미경을 이용하였다. 상의 분석은 Raman, XRD 및 TEM 분석을 이용하였으며, 조성분석을 위해 XPS 및 AES를 사용하였다. 질소 첨가량에 따라 합성된 막은 첨가하지 않은 경우에 다이아몬드 결정에서 시작하여 질소첨가에 따라 결정면이 깨지는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 30%, 45%의 경우는 다시 결정면이 나타났다. 다량의 질소가 첨가되었을 때, 다시 결정면을 보이는 다이아몬드가 합성된 것은 매우 흥미로운 결과이다. 한편 질소와 메탄만의 기체하에서는 다시 결정면이 관찰되지 않았다. 이들 상의 구조는 XRD 및 TED 분석을 통해 모두 다이아몬드로 확인되었다. 기체내의 질소의 첨가에 관계없이 고상내에 질소는 확인되지 않았다. 따라서 이방법에 의한 CN 화합물의 합성은 힘든 것으로 보여진다. 이들 실험 결과를 근거로 온도 및 조성에 따른 기체의 열역학적 계산을 통하여 합성거동과의 연관성을 검토하였다. anode는 매우 높은 충전용량을 갖는데 첫 번째 방전시에 Li2O를 생성하여 비가역적 반응을 나타내고 계속되는 충방전 동안 Li-Sn 합금이 생성되어 2차전지의 가역적 반응을 가능하게 한다. SnO2 는 대기중에서 Li 금속보다 안정하기 때문에 전지의 제작 공정 및 사용 면에서 매우 우수한 물질이지만 아직까지 SnO2 구조적 특성과 전지의 충, 방전 특성에 대한 관계의 규명을 위한 정확한 정설은 제시되고 있지 못하다. 본 연구에서는 TFSB anode 물질로써 SnOx박막을 상온에서 여러 전도성 콜렉터 위에 증착하여 그 충, 방전 특성을 보고하였다. 증착된 SnOx박막의 표면은 SEM, AFM으로 분석하였으며 구조의 분석은 XR와 Auger electron spectroscope로 하였다. 충, 방전 특성을 분석하기 위하여 리늄 foil을 대극과 참조 전극으로 하여 EC:DMC=1:1, 1M LiPF6 액체 전해질을 사용한 Half-Cell를 구성하여 100회 이상의 정전류 충, 방전 시험을 행하였다.   • The purpose of this study was to compare the amount of fluoride release and remineralizing effect of compomer with those of glass ionomer cement and composite resin. Composite resin($Z-100^{(R)}$) was used for negative control group(Group I), glass ionomer(Fuji II $LC^{(R)}$) for positive control group(Group IV), compomer(Dyract $AP^{(R)}$ and $F-2000^{(R)}$) for experimental group(Group II and Group III). The results obtained can be summarized as follows : 1. Glass ionomer showed the higher amount of fluoride release than compomer groups. Composite resin showed no fluoride release during test period. 2. Significant evidence of remineralization could be noticed in samples of all groups. The highest degree of remineralization was observed in glass ionomer group followed by compomer group. The least evidence of remineralization was observed in composite resin group. 3. Microhardness values of carious site was lower than control site, but Microhardness values of caries site at form away from filling materials in group II, III, IV was significantly higher than the other area. Based on the above results, compomer could be considered as one of the very attractive restorative materials in the field of pediatric dentistry.

  • Recently, the traditional paradigm in railroad technology is changing as more efficient and cost-effective electric vehicle (EV) technologies have emerged. The original concept of PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) proposed in the past has come to be regarded as unrealistic, but its feasibility is improving through the utilization of an EV platform. In particular, battery-powered vehicles pose difficult technical challenges in attempts to achieve reliable and efficient operation. However, based on the inductive power transfer (IPT) technology, the fast charging of supercapacitors with high energy density can contribute to overcoming this technical challenge and promote the transition to electric-powered ground transportation by improving the appearance of cities. This study discusses the development process of a power supply system for PRT, including concept design, numerical analysis, and device manufacturing, along with performance predictions and evaluations. In terms of results, the system was found to meet the performance requirements for power supply modules on a test-bed.

Fluidization Study in the Fluidized Bed Drying of Naked and Husked Barley (쌀보리와 겉보리의 유동층 건조에서의 유동화 연구)

  • To keep up with urgent need of continuous, effective and rapid drying unit, a fluidized bed drying system with computer controlling air temperature, velocity and relative humidity was designed. This study was attempted to determine physical properties and some basic experiments of fluidized bed d교ing of barley. Also experimental data of the designed fluidized bed drying system using the barely were compared with those of published equations to confirm the reliability of the system and the following results were obtained. The physical dimension husked barley were shown larger than that of naked barley from the experiment. When air temperature. relative humidity and charged amount were $35^{\circ}C$, 30% and 300g respectively, the minimum fluidization velocity of naked and husked barley were found 1.5 m/s and 1.7 m/s. And the optimum fluidization velocity was shown as 3.0 m/s from the experiment. The empirical equation of $U_{mf}$ in this fluidized system was obtained as follow; $U_{mf}^2= \frac{{\phi_s}\;d_p}{Hk}\;{\cdot}\;\frac{(\rho_s-\rho_g)g\;{{\varepsilon}_{mf}^3}} {\rho_g}(Re_p>1,000)$ Where HK=0.4881 for naked barley, 0.6649 for husked barley.
