Comparison of Anti-Oxidative Activities of Perilla frutescens Extracts by Extraction Methods (추출 방법에 따른 자소엽 추출물의 항산화 효과 비교)

  • Perilla frutescens (P. frutescens) is one of evergreen shrubs belonging to the Labiatae and is grown wildly in Korea. This study was carried out to evaluate the anti-oxidative effects of Perilla frutescens Extracts by Extraction Methods (water, heating and sonication). Anti-oxidative effects were measured using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity and total phenol content. Cell viability and hepatoprotective effects were identified by 3-[4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Among various extracts, P. rutescens extracts by sonication showed the highest DPPH radical scavenging activity at $5000{\mu}g/mL$. Total phenolic content in P. frutescens extracts by sonication was $51.60{\pm}1.06mg\;GAE/g$ extract. However, P. frutescens extracts did not show hepatoprotective effects. This study identified anti-oxidative effects of P. frutescens extracts by sonication, and it would be necessary to perform further studies of P. frutescens extracts by sonication.

  • 일반적으로 운송 컨테이너의 식별자들은 크기나 위치가 정형화되어 있지 않고 외부 환경으로 인한 식별자의 형태가 훼손되어 있기 때문에 일정한 규칙으로는 찾기 힘들다. 본 논문에서는 컨테이너 영상에 대해 ART2 알고리즘을 적용하여 컨테이너 영상을 양자화한다. 제안된 ART2 알고리즘 기반 양자화 기법은 컬러정보를 클러스터링 한 후, 각 클러스터의 중심 패턴을 이용하여 원 영상의 컬러정보를 분류한다. 양자화된 컨테이너 영상에서 8 방향 윤곽선 추적 알고리즘을 적용하여 개별 식별자를 추출한다. 추출된 개별 식별자는 ART2 기반 RBF 네트워크를 개선하여 인식에 적용한다. 실제 컨테이너 영상 300장에 대해 실험한 결과, 제안한 컨테이너 식별자 인식 방법의 추출 및 인식 성능이 기존의 컨테이너 식별자 인식 방법 보다 개선된 것을 확인하였다.

  • This paper proposes an algorithm to classify and analyze facial features such as eyebrow, eye, mouth and chin based on the geometric features of the face. As a preprocessing process to classify and analyze the facial features, the algorithm extracts the facial features such as eyebrow, eye, nose, mouth and chin. From the extracted facial features, it detects the shape and form information and the ratio of distance between the features and formulated them to evaluation functions to classify 12 eyebrows types, 3 eyes types, 9 mouth types and 4 chine types. Using these facial features, it analyzes a face. The face analysis algorithm contains the information about pixel distribution and gradient of each feature. In other words, the algorithm analyzes a face by comparing such information about the features.

Antioxidative and Antimutagenic Activity of Ethanol Extracts from Cuscutae Semen (토사자(Cuscutae Semen) 에탄올 추출물의 항산화 효과 및 항돌연변이 활성)

  • In this study, the antioxidant and antimutagenic activities of Cuscutae semen ethanol extract were evaluated. Antioxidant activity was measured by the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method and the Ames test was employed to determine the inhibition effect on mutagenicity in Salmonella typhimurium TA100. The extract showed significant free radical-scavenging activity towards the DPPH radical, and at a concentration of 400 ppm, its free radical-scavenging activity was similar to that of BHT. The $IC_{50}$ value of the extract was 89 ppm, indicating good antioxidant capacity. Moreover, at 5 mg/mL, the extract presented inhibitions of approximately 98.0% and 49.2% on mutagenicity induced by 4-nitroquinoline 1-oxide and sodium azide, respectively. The total polyphenols and flavonoid contents of the extract were 20.1 mg/g and 1.9 mg/g, respectively. Therefore, this study indicates that the ethanolic extract of Cuscutae semen has excellent antioxidative and antimutagenic potential.

Antimelanogenic effect and whitening of crude polysaccharide fraction extracted from Perilla frutescens Britton var. acuta Kudo (자소엽(Perilla frutescens Britton var. acuta Kudo) 조다당의 멜라닌 생성 저해 및 미백효과)

  • In this study, the inhibitory effects of crude polysaccharide fractions separated from Perilla frutescens Britton var. acuta Kudo (PCP) on melanin synthesis and tyrosinase activity were observed. B16F10 melanoma cells were treated with 125 and $250{\mu}g/mL$ of PCP for 24 hours. Using these optimal concentrations, inhibition of melanin synthesis inhibition was measured, and PCP treatment significantly reduced melanin synthesis induced by 3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine (IBMX). In addition, western blotting analysis on B16F10 melanoma cells showed that PCP inhibited tyrosinase, microphthalmia-associated transcriptipn factor, tyrosinase related protein-1, and tyrosinase related protein-2 expression. Therefore, these results indicate that PCP may have potential inhibitory activity against melanin synthesis and may be a natural ingredient useful for the development of whitening materials in cosmetics and functional foods.

  • 본 논문에서는 ART-1 기반 자가 생성 지도학습 알고리즘과 얼굴 인증을 이용한 주민등록증 인식방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 주민등록증 영상에서 주민등록번호와 발행일을 추출하기 위해, 획득된 주민등록증의 영상에서 Sobel Mask와 Median Filter를 이용하여 윤곽선을 추출하고 잡음을 제거한 후, 수평 스미어링을 적용하여 주민등록번호와 발행일 영역을 각각 추출한다. 그리고 고주파 필터링을 적용하여 추출된 영역을 이진화하고 4방향 윤곽선 추적 알고리즘을 적용하여 개별 코드를 추출한다. 추출된 개별 코드는 ART-1 기반 자가 생성 지도학습 알고리즘을 적용하여 인식한다. 얼굴 인증은 Template Matching 방법을 적용하여 Face Template Database를 구축하고, 획득된 주민등록증의 얼굴 영역과의 유사도를 측정하여 주민등록증의 사진 위조 여부를 판별한다. 제안된 주민등록증 인식 방법의 성능을 평가하기 위해 10개의 주민등록증을 대상으로 실험하였고 원본 주민등록증 영상에서 사진과 얼굴 부분을 위조한 주민등록증에 대해 얼굴 인증 실험을 하였다. 실험을 통해 제안된 방법이 주민등록번호 인식 및 얼굴 인증에 있어서 우수한 성능이 있음을 확인하였다.

Cytotoxicity of Ethanol Extract of Cephaxus koreana on Human Breast Cancer Cell Lines (유방암 세포주를 애용한 개비자 나무의 에탄올 추출물의 항암 활성 분석)

  • This study was designed to investigate the cytotoxic effect of Cephaxus koreana on human breast cancer cell lines (SCC-1395 and SK-BR-3) us ins MTT(3- [4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) assay. RPMII -1640 medium with $10\%$ FBS and $1\%$ of penicillin-streptomycin was used. The ethanol extrart of Cephaxus koreana after adsoption resin treatment showed higher anticancer activity against SCC- 1395 than the ethanol extract of Cephaxus koreana without adsoption resin treatment. SK-BR-3 showed higher sensitivity activity than SCC-1395 at the same concentration of 20000 ppm.

  • 전문가 시스템의 지식베이스 구축에 필요한 규칙추출에 관련되는 지식공학자의 인력 부족자 전문분야에 적합한 지식공학자 확보에 따른 비용 증가, 지식공학자 수행 프로세스의 비 정형화로 인하여 특정한 전문가 시스템의 개발 때마다 관련된 지식획득 과정의 어려움 발생, 전문가 시스템의 지식베이스 특성이 고려되지 않은 개발 과정 수행에 따른 비현실적인 지식베이스 구축 등의 현존 문제점은 효율적인 전문가 시스템 개발의 장애 요인이 되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 전문가 시스템 개발에 있어서 체계적인 규칙추출을 위하여 지식베이스 구축에 관한 분석단계까지를 5개 단계로 세분화하여 지식획득과정을 강화하였고, 각 단계별로 지식공학자가 수행해야 하는 프로세스와 각 프로세스별로 지식공학자가 실질적인 작업을 통해 결과를 산출하는 태스크를 정형화하였다. 규칙추출 프로세스/태스크를 체계적으로 정형화하는 것은 성공적인 전문가 시스템의 개발에 도움을 줄 것이며, 개발자가 지식공학자의 역할을 대행할 수 있으므로 지식공학자의 확보 문제를 해결할 수 있다. 또한, 전문가 시스템의 적용 분야에 대한 확대 효과가 기대된다.

Antimicrobial Activity of Streptococcus mutans by Herbal Medicine Extracts (한약재 추출물의 Streptococcus mutans에 대한 항균효과)

  • This study was to investigate the antibacterial effect of 63 species herbal medicine extracts on S. mutans growth by paper disc method and then examined the effects of S. mutans growth by some selected herbal medicines. Antibacterial effect of 63 species medicinal herb extracts on S. mutans was superior to Lycopi herba, Scutellariae radix in regular order and antibacterial activity(20 mg/ml concentration) through paper disc method were measured 6.3 mm and 3.5 mm, respectively. The growth of S. mutans in control medium was the highest at 8hrs, while that of medicinal herbs extract added-medium(2 mg/ml) was at 16 hrs. The pH values of the control media and media supplemented with Lycopi herba and Scutellariae radix extract were 5.08, 5.80, and 5.74 at 8 hrs, respectively. In the change of total carbohydrate of the control media and supplemented with Lycopi herba and Scutellariae radix extract were 0.81 mg/ml, 1.70 mg/ml and 1.84 mg/ml at 8 hrs, respectively. In the change of proteins of the control media and supplemented with Lycopi herba and Scutellariae radix extract were 8.39 mg/ml, 9.52 mg/ml and 9.28 mg/ml at 8 hrs, respectively. The polysaccharide contents of the control media and supplemented with Lycopi herba and Scutellariae radix extract were 300 mg/100 ml, 200 mg/100 ml and 220 mg/100 ml at 8hrs, respectively.

Quantitative Extraction Analysis of Brominated Flame Retardant Substances Using Supercritical-Fluid Method for Environmental Assessment (초임계추출법을 이용한 브롬계 난연제 화합물 환경성 평가 추출효율 분석 연구)

  • For the evaluation of brominated flame retardants included in polymeric electronic devices, we investigated the extraction methods and solvent systems for four different types of polymers of PC (polycarbonate), PP (polyropylene), PET (poly(ethylene terephthalate)) and PBT (poly(butylene terephthalate)) using different solvent systems of hexane/acetone, THF, toluene, and THF/toluene. In order to compare the extraction efficiency of different methods and solvent systems, the deca-BDE (decabromo diphenyl ether) flame retardant was included in PC, PP, PET and PBT systems and subsequently extracted by soxhlet, ultrasonic, accelerated solvent, microwave and supercritical fluid extraction methods. The amount of the extracted flame retardant was monitored to evaluate the extraction efficiency. The ultrasonic extraction method was found not to be acceptable as an extraction method for the polymer systems mainly due to a low salvation efficiency of the organic solvents. Soxhlet, accelerated solvent and microwave extraction methods exhibited over 80% of extraction efficiency for toluene. The supercritical fluid extraction method, which has been used as an extraction method for flame retardants in polymers, showed the extraction efficiencies of ca. 100% for PC and PP in the optimal extraction conditions of $60^{\circ}C$ and 120 bar.
