Chemical characteristics of Compound middle lamella lignin (복합 세포간층 Lignin의 화학적 성상)

  • The chemical characteristics of lignin in the differentiating xylem were investigated and compared with those of mature-wood. The compound middle lamella lignin deposited in the early stage of lignification of cell walls in the softwood(Larch) as well as the hardwood(Birch) was confirmed to be the so-called guaiacyl-type lignin and was found to have a relatively larger content of phenoxy hydroxyl group as terminal units and to be more abundant in condensed-type structures like as phenylcoumaran structures compared with mature-wood lingin.

  • Novolac is widely used as the primary solid component of most photoresists in semiconductor and microelectronic devices. In this study, novolac resins were prepared by condensation of 35% formaldehyde with phenolic compounds such as m-/p-cresol, 2,5-dimethylphenol and bisphenol A in the presence of oxalic acid as catalyst. The average molecular weight $(M_w)$ of these novolac resins has been varied on the changing of mixing ratio of m-/p-cresol/2,5-dimethylphenol/bisphenol A or formaldehyde/phenolic compound. Also, thermal properties of novolac were observed by TGA.

  • Two-component polyurethane (PU) flame-retardant coatings were prepared by blending tribromo modified polyesters ($TBAO_s$) and isocyanate.$TBAO_s$ were synthesized by condensation polymerization of tribromoacetic acid, a flame-retardant component, with 1,4-butanediol, adipic acid, and trimethylolpropane. The content of tribromoacetic acid was varied by 10, 20, and 30 wt% for the reaction. Various physical properties of these new flame-retardant coatings were comparable to nonflame-retardant coatings. Coatings with 20 wt% tribromoacetic acid did not burn during the vertical burning test.

  • In this paper, we present the global minimization condition by an informal analysis of the Langevine competitive learning neural network. From the viewpoint of the stochastic process, it is important that competitive learning guarantees an optimal solution for pattern recognition. By analysis of the Fokker-Plank equation for the proposed neural network, we show that if an energy function has a special pseudo-convexity, Langevine competitive learning can find the global minima. Experimental results for pattern recognition of handwritten numeral data indicate the superiority of the proposed algorithm.

  • As a part of synthetic programs aimed at Dolastatin 10 analogues, synthetic pathway toward various peptides were investigated. 4-Amino-3-hydr> Transfer interrupted!nalogues were prepared by ring opening of epoxides with ammonia in MeOH. Several peptides were prepared starting from these unusual amino acids through using mainly DCC coupling.

  • A simple and high yielding one-pot method for synthesis of 2,4,5-triarylimidazoles from condensation of benzoin or benzil, ammonium acetate and aromatic aldehydes using sulphanilic acid catalyst is described. The lower priced catalyst, higher yields and shorter reaction time are the advantages of the presented method.

  • Complexes of uranyl ion $UO^{+2}_2$with Schiff-bases obtained by condensing glycylglycine with salicylaldehyde; 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde, 2,3-dihydroxybenzaldehyde, and 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde have been synthesized and characterized through elemental analysis, conductivity measurements, magnetic susceptibility determinations, u.v., i.r. and $^1H$ nmr spectra as well as d.t.a., t.g. and d.s.c. techniques. Structures and mechanisms of thermal decomposition are proposed.

Studies on the Food Additives. Effects of Condensates of Phosphates on the Preservative Activity of the Food Preservatives (식품첨가물에 관한 연구. 축합인산염이 식품보존료의 작용에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of condensates of phosphates on the preservative activity of the food additives, using eight micro-organisms, has been studied by the agar dilution method. It was found that condensates of phosphates increased the food preserving action of almost all of preservatives and they acted as a synergist for the action of almost all of preservatives. Disodium dihydrogen prrophosphate acted as the strongest synergist in the experiment. But sodium tripolyphosphate anhydrous, sodium poly-phosphate, sodium tripolyphosphate and sodium hexametaphosphate acted as a inhibitor for action of some preservatives on some orgnisms. The preservatives were sodium dehydroacetate (DHA), potassium sorbate and NaNO$_{2}$ etc. The action of sodium meta-phosphate on the preservatives produced a mean difference by their origins. It was supposed that such a difference was produced by the difference of amount of impurities that were contained in sodium metaphosphate, It was also supposed that the does of the preservatives could be reduced by addition of condensates of phosphates, acting as a synergist for the action of almost all of the preservatives.

  • This study was made to investigate the effect of silk fabrics treated with mimosa and tannic acid-weighting effect, surface color according to temprature, treatment time, concentration, pH. The results were as follows ; 1. The wavelength of maximum absorption of mimosa and tannic acid solution appeared at 278.5nm and 275.0nm, respectively. By the irradiation, spectra at wavelength of maximum absorption of mimosa solution disappeared, but those of tannic acid solution decreased after 48hr irradiation. 2. The tannin weighting increased with the increase of concentration, treatment temperature at 8$0^{\circ}C$, acidic condition. In case of tannic acid, it was higher than mimosa. 3. Surface color of silk fabric with mimosa changed from 2.8YR to 5.8YR acc-ording to the increase o( tannin concentration but in case of tannic acid itchanged from 4.2Y to 3.9Y. It was more changed acidic or alkaline conditionthan origine solution.

  • Synthesizing octylphosphate(OTP) from phosphorus pentoxide with n-octyl alcohol, octylphosphatethiourea(OTPU) was prepared from OTP with thiourea. After flame retardant finishing OTPU to acrylic fabrics, nylon taffeta and tetron taffeta, the physical properties, such as tear strength and flame retardancy were measured. As the results of the measurement, OTPU was found to be a good flame retardant having softness using to synthetic fibers.
