This study is a research development case study on the free-standing Network based camera video recording DVR. The DVR devices till now have recorded data by converting and compressing analogue video to digital, but in the future, digital videos will be recorded directly through the network camera. Also, digital compressing methods are progressing from MPEG-4, MJPEG, to H.264 method, with products considering high definition compression efficiency, minimized data size, network compatibility, and fast pending time. According to this, in 2012, it is predicted that network camera and video devices throughout the world will outrun the current analogue devices. With this transition of technological environment and fast product pending speed, a new, quality focused design is required for product development including technical realization, reliability, high-definition, compression technology, will be essential. Manufacturers are researching a new direction for the product appearance. This study considers the actual end-users as the design target and through consumer survey on preferences, design needs and required elements necessary in the design development process are extracted. Furthermore, usability and preferred images were explored through literature study and market research. Through this research process, appropriate forms for the network based DVR were analyzed, and applied into the design development process. This product will take into consideration its competitiveness and the significance of USP(Unique Selling Proposition) which is the design supremacy and professional technical skills.
In this paper, we suggest a novel physics-based real-time animation technique for vehicles, and introduce an easy and intuitive animation authoring tool which uses our proposed technique. After a user specifies a trajectory of a virtual car as input, our system produces a more accurate simulation faster than a previous research result. This is achieved by a trajectory splitting method based on directional features and a trajectory library. As a result, the user can create not only a car animation including lane changing and passing, but also a crash animation which is a rarely researched topic. Also, we propose a virtual car structure that approximates a real car's structure for real-time simulation, the resulting animation shows high plausibility such as a small vibration which occurs when the virtual car breaks and a deformation of when a car accident happens.
The conventional lane changing model has been developed without acceleration or deceleration of vehicles at target lane. Thus, existing lane changing models have limitation to apply in real world. In this paper, lane changing model considered acceleration or deceleration, and calculated the safety distance between subject vehicle and adjacent vehicles for lane changing as well. Simulation was conducted to verify the validity and the efficiency of the developed lane changing model in this paper. Several scenarios were carefully examined by safety distance between subject vehicle and adjacent vehicles. In the result, it was verified that if gap between subject vehicle and adjacent vehicles is larger than safety distance, lane changing behavior between subject vehicle and adjacent vehicles avoids collision. The suggested lane changing model may be applied at the future driver assistance system and advanced safety vehicle.

The study on the penetration of sprays during the initial phase of injection period, i.e. ignition delay period, in high speed small D.I. diesel engines are strongly affected by such behavior. To investigate the penetration of the sprays injected through single cylinderical orifice, a mathematical model was developed and compared with experimental results. In this model, radial heterogeneity of fuel density in the spray, transiency of injection pressure difference, and spray outrunning phenomenon were considered simultaneously. Experiments on the behaviors of sprays in the high pressure air chamber were conducted at various injection pressure differences and different levels of back air pressure. The behaviors of sprays injected into the chamber through the conventional Bosch injection pump were visualized with side stroboscopic illumination. Comparison of the experimental results with predictions from the mathematical model confirmed the validity of the model. It was also found that during the initial phase of the injection period the penetration of sprays vs. time appeared to have two transition points; one corresponded to disintegration point of liquid fuel jet, the other to the beginning of steady state injection.
This study started from the problem recognition of climbing lane installed in Korea roads. Because design standards of climbing lane installed don't match traffic pattern of korean drivers, coefficient of utilization of climbing lane is low and merging section between climbing lane and main lane has traffic accident possibilities. For this, brand-new design standards developed from the present lane design criterion, taper lenghs, and traffic signs, then field adoption test was carried out to prove the effectiveness. As a result, coefficient of utilization of climbing lane and average traffic velocity in climbing section are improved and the economic analysis also shows that brand-new standards has high feasibility for low cost. In case of broad application to not only expressway but national and local road based on the study, it could be a significant contribution to traffic flow improvement.

PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to develop a methodology to estimate the minimum required separation distance (MRSD) between a vehicle and a bicycle when overtaking. METHODS : Three steps have been conducted to develop a methodology to estimate MSRD. First, a literature review has been conducted on the measurement of MSRD, and how it may be applied in Korea. Second, two assumptions have been made to develop a methodology to estimate the MSRD. The first assumption is that the maximum separation distance between a vehicle and a bicycle can be observed when they are at the same location longitudinally. In addition, it is assumed that the separation distance is invalid when the contra-flow exists. Finally, three cameras were installed at a height of 10 m to record the vehicle-bicycle interaction. Moreover, the vehicle trajectories as well as the separation distance were coded and analyzed. Through the hypothesis test and the interval estimation, the sample mean was tested and the confidence interval was estimated. RESULTS : 141 records of separation distance data were collected, and the hypothesis test demonstrated that the MSRD in Korea is significantly higher than other countries. In addition, the confidence interval of the population mean of MSRD is from 1.51 m to 1.65 m with 95% level of confidence. CONCLUSIONS : It is expected that the proposed methodology to estimate MSRD would be beneficial in studying road safety of vehicles and bicycles. Also, the proposed MSRD is expected to be designated in the act of road and transportation.

In the railway, the delay of a train may affect the schedule of other trains. Hence, the timetable management activity involving overtaking and transferring becomes an important issue. The timetable rescheduling is the conflict resolution of the disrupted schedule and a matter of deciding the sequence of moves among trains and the place for meeting. In Korea, there are few cases where operations research models were applied to railway timetable rescheduling problem in consideration of the transfer between Korea Train eXpress (KTX) trains and conventional trains. Hence, we present a mathematical approach that can minimize the total delay of the whole trains secondly. We applied the model to the exemplary section of a double-line track, the Gyung-Boo Line, and it is confirmed that the mathematical model could effectively address the transfer service as well as the complicated railway conflicts of Gyung-Boo Line.
The increase of world's population and economic development are the keys drivers behind growing demand for energy. Especially the demand for electricity would eventually result in an increase of coal usage. Therefore ultra supercritical circulating fluidized bed boiler has been developed as solutions of economic eco-friendly technologies for coal and of increasing supplies of low grade fuels. Ultra supercritical circulating fluidized bed boiler has an once through type of steam cycle different from drum type in subcritical circulating fluidized bed boiler. Also, the duplication of a proven commercial module with 100-300 MWe subcritical circulating fluidized bed might be the key for design of 500~800 MWe ultra supercritical circulating fluidized bed boiler. After 2017, ultra supercritical circulating fluidized bed boiler might become standard model over subcritical circulating fluidized bed boiler. Therefore, this paper will help you to understand ultra super critical circulating fluidized bed (USC-CFB) through describing the background, status and prospect of the CFB technology.
The trailers with electronically controlled diesel engine was converted to dual fuel engine system. To estimate economical efficiency, test vehicles have been operated on a certain driving route repeatedly. Fuel economy, mximum driving distance per refueling and driveability are examined on the road including a free way. Developed vehicle can be operated over 500 km with dual Hel and shows 85% of diesel substitution ratio. Driveability is similar with but passing acceleration. It will be improved by calibration process. Test engine was set up for investigating power output, thermal efficiency and emission. ND 13-mode tests were performed for the test cycle. The emission result of dual fuel meets K2006 regulation and the engine performance of dual fuel engine was equivalent to the performance of diesel engine.
The back-propagation neural network (BPN) has long been successfully applied in bankruptcy prediction problems. Despite its wide application, some major issues must be considered before its use, such as the network topology, learning parameters and normalization methods for the input and output vectors. Previous studies on bankruptcy prediction with BPN have shown that many researchers are interested in how to optimize the network topology and learning parameters to improve the prediction performance. In many cases, however, the benefits of data normalization are often overlooked. In this study, a genetic algorithm (GA)-based normalization transform, which is defined as a linearly weighted combination of several different normalization transforms, will be proposed. GA is used to extract the optimal weight for the generalization. From the results of an experiment, the proposed method was evaluated and compared with other methods to demonstrate the advantage of the proposed method.
