Hydrogenated amorphous carbon (a-C:H) films were deposited by ECR-PECVD (electron cyclotron resonance-plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition) method with deposition conditions such as ECR plasma source power, gas composition of methane and hydrogen, deposition time and substrate bias voltage. The hydrogen content in the films has been measured by ERDA (elastic recoil detection analysis) using 2.5 MeV $He^{++}$ ion beam. From the results of AES (Auger electron spectroscopy), RBS (Rutherford backscattering spectrometry) and ERDA, the composition elements of deposited film were confirmed the carbon atom and the hydrogen atom. It was observed by FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) that the hydrogen contents in the film varied according to the deposition conditions. In deposition condition of substrate bias voltage, the hydrogen contents were decreased remarkably because the amount of dehydrogenation in films was increased as the substrate bias voltage increased. In the rest deposition conditions, the hydrogen contents in the film were measured in the range 45~55%.

Memory hierarchy is a useful mechanism for improving the memory access speed and making the program space larger by layering the memories and separating program spaces from memory spaces. However, it needs at least two memory accesses for each data reference : a TLB(Translation Lookaside Buffer) access for the address translation and a data cache access for the desired data. If the cache size increases to the multiplication of page size and the cache associativity, it is difficult to access the TLB with the cache in parallel, thereby making longer the critical timing path in the processor. To achieve such parallel accesses, we present the hybrid mapped TLB which combines a direct mapped TLB with a very small fully-associative mapped TLB. The former can reduce the TLB access time. while the latter removes the conflict misses from the former. The trace-driven simulation shows that under given workloads the proposed TLB is effective even when a fully-associative mapped TLB with only four entries is added because the effects of its increased misses are offset by its speed benefits.

Particle-in-cell method which blends Eulerian grids and Lagrangian particle is utilized to solve simplified hall-effect thruster. Since this study individually tracks not only neutrons and ions but also electrons, message passing interface(mpi) scheme is adopted for parallel computer cluster. Helical movement of an electron cloud in constant magnetic field is validated comparing with an exact solution. A plasma in radial magnetic field and axial electric field in a reaction cylinder is established. Electrons do double helix movement and are well anchored in a cylinder. Ionization of neutrons by impact with high-speed electrons generates ion particles. They are accelerated by axial electric field, which forms a plume of a plasma-effect thruster.

In this paper, we design and verify the MAC chip of the two-stage AWG-based WDM-PON which considers 128 ONUs and 32 wavelengths. Each wavelength with the capacity of 1Gbps is allocated to ONU for downstream transmission but each wavelength for upstream transmission can be shared by four ONUs. Therefore, MAC protocol is required to avoid the collision and use the network resource efficiently among ONUs which are sharing the same wavelength. To design a request/permit-based MAC protocol, we define a unit-chip module called sub-MAC. The WDM-PON with 128 ONUs can be implemented by using 32 sub-MAC modules. The sub-MAC consists of one control unit, one receipt unit and four transmission units. The state transition diagram of the module is described by the internal/external control signals among the functional units. The function of the sub-MAC module is verified through logic simulation using ModelSIM.

This paper proposes a dual real-time scheduling design under real-time constraints kernel environments. In this paper, we have designed both the real-time kernel and the general kernel that have their different properties to satisfy these properties, that is, interrupt latency, scheduling precision, and message passing. In real-time tasks, interrupt processing should be run. In general kernel, non real-time tasks or general tasks are run. Also, when tasks conflict, it executed the mixed priority scheduling that non real-time kernel executed static scheduling and real-time kernel executed dynamic priority transformation scheduling, that is, least-laxity-first/minimization preemption scheduling. We have compared the results of this study for performance of the proposal real-time kernel with both RT Linux 0.5a and QNX 4.23A, that is, of interrupt latency scheduling precision and message passing.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify the comparison of the effects of manual therapy combined with exercise on range of motion (ROM), muscle strength, and functional performance in adolescent baseball players with internal impingement syndrome of the shoulder. Methods : The subjects were 30 patients diagnosed with impingement syndrome of the shoulder. Thirty subjects are randomly assigned to each 3 different groups; Group 1. (exercise group), Group 2. (exercise+mobilization; EMOB group), Group 3. (exercise+mobilization with movement; EMWM group). The interventions were performed three times a week for 4 weeks. The main outcome measures were goniometer, Biodex dynamometer, and Korean Kerlan Jobe shoulder-elbow (K-KJOC) scores. The ROM (external and internal rotation), muscle strength (external and internal rotation: 60 °/sec., 180 °/sec.), and functional performance were compared among the groups. Results : No significant difference was observed among the groups in the range of external rotation of the shoulder before and after the intervention, but the range of internal and total rotation was significantly increased in Group 2, 3 compared to Groups 1. Muscle strength of external and internal rotation (60 °/sec., 180 °/sec.) was not significantly different among Group 1, 2, 3, and functional performance was significantly increased in Group 2, 3 compared to Group 1. However, there was no significant difference between Group 2 and Group 3 in all measurements. Conclusion : An intervention with manual therapy such as EMOB and EMWM was more effective than exercise alone for rapid recovery from shoulder injury and improvement in functional performance. However, further efforts are needed to identify effects of specific interventions with manual therapy.
A membrane-coupled sequencing batch reactor (MSBR) was used for the advanced treatment of rural village sewage which is very low C/N ratio. The effect of powdered activated carbon, aeration rate, and external organic material loadings on the treatment efficiency and filtration performance were investigated in sequencing batch reactor, in which a flat-sheet type microfiltration membrane with a pore size of $0.4{\mu}m$ was submerged. At the initial operation (within 54 days) MLSS concentration, and the removal efficiencies of COD, T-N, and T-P were increased with the increase of C/N ratio. After 89 days the removal efficiencies of COD, T-N, and T-P were 97.1%, 75.0%, and 48.3%, respectively. Suspended solid-free effluent was obtained by membrane filtration. The T-P removal was relatively low because of depending on the amount of excess sludge wasting. During the operation of MSBR with powdered activated carbon, the particle size of the sludge reduced by the increase of collision frequency and mixing intensity. In comparison with MSBR without powdered activated carbon, TMP of MSBR with that was significantly elevated.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to identify the effects of joint mobilization intervention combined with exercise on range of motion (ROM), pain intensity, and functional performance in adolescent baseball players with internal impingement syndrome of the shoulder. METHODS: The subjects were 30 adolescent baseball players diagnosed with internal impingement. Ten subjects were randomly assigned to each of 3 groups: Group 1 (exercise only), Group 2 (joint mobilization combined with exercise), and Group 3 (rest-only control group). Three weekly interventions were given for 4 weeks (the control group rested for 4 weeks). The main outcome measures were goniometer, visual analogue scale (VAS), and Korean Kerlan Jobe shoulder-elbow (K-KJOC) scores. The ROM (external and internal rotation), pain intensity (at the moment of throwing), and functional performance were compared among the groups. RESULTS: No significant difference was observed among the groups in the range of external rotation of the shoulder before and after the intervention, but the range of internal rotation was significantly increased in Group 2 compared to Groups 1 and 3. Pain intensity was significantly lower in Group 2 than in Group 1 and 3, and functional performance was significantly increased in Group 2 compared to Group 1 and 3. CONCLUSION: An intervention that combined joint mobilization with exercise was more effective than resting or exercise alone for rapid recovery from sports injury and improvement in athletic performance.

A series of combustion test was done to verify the optimization result of a gas generator for a 10 ton thrust liquid rocket engine. An injector element is F-O-F impinging type injector and the test was conducted with kerosene/LOX propellants. Test results of combustion temperature and pressure show a very good agreement with optimal design result and verify that the design method was properly established. And turbulence ring revealed its effectiveness in enhancing combustion gas mixing and temperature difference in the radial direction showed only less than 15K. Also turbulence ring induced only 3.2% pressure loss in the combustion chamber, which is far less than conventional level observed in a gas turbine engine. Axial temperature distribution also shows that turbulence ring could effectively reduce about 10% or more in gas generator length if its location is properly selected.

Previous studies showed that many secondary school students and teachers have difficulties in distinguishing the phenomena of dissolution and diffusion, as well as the phenomena of diffusion and effusion. In this study, currently accepted term definitions of dissolution, diffusion and effusion were searched from the IUPAC Gold Book and the physical chemistry textbooks, and the points to differentiate the definitions were sought. Also, the term definitions of these three phenomena in the secondary school text books and the college general chemistry textbooks were surveyed and compared to the currently accepted definitions. It was found that dissolution is formation of one new phase from mixing two phases, while diffusion is the migration of matter down from the concentration gradient. The "concentration gradient" is considered to be a key point to distinguish diffusion from the dissolution. However, the concentration gradient was not mentioned in the definitions of diffusion in most of the secondary school textbooks and the college general chemistry textbooks. Effusion is differentiated from diffusion by the gas molecules escaping from the container through a tiny hole without collision. The definition of effusion was not found in most of the secondary school textbooks.
