Tooth Profile Analysis for Face Gear with 1:2 Gear Ratio in Handpiece with 160° Contra Angle (160도 Contra angle을 갖는 소형 핸드피스용 1:2증속기어의 치형 해석)

  • This paper presents a design procedure for a face gear and pinion used in a handpiece with a $160^{\circ}\acute{y}$ contra angle and 1:2 gear ratio. Based on the geometric theory of gearing, the tooth profile of the face gear and pinion is developed. To analyze the contact pressure, the gear profile should be determined before calculating the stress between the two gears. The concept of calculating the face gear profile is that it can be generated by the coordinate transformation of the shaper profiles, which have involute curves, using a simulation method from the gear manufacturing process.

  • This article summarizes the results of sea transportation load measurements, which will be used as the reference to the sea transportation environment condition for the launch vehicle of KSLV-I. KSLV-I will be transported by Sea from Pusan to the NARO space center in Gohung, Chunnam province. Since the vibration load condition during sea transportation is considered as one of the important design parameters of KSLV-I and its transportation means, it is necessary to directly measure the environmental condition of sea transportation loads prior to establish the sea transportation plan in detail. This material includes the measured data of 3-axis linear accelerations and 3-axis angular rates on the board of a barge-ship, which is towed by a tug boat during shipping operation. This barge-ship is same class with one which will actually carry KSLV-I. The results show that the measured load condition during sea transportation is not severer than the reference data of MIL-STD-810F and Zenit-3SL launch system.

  • The leading surgical method for correcting the misalignment of the varus and valgus in the knee joint is the high tibial osteotomy (HTO). In the opening wedge HTO (OWHTO), there is no concern about damaging the peroneal nerve on the lateral tibia of the proximal fibula. OWHTO has been the preferred choice, as the opening of the correction angle can be modulated during the operation. The correction of the varus and valgus on the coronal plane are performed adroitly. Nevertheless, there have been numerous reports of unintended changes in the medial tibial plateau and posterior slope angle (PSA). The authors have developed an HTO method using computer-assisted surgery with the aim of addressing the abovementioned problems from an engineer's perspective. CT images of the high tibia were reconstructed three-dimensionally, and a virtual osteotomy was performed on a computer. In addition, this study recommends a surgical method that does not cause changes in the PSA after OWHTO. The results of the study are expected to suggest a clear relationship between the anteromedial cortex oblique angle of each patient and the PSA, and an optimal PSA selection method for individuals.
