Energy Absorption of Collision Post Based on North American CFR Regulations for Railway Vehicles (철도차량의 북미 CFR 법규에 대한 충돌 기둥에너지 흡수에 관한 연구)

  • In accidents involving the collision of railway vehicles, there is a risk that structural members might penetrate the cab frame of the railway vehicle in the space in which the driver or passengers are seated. To reduce this risk, worldwide, studies on the collision of railway vehicles are underway. In North America, the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) was revised in 2010 to include crush criteria for a collision and the corner post in an end frame. In this study, a crush analysis and crush test for a collision post and a crash analysis for a rigid cylinder were performed according to the CFR. The analysis and test results were compared and reviewed. This study aims to determine the usefulness of crush analysis for developing various end frames, and to understand the crush and crash characteristics and review the accuracy of the analysis.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate the characteristics of static and total pressure distribution in the upward free water jet system impinged on a downward flat plate. The rectangular nozzle was used and its contraction and aspect ratio was five and about seven respectively. Experimental conditions considered were jet velocity, distance between nozzle and flat plate, height of supplementary water. It was founded that pressure distribution on the flat plate had the Gaussian curve when the pressure at stagnation point and impinging half width were chosen as the scaling parameters. The maximum pressure was shown at the stagnation point. The central impingement velocity decreased with the increment of distance between nozzle and flat plate, and its slop of decay was similar to that of chracteristics decay region in the three-dimensional free jet.

  • Linkage positions in oligosaccharides may be obtained by FAB CAD MS/MS (Fast Atom Bombardment Collision Activated Dissociation Mass Spectrometry/Mass Spectrometry). Acetylated derivatives of the linkage-isomeric trisaccharides exhibited more useful product ion patterns than the free trisaccharides and provided specific fragmentation patterns according to linkage positions. The reason for the useful linkage dependent spectra patterns of acetylated forms is related to the ability of each linkage in the oligosaccharides to absorb different levels of collision energy and rotational freedom of the individual glycosidic linkage.

  • DLC(diamond-like carbon)박막을 RF PCVD법으로 증착하여 일반적인 증착특성과 마찰.마모특성사이의 관계를 알아보기 위해, 증착속도, 박막경도, 내무압축응력 및 박막내의 수소량 측정을 통해 일반적인 증착특성을 조사하였다. 그리고 증착된 박막의 C-H 결합구조와 물질특성 분성을 위해 각각 FTIR 및 Raman분광분석을 행하였다. 박막의 마찰계수와 내마모특성은 Pin-on-disk형 마찰시험기를 이용하여 상기의 증착조건과의 상관관계를 조사하였다. DC self-bais, 즉 충돌에너지가 커지면 박막의 증착속도와 경도는 대체로 증가하고, 박막내의 압축응력은 최대값을 가지다가 다시 감소됨을 알 수 있언ㅆ다. 또한 박막내의 수소량은 급격히 감소하다가 포화됨을 알 수 있었다. 얻어진 박막의 마찰계수는 최소 0.08로 분위기가 dry일 때 더 작으며 내마모성은 이온의 충돌에너지와 밀접한 관계를 가지며 모재인 Si-wafer보다 훨씬 큼을 알수 있었다.

  • Thin-walled tubes have been widely used as energy absorbing devices because they are light and have high energy-absorption efficiency. However, the downside is that conventional thin-walled tubes usually exhibit an excessive initial peak crushing force (IPCF) and a large fluctuation in the load-displacement curve, and thus lack stability as energy absorbing devices. Corrugated tubes were introduced to reduce IPCF and to increase the stability of collision energy-absorbing devices. Since the performance of corrugated tubes is highly influence by geometry, design optimization methods can be utilized to optimize the performance of corrugated tubes. In this paper, we utilize shape design optimization based on an adaptive surrogate model for crashworthiness analysis. The amplitude and wavelength of the corrugation, as well as curvature changes in the features, are the design variables. A morphing methodology is adopted to perform shape design parameterization. Through numerical examples, we compare optimal design results based on the adaptive surrogate model, with optimal results based on conventional surrogate models, and we show that direct optimal design methods produce more efficient results.

Collision Analysis between FRP Fishing Boats According to Various Configurations (여러 가지 충돌 상황에 따른 FRP 어선 간의 충돌 해석)

  • In this paper, collision analysis is carried out between two FRP fishing boats. A computer simulation with finite element method is used to accomplish this objective. At first, a detailed geometric model of the boat is constructed using 3-D CAD program. The formation of a finite element from a geometric data of the boats is carried out using HYPERMESH that is the commercial software for mesh generation and post processing. Twelve collision configurations are established by combining two kinds of contact angle($90^{\circ},\;135^{\circ}$) and three different speed(5, 10, 15knot) for small and large boats. Collision analysis is accomplished using DYNA3D. Stress distribution and deformation shape are investigated for each collision condition. In general, $90^{\circ}$ collision angle generate larger stress than $135^{\circ}$ case and the collision for two moving boats showed larger maximum stress than the case that one is moving and the other is stationary. When analysis is carried out until 150ms contact parts of two boats are broken for 10 and 15knot collision speed, in which maximum stress is larger than ultimate strength of the material.

  • The obstacle deflector sweeps obstacles off the track or absorbs crash energy with an energy absorber to prevent derailment of a train and to minimize damage and casualties after an accident. In this study, an obstacle deflector and its operational mechanism were designed with a tension-type energy absorber and a 4-bar linkage system. Also, a test method was suggested and verified with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and UTM (Universal Test Machine) for testing of the static load and energy absorbing ability according to EN 15227 regulations. Through this study, an obstacle deflector that meets the EN 15227 standard was designed and a test method was suggested to adjust the collapse load easily and to verify it experimentally according to the design and verification procedure of the obstacle deflector.

  • 급경사면의 세류간 토양침식은 지표면과의 강우입자 충돌에 의한 튀김현상과 면상흐름에 의한 토사이송 능력의 상호작용에 의해 영향을 받는다. 강우운동에너지와 면상흐름이 세류간 토양침식 및 토사유출 발생에 있어서 상대적인 기여도에 대한 연구는 국내뿐만 아니라 전 세계적으로도 미흡하다. 본 연구에서는 강우현상을 재현할 수 있는 강우모의 실험장비와 사면 토양침식 실험을 위한 소규모 토양플롯을 제작하여 실험에 사용하였다. 강우모의에 의한 강우운동에너지는 자연강우의 운동에너지 산정식의 계산결과와 비교했을 때, 약 0.58배의 규모를 재현했다. 강우입자의 충돌을 제어하기 위한 스트립을 토양플롯에 올려놓은 경우와 커버가 없는 나지상태에서 강우모의 실험을 한 경우 사면에서 발생한 지표유출수, 지표하유출수 및 토사유출 자료를 측정하고 분석하였다. 강우강도가 증가함에 따라 지표유출량은 증가하고, 지표하유출량은 상대적으로 감소했다. 지표커버는 지표유출의 첨두유량 발생시간을 지연시켰으며, 지표유출량과 지하수량의 변화를 초래했다. 지표커버에 의해 지표유출량은 평균 1.82배 감소하지만, 토사유출량은 평균 4.93배로 상대적으로 크게 감소하였다. 단위수류력과 토사유출량과 관계를 분석한 결과 강우운동에너지는 토양입자의 튀김현상에 의한 침식을 증가시킬 뿐만 아니라 지표유출수의 유속을 증가시켜 토사이송능력을 가중시키는 것을 확인하였다.

Prediction of Ships' Bow Structural Damage during Collisions (충돌시 선수구조의 손상추정에 관한 연구)

  • Prediction of energy absorption for bow structure is important for a design of protective structures against collision. For the crushing behaviour of basic element of energy absorption, the plastic mechanism method is applied. The ship's crushing strength of bow section is obtained by summing the energy dissipated in all individual elements. The theoretical predictions are compared with experimental results for ship's bow models published with experimental results for ship's bow models published in the references, and it is observed that the present prediction method of crushing strength correlates well with the experimental results.

  • 본 연구는 측면 충돌 시 발생하는 상해치를 분석하고 측면 충돌 시 시트윙(seat wing)이 운전자 상해에 미치는 영향을 비교 분석하는데 그 목적이 있으며, 이를 효율적으로 수행하기 위하여 모델(door trim)을 단순화하여 원활한 해석이 가능하도록 해석 모델을 구성하였다. 측면 충돌의 경우 운전석의 에어백과 안전 밸트 사이에서 운전자가 도어에 직접적인 충돌에너지를 받으므로 상해치가 정면충돌에 비해 상당히 높아질 수 있다. 측면 충돌 시 시트윙(seat wing)의 장착 유/무에 따른 차이를 더미 (TNO&JARI)모델을 이용한 Madymo 해석을 통하여 상해치 저감효과를 입증하고자 한다.
