Study on EPB TBM performance by conducting lab-scaled excavation tests with different foam injection for artificial sand (실내 굴진 시험을 통한 폼 주입 조건에 따른 인공 사질토 지반에서 EPB TBM 굴진성능에 대한 고찰)

  • During EPB TBM tunnelling, an appropriate application of additives such as foam and polymer is an essential factor to secure the stability of TBM as well as tunnelling performance. From the '90s, there have been many studies on the optimal injection of additives worldwidely contrary to the domestic situation. Therefore, in this paper, the foam, which is widely adopted for soil conditioning, was selected as an additive in order to investigate the effect of foam injection on TBM performance through a series of laboratory excavation tests. The excavation experiments were carried out on artificial sandy soil specimens with consideration of the variance of FIR (Foam Injection Ratio), FER (Foam Expansion Ratio) and $C_f$ (Surfactant Concentration), which indicate the amount and quality of the foam. During the tests, torque values were measured, and the workability of conditioned soil was evaluated by comparing the slump values of muck after each experiment. In addition, a weight loss of the replaceable aluminum cutter bits installed on the blade was measured to estimate the degree of abrasion. Finally, the foam injection ratio for the optimal TBM excavation for the typical soil specimen was determined by comparing the measured torque, slump value and abrasion. Note that the foam injection conditions satisfying the appropriate level of machine load, mechanical wear and workability are essential in the EPB TBM operational design.

Effect of Guidance Information Receiving Ratio on Driver's Route Choice Behavior and Learming Process (교통정보 수신율 변화에 따른 운전자의 경로선택과 학습과정)

  • The driver's decision making (e.g. route choice) is a typical decision making with an uncertainty. In this paper, we investigate the effect of route guidance information on driver's route choice and learning behavior and analyse the potential of information system in a road network in which traffic flows follow random walk. A Simulation performed focuses on the relationship among the network wide performance, message receiving rates and driver's learning mechanism. We know that at high levels of message receiving rates, the network-wide performance may get worse. However, at low levels of receiving rates, we found that the travel time when guidance information is provided decrease compared to the cases when no pubic information is provided. Also, we found that the learning parameter of the learning mechanism model always changes under nonstationary traffic condition. In addition, learning process of drivers does not converge on any specific value. More investigation is needed to enlarge the scope of the study and to explore more deeply driver's behavior.

Germination Rate of Zostera marina and Phyllospadix japonicus Related to Environmental Factors (환경요인에 따른 거머리말(Zostera marina)과 게바다말(Phyllospadix japonicus)의 발아율)

  • We investigated germination rate of Zostera marina and Phyllospadix japonicus, which are the most two abundant seagrass species of Korea, in related to light, salinity and temperature. Light had no significant effect on Z. marina germination, but it promoted P. japonicus germination. The highest germination of Z. marina appeared in 0 psu, and that of P. japonicus appeared in 15 psu. The optimum water temperatures for germination of Z. marina and P. japonicus were $5^{\circ}C$ and $15^{\circ}C$, respectively. These differences of optimum germination requirements of Z. marina and P. japonicus were probably caused by the difference of the habitat environment of the two seagrass species. Since few data exist concerning germination of Korean seagrasses, this study provides valuable information for the conservation of seagrass habitats in Korea.

Biodegradation Kinetics of Nonylphenol Ethoxylates by Pseudomonas sp. (Pseudomonas sp.에 의한 Nonylphenol Ethoxylates의 Kinetics)

  • Optimal biodegradation kinetics models to the initial nonylphenol ethoxylates-30 concentration were investigated and had been fitted by the linear regression. Microorganisms capable of degrading nonylphenol ethoxylates-30 were isolated from sewage near Ulsan plant area by enrichment culture technique. Among them, the strain designated as EL-10K had the highest biodegradability and was identified as Pseudomonas from results of taxonomical studies. The optimal conditions for the biodegradation were 1.0 g/ι of nonylphenol ethoxylates-30 and 0.02 g/ι of ammonium nitrate at pH 7.0 and 3$0^{\circ}C$. The highest degradation rate of nonylphenol ethoxylates-30 was about 89% for 30 hours incubation on the optimal condition. Biodegradation data were fit by linear regression to equations for 3 kinetic models. The kinetics of biodegradation of nonylphenol ethoxylates was best described by first order model for 0.1 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ι nonylphenol ethoxylates-30 ; by Monod no growth model and Monod with growth model for 0.5 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mι and 1.0, 5.0 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mι, respectively.

Removal of Rhodamine B using Electrocoagulation Process (전기응집 공정을 이용한 Rhodamine B의 제거)

  • The performance of a electrocoagulation (EC) process was examined for the removal of Rhodamine B (RhB) using iron electrode. The effects of operational parameters such as electrode material (aluminum and iron), current density, NaCl dosage, intial pH and initial dye concentration on RhB removal efficiency were investigated. The optimum range for each of these operating variables were experimentally determined. The experimental results showed that the iron is superior to aluminum as sacrificial electrode material. The optimum time of electrolysis, current density, NaCl dosage and pH were 10 min, 1630 A/$m^2$, 4 g/L and neutral pH, respectively. Under these conditions, RhB was effectively removed (> 93.4%) and also more than 80% of COD was removed (> 88.9%) when the initial concentration of RhB was 230 mg/L. The electrical energy consumption in the above conditions for the color and COD of RhB removal were 10.3 and 10.8 kWh/kg RhB, respectively. The electrocoagulation process could be a promising technology to treat dye wastewater containing RhB.

  • This study was performed to determine optimum conditions of batch type cultivation of Isochrysis galbana cultivated under various wavelengths of light emitting dioes (LEDs). Among LEDs used in the cultivation, white LED was found to be the most effective light source, and light intensity of 3,000Lux resulted in the most effective for the cultivation of Isochyrysis galbana. Comparison with common light source, fluorescent light, showed less effective than that with white LED. Four different air flow rates were tested to overcome shading effects due to denser cell concentration in the solution. In results, cell growth rates and maximum cell concentrations were similar regardless of air flow rates. Three times greater cell concentrations, however, were observed when air was applied.

  • 본 논문에서는 유류 오염물의 흡수 반응이 가능한 반응재료에 대하여 지중 구조 재료로서의 적용성 검토를 목적으로 배합조건에 따른 다짐시험을 실시하였다. 다짐시험 결과, 주요 반응물질이 최적함수비에 미치는 영향은 미미하였으나, 최대건조단위중량의 영향인자로 평가되었다.

  • 에너지 절약과 환경 공해분제 그리고 최근에 부각되고 있는 지구온난화 문제 등을 해결하기 위해 고효율 발전시스템인 연료전지가 주목을 받고 있다 연료전지는 연소과정 없이 화학에너지를 전기 화학적으로 직접 전기로 변환시키는 시스템으로 효율이 높고 공해 물질의 배출이 거의 없기 때문에 매우 이상적인 발전장치이다. 연료전지 발전시스템의 철거 제어기 설계를 위해 필요한 운전 조건 즉 운전온도 압력 등의 운전조건과 연료 농도 공급량이 전지의 성능에 미치는 영향에 대한 특성을분석하였고 이들을 정리하여 최적제어를 위한 기본방식을 얻기 위해 이용하였다 실재 스택에 적용하기 위한 관련 측정시스템과 제어기는 dSPACE-1103과 ControlDesk를 사용하여 구성하였다.
