Analysis of Contributory Factors in Causing Crashes at Rural Unsignalized intersections Based on Statistical Modeling (지방부 무신호교차로 교통사고의 영향요인 분석 및 통계적 모형 개발)

  • Traffic accident at intersections takes 44.3% of total number of accidents on entire road network of Korea in 2014. Although several studies addressed contributory factors of accidents at signalized intersection, very few is known about the factors at rural unsignalized intersections. The objective of this study is therefore to investigate specific characteristics of crashes at rural unsignalized intersection and to identify contributory factors in causing crashes by statistical approach using the Ordered Logistic Regression Model. The results show that main type of car crashes at unsignalized intersection during the daytime is T-bone crashes and the number of crashes at 4-legged intersections are 1.53 times more than that at 3-legged intersections. Most collisions are caused by negligence of drivers and violation of Right of Way. Based upon the analysis, accident severity is modeled as classified by two types such as 3-legged intersection and 4-legged intersection. It shows that contributory factors in causing crashes at rural unsignalized intersections are poor sight distance problem, average daily traffic, time of day(night, or day), angle of intersection, ratio of heavy vehicles, number of traffic violations at intersection, and number of lanes on minor street.

  • In distributed virtual environment, system response time to users' interactions is an importance factor to determine the degree of contentment with the system. Generally, response time is affected by the efficiency of event message processing algorithm, and most of previous systems use FCFS algorithm, which processes message traffic sequentially based only on the event occurrence time. Since this method totally depends on the order of occurrence without considering the priorities of events, it has a problem that might drop the degree of system response time by causing to delay processing message traffic when a bottleneck phenomenon happens in the server side. To overcome this limitation of FCFS algorithm, this paper proposes a concurrent event scheduling algorithm, which is able to process event messages concurrently by assigning the priorities to the events. It is also able to satisfy the two goals of system together, consistency and responsiveness through the combination of occurrence time with priority concept of events.

  • It is important to adopt an operation system to operate the Automated warehouses using limited resources such as space, mobile racks, and forklift. The main purpose from the operation system is to reduce the length of moving and time for both mobile racks and forklift. The complexity of the warehouse will be higher because the racks and vehicles are moving at the same time. This complexity influences badly so the operation system has to control it well. Not only layout or receipt or issue, but also conflict between mobile racks and vehicles give more complexity to the warehouse. This paper aims to fine the proper operation method related to the layout and the cargo assignment.

  • A zero-dimensional global model simulator for atmospheric pressure oxygen plasmas has been developed. The simulation model considers the configurations similar to that of plasma needle device. The simulation results show that those species of O, $O_3$, $O_2*$ and ${O_2}^+$ have the highest density in sequence. Electrons dissipate most of their energy through the collisions with oxygen molecules. If the input power increases, the density of most species also increases as much as three-boy collision for the creation of ozone is weakened and hence the density of ozone decreases. The body to volume ratio also affects the plasma density.

A Study on Delayed ACK Scheme for TCP Traffic in Ad-hoc Network (Ad-hoc 네트워크에서 지연 ACK를 이용한 TCP성능 향상에 관한 연구)

  • An ad hoc network is multi-hop network composed of radio links. and the transmission quality of a radio link is more unstable than that of a wired circuit. Packet loss thus occurs frequently in an ad hoc network, and the consequent connection failure results in a severe deterioration of TCP performance. TCP performance also deteriorates because of the collision of data packets and ACK packets in the radio channel. In this paper we study to improve the performance of the Mobile Ad-hoc network by using Delayed ACK algorithm with our proposed ODA(Ordering-Delayed ACK) method. The proposed ODA algorithm increases the number of the data packets orderly at the receiver side which is going to be applied for the Mobile Ad-hoc network. We accomplished a computer simulation using NS-2. From the simulation results, we find the proposed ODA algorithm obviously enlarge the channel capacity and improve the network performance at the situation of multi-hop of ad-hoc network than the existing Delayed ACK algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose ubiWarehouse system which can efficiently manages mass and many kinds of parts such as automotive parts. First, user's work situation is defined systematically as context type of 5W1H, context-aware system is separated on function, and each module operates independently. An efficient route is selected and relevant parts frequently treated at the same time are gathered by calculating the suitability of parts and racks. If other users currently are on a visit or are supposed to visit soon, the hun of visit is changed making a concession for preventing collision. As a result, the proposed system with avoiding competition can provide users with routes for inbound or outbound parts, and can effectively use spaces of a warehouse by arranging racks to gather relevant parts to near location. Also, individual service can be offered by evaluating user propensity using history of the warehouse job, and the accuracy of stock information can be improved by processing of unexpected context and real-time renewing of warehousing and delivering.

  • IIoT, the IoT technology applied to the industrial field, is being used as a monitoring technology for increasing in production rate and safety of workers. However, monitoring through the construction of IIoT network using Ethernet and RS485 in production lines where dozens to hundreds of machine tools are manufacturing components, have difficulties of infrastructure cost and network flexibility and fluidity. Therefore, in this paper, using IEEE 802.15.4 standard WSN device to construct a Ad-Hoc WSN in the production line. In addition, the transmission period and order of the sensor nodes are set by applying the EtherCAT communication method in which the payload frames are shared by all the sensor nodes. From this, we have overcome the problem of reliability decline and real-time issue due to the packet collision of wireless network and confirmed that it is a wireless network routing method that can be used in the actual industrial field.

  • WiMedia UWB technology is a fully distributed data communication technology developed for the application demanding a high data transmission rate in the wireless PAN area. In general, devices can send data either by reserving time slots or by using prioritized CSMA/CA. If the PCA protocol of prioritized CSMA/CA is used, they are suffered congestion as the number of devices increases. In this paper, we propose a Deterministic Access Protocol(DAP) in WiMedia WPANs. A DAP is a method to transmit data in the non-reserved DRP period without competition as each device informs the beacon order information in the beacon period and the queue information. In addition, the problem that the devices with a lower beacon slot number have more transmission opportunities is addressed by introducing the reference point. Simulation results are given to demonstrate that a DAP can improve the throughput and reduce the packet loss rate.

A Standard Time Management Scheme in the Internet of Things (사물인터넷에서 표준 시각 관리 방안)

  • The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of devices embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and connectivity which enables these objects to connect and exchange data without any human intervention. The importance of time information is increased in order to impose order on scattered sensor data streams, resolving conflicts through time stamp information and so on. Time information and time synchronization are critical building blocks in the IoT. They allow devices to share a consistent notion of time and it is easier to build efficient and robust collaborative services. This paper proposes a standard time management scheme in the Internet of Things. Many IoT applications involve collection and forwarding of event data. It is useful to know when an event occurs for the purposes of triggering an action. In order to verify the feasibility of the proposed scheme, it is implemented and evaluated in the Arduino development environment.

Time Series Forecasting on Car Accidents in Korea Using Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average Model (자동 회귀 통합 이동 평균 모델 적용을 통한 한국의 자동차 사고에 대한 시계열 예측)

  • Recently, IITS (intelligent integrated transportation system) has been important topic in Smart City related industry. As a main objective of IITS, prevention of traffic jam (due to car accidents) has been attempted with help of advanced sensor and communication technologies. Studies show that car accident has certain correlation with some factors including characteristics of location, weather, driver's behavior, and time of day. We concentrate our study on observing auto correlativity of car accidents in terms of time of day. In this paper, we performed the ARIMA tests including ADF (augmented Dickey-Fuller) to check the three factors determining auto-regressive, stationarity, and lag order. Summary on forecasting of hourly car crash counts is presented, we show that the traffic accident data obtained in Korea can be applied to ARIMA model and present a result that traffic accidents in Korea have property of being recurrent daily basis.
