Earthquake Response Analysis of a Buried Gas Pipeline (매설가스배관의 지진응답해석)

  • Earthquake time-history analyses have been carried out for a buried gas pipeline of X65 which is of popular use in Korea. Parameters included are shape of a buried gas pipeline, soil characteristics, single and multiple earthquake input ground motions and burial depths. Predicted response of strain and relative displacement are then compared with allowable strain and displacement capacity calculated by Guidelines for the Seismic Design of Buried Gas Pipelines, KOGAS. Comparative studies show that strains are in general affected by the burial depths together with change of soil conditions. Regarding the relative displacement, while axial relative displacement is not influenced by the burial depths, transverse relative displacement is affected by both burial depths as well as soil conditions. In all, the current study is encouraged to give a useful information for healthy earthquake evaluation of a buried pipeline.

Safety Evaluation on Interaction between Track and Bridge in Continuous Welded Railway Bridge Considering Seismic Load (지진하중을 고려한 장대레일교량의 궤도-교량 상호작용에 대한 안전성 평가)

  • To observe the rail-slab interaction in continuous welded railway(CWR) bridge when earthquake occurs, additional axial rail stresses and relative longitudinal displacements between rail and bridge deck were calculated with input of various load combinations and 3 different types of seismic loads to an analytical model. As results of analysis, it can be found that standard response spectrum proposed by Korea Rail(KR) network authority for earthquake design showed less additional axial rail stresses than allowable levels, but greater relative longitudinal displacement between rail and bridge deck, which means that adjustment of relative longitudinal displacement within a standard level is much more difficult than axial train stress. Additionally, if a large-scaled earthquake as occurred at Kobe, Japan comes up, then both of additional axial rail stress and relative displacement in rail-bridge deck may exceed allowable levels, which indicates to make proper design guides against sudden earthquake occurrence.

Flexural Behavior of Large-Diameter Composite PHC pile Using In-Filled Concrete and Reinforcement (속채움 콘크리트와 철근으로 보강된 대구경 합성 PHC말뚝의 휨성능 평가)

  • A demand of high bearing capacity of piles to resist heavy static loads has been increased. For this reason, the utilization of large diameter PHC piles including a range from 700 mm to 1,200 mm have been increased and applied to the construction sites in Korea recently. In this study, in order to increase the flexural strength capacity of the PHC pile, the large diameter composite PHC pile reinforced by in-filled concrete and reinforcement was developed and manufactured. All the specimens were tested under four-point bending setup and displacement control. From the strain behavior of transverse bar, it was found that the presence of transverse bar was effective against crack propagation and controlling crack width as well as prevented the web shear cracks. The flexural strength and mid-span deflection of LICPT specimens were increased by a maximum of 1.08 times and 1.19 times compared to the LICP specimens. This results indicated that the installed transverse bar is in an advantageous ductility performance of the PHC piles. A conventional layered sectional analysis for the pile specimens was performed to investigate the flexural strength according to the each used material. The calculated bending moment of conventional PHC pile and composite PHC pile, which was determined by P-M interaction curve, showed a safety factor 1.13 and 1.16 compared to the test results.

Comparative Analysis of Fault Prediction with Horizontal and Longitudinal Displacements on Tunnel (터널 굴진면 수평변위와 천단변위를 이용한 단층대 예측방법의 비교·분석)

  • A three-dimensional finite element analysis was conducted to analyze the predictable distances of a fault zone by using longitudinal displacement on tunnel face, trend line, L/C ratio, and C/C0 ratio at tunnel crown. The analysis used 28 numerical models with various fault attitudes. As a result, those faults that have drives with dip could be predicted earliest in L/C and C/C0 ratio analysis. And those faults that have drives against dip could be predicted earliest in L/C ratio and longitudinal displacement analysis. In addition, the fault zone ahead of tunnel was predicted in most models by using longitudinal displacement, trend line, L/C ratio, and C/C0 ratio. However, the longitudinal displacement among these methods may be most usefully predict a fault zone since it is displacements can be measured immediately after tunnel excavation.

Prediction of Change in Ground Condition Ahead of Tunnel Face Using Three-dimensional Convergence Analysis (터널 3차원 내공변위의 해석을 통한 막장전방 지반상태변화 예측)

  • The purpose of this study is to present an analysis method for the prediction of the change of ground conditions. To this end, three-dimensional convergence displacements is analyzed in several ways to estimate the trend of displacement change. Three-dimensional arching effect is occurred around the unsupported excavation surface including tunnel face when a tunnel is excavated in a stable rock mass. If the ground condition ahead of tunnel face changes or a weak fracture zone exists a specific trend of displacement change is known to be occurred from the results of the existing researches. The existence of a discontinuity, whose change in front of the tunnel face, can be predicted from the ratio of L/C (longitudinal displacement at crown divided by settlement at crown) etc. Therefore, the change of ground condition and the existence of a fracture zone ahead of tunnel face can be predicted by monitoring three-dimensional absolute displacements during excavation, and applying the methodology presented in this study.

  • An assembly package program is developed for a computerize4 operation of a drilling machine system utilizing a microprocessor. Different drilling instruction requires merely the input of different sets of input data. To make pulse motors to follow their input pulse trains with fidelity, an optimum start-stop rate matrix is proposed, whose elements are determined according to the pulse motor torque and the load inertia of the mechanical system composed of a workpiece and a worktable.

  • The vibration of an axially moving string is studied when the string has geometric non-linearity and translating acceleration. Based upon the von karman strain theory, The equation for the longitudinal vibration is linear and uncoupled, while the equation for the transverse vibration is non-linear and coupled between the longitudinal and transverse deflections. The governing equations are discretized by using the Galerkin approximation. With the discretized nonlinear equations, the time responses are investigated by using the generalized-${\alpha}$ method.

Case History Evaluation of Axial Behavior of Micropiles (소구경말뚝의 축방향 거동에 대한 사례 연구)

  • This paper examines the results of full-scale field tests on micropiles and side resistance is evaluated with respect to axial displacements and soil properties. Both cohesive and cohesionless soils are included in this evaluation. For all practical purposes, the developed load-displacement relationship and the geotechnical soil properties for each micropile and soil type can be used to represent the available data well through normalized average values and empirical correlations. There is a significant difference in load-carrying capacity between micropiles and drilled shafts that results primarily from the micropile pressure-grouting installation effects on the state of stress in the ground. The results show that micropiles can have a significant increase of capacity over larger-diameter drilled shafts at shallower depths with D/B < 100 or so. In cohesive soils, the typical increase is on the order of 1.5 with values as high as 2.5. For cohesionless soils, the typical increases are in the range of 1.5 to 2.5 with values as high as 6.

Forces and Displacements of Outrigger-Braced Structures with a Pair of Coupled Cores (병렬코아를 갖는 아웃리거구조물의 응력과 변위)

  • Based on the continuum approach, an investigation is made to get the forces and displacements of laterally loaded outrigger braced structures with a pair of coupled cores, and to show the effect of stiffening outriggers on the behavior of the structure. From the condition that the rotation of the core at the outrigger level is matched with the rotation of the corresponding outrigger, the outrigger restraining moment is derived analytically. From this, the core moment diagram, the column axial forces, and the horizontal displacements of the structure may be determined. Comparisons with the results by the program MIDAS-GEN for the structural models, have shown that this analysis can give reasonably accurate results for outrigger-braced structures with a pair of coupled cores. And a lateral displacement at the top of the structure is influenced by the outrigger location than the core location. Although the formulae are accurate only for idealized outrigger braced structures, they have a useful practical purpose in providing a guide to the behavior, and for making approximate estimates of the forces and displacements, in practical outrigger braced structures with a pair of coupled cores.

교류형 플라즈마 방전 표시기 방전유지 전압의 전압 상승 시간의 변화에 따른 방전 현상의 변화

  • 교류형 플라즈마 방전 표시기(AC Plasma Display Panel, AC PDP)의 구동에서의 방전 현상은 기입방전, 유지방전, 소거 방전이 있다. 이중 유지 방전은 표시장치로서의 휘도와 계조의 표현을 위한 방전으로 표시기로서의 효율을 결정하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 유지 방전 전압의 상승 시간의 변화에 따른 방전현상과 휘도, 효율의 변화를 살펴 보았다. 방전 현상에서의 가장 큰 변화는 교류형 플라즈마 방전 표시기의 방전 개시 전압과 방전 유지 전압의 변화이다. 유지 전압의 상승시간이 증가할수록 방전 개시 전압과 방전 유지 전압의 변화이다. 유지 전압의 상승 시간이 증가할수록 방전 개시 전압과 방전 유지 전압의 차(sustain margin)는 감소하여 상승 시간이 1$\mu$s/100V 이상의 영역에서는 방전 개시 전압과 방전 유지 전압이 차이가 없어지게 된다. 이는 방전 유지 전극 위의 유전체에 쌓이게 되는 벽전하(wall charge) 양의 감소에 의한 방전 약화의 영향을 보여질 수 있다. 그러나 방전 유지 전압의 형태와 전류의 시간적인 변화를 살펴보면 이러한 약한 방전은 벽전하의 감소에 의한 방전 시의 전계 감소보다는 방전 전류의 발생 시간이 방전 전압이 증가하여 최고점에 이르지 못한 시간에 위치하여 방전이 형성될 때의 전계가 강하지 못하기 때문인 것을 알 수 있다. 방전 전류를 측정한 결과에 의하면 방전 전류의 시작은 변위 전류가 흐르고 난 후부터 시작되며 그 결과 방전 전류가 최고점에 도달하는 시간은 방전 전압 상승 시간이 길어질수록 낮은 전압에서 형성되게 된다. 또한 방전 유지 전압의 상승 시간이 길어질수록 플라즈마 방전표시기의 휘도와 효율은 낮아지고 이 결과 또한 약한 전계에서의 방전에 의한 결과로 생각되어진다.플라즈마의 강도값을 입력하여 플라즈마의 radiation을 검출하고, 스퍼터링 공정중 실질적인 in-situ 정보로 이용하였다. PEM을 통하여 In/Sn의 플라즈마 강도변화를 조사하였다. 초기 In/Sn의 플라즈마 강도(intensity)는 강도를 100하여, 산소를 주입한 결과, plasma intensity가 35 줄어들었고, 이때 우수한 ITO 박막을 얻을 수 있었다. Pulsed DC power를 사용하여 아크 현상을 방지하였다. PET 상에 coating 된 ITO 박막의 표면저항과 광투과도는 4-point prove와 spectrophotometer를 이용하여 분석하였고, AES로 박막의 두께에 따른 성분비를 확인하였다. ITO 박막의 광투과도는 산소의 유량과 sputter 된 In/Sn ion의 plasma emission peak에 따라 72%-92%까지 변화하였으며, 저항은 37$\Omega$/$\square$ 이상을 나타내었다. 박막의 Sn/In atomic ratio는 0.12, O/In의 비율은 In2O3의 화학양론적 비율인 1.5보다 작은 1.3을 나타내었다.로 보인다.하면 수평축과 수직축의 분산 장벽의 비에 따라 cluster의 두께비가 달라지는 성장을 볼 수 있었고, 한 축 방향으로의 팔 넓이는 fcc(100) 표면의 경우 동일한 Ed+Ep값에 대응하는 팔 넓이와 거의 동일한 결과가 나타나는 것을 볼 수 있다. 따라서 이러한 비대칭적인 모양을 가지는 성장의 경우도 cluster 밀도, cluster 모양, cluster의 양 축 방향 길이 비, 양 축 방향의 평균 팔 넓이로부터 각 축 방향의 분산 장벽을 얻어낼 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 기대할 수 있는 여러 장점들을 보고하고자 한다.성이 우수한 시
