Applications of high resolution satellite image in road alignment design (도로의 최적노선 선정시 고해상도 위성영상의 활용 방안)

  • Nowadays, digital maps of 1:5,000 scale are used to plan and review far road alignment design. However, the updating and modifying period of digital maps is not so harmonious as topographical changes caused by rapid developments can be reflected in digital maps, the different areas between real surface and digital map can be found easily. This research is aimed to suggest that the use of high resolution satellite image is effective way to get latest topographical information for road alignment design about wide region. IKONOS satellite images were geometrically corrected, and the road alignment data previously designed by traditional procedure were overlapped on the satellite images. As a result, the satellite image maps clearly described wrong road alignment, and modification of road alignment could be accomplished adequately By these procedures, road alignment design was Improved in quality, and could be reasonable and economic design to prevent modification that would be happened in the next step of practical plan. For the geometric correction method of IKONOS images, Thin Plate Spline(TPS) transformation with large number of ground control points, as well as ortho rectification, was effective.

  • This paper performed studies on a guide for an environmental assessment necessary to select railroad route optimally, and presented techniques for an environmental friendly route selection using AHP(Analytical Hierarchy Process) as an objective method. The AHP is an approach to decision making that involves multiple choice criteria into a hierarchy and assessing the relative importance of each criterion, and determining an overall ranking of the alternatives. For the purpose of this study, we established the weight and the order of major environmental assessment items based on the survey of experts. The results of the weight by AHP were in order of Fauna & Flora, Topography & Geology, Nature Environmental Assets, Noise & Vibration, Water Quality, Landscape and Air Quality indicating natural environment should be in priority. To develop the more efficient environmental friendly route selection systems, it is necessary to consider economical, technical, and social aspects in addition to environmental consideration.

Feature Subset Selection in the Induction Algorithm using Sensitivity Analysis of Neural Networks (신경망의 민감도 분석을 이용한 귀납적 학습기법의 변수 부분집합 선정)

  • In supervised machine learning, an induction algorithm, which is able to extract rules from data with learning capability, provides a useful tool for data mining. Practical induction algorithms are known to degrade in prediction accuracy and generate complex rules unnecessarily when trained on data containing superfluous features. Thus it needs feature subset selection for better performance of them. In feature subset selection on the induction algorithm, wrapper method is repeatedly run it on the dataset using various feature subsets. But it is impractical to search the whole space exhaustively unless the features are small. This study proposes a heuristic method that uses sensitivity analysis of neural networks to the wrapper method for generating rules with higher possible accuracy. First it gives priority to all features using sensitivity analysis of neural networks. And it uses the wrapper method that searches the ordered feature space. In experiments to three datasets, we show that the suggested method is capable of selecting a feature subset that improves the performance of the induction algorithm within certain iteration.

  • The economical efficiency and easy ship building have enabled to spread FRP ships in the shipbuilding field. As waste FRP ships have been thrown away at a river or within a harbour, this matter has become issues. For the improvement of this matter, the melting technique and system of waste FRP ships was developed. But, Decision making was required for a location plan of the melting system of waste FRP ships. It's recognized that the location decision of this system is difficult due to the dependence on technical, economical, environmental factors. In this paper, we survey the primary factors of location-economic, life-environment, infrastructure and make up a question for the experts. We also calculate the important weight and related weight using Fuzzy AHP, Limiting probability method and discuss on the calculation results on the proposed sites.

  • This study analyzed opinions of specialists checking of industrial environment, analysis of bid guideline to select environment friendly railway corridor and choose weight factors. Thus, 7 major categories were extracted from 20 EIA categories and essential supplement request items for environment friendly railway corridor selection. To select environment friendly railway corridors, many alternatives should be compared and the assessment of each alternative must be carried out on the basis of these 7 categories. To solve this problem, the selected method was AHP which simplifies the complex problems utilizing hierarchy, quantifying qualitative problems through 1:1 comparison, and extracting objective conclusions by maintaining consistency. As a result, a GUI-based program was developed which provides basic values of weighted parameters of each category defined by specialists, and a quantification of detailed assessment guidelines to ensures consistency.

  • Riverbank filtration for water supply has been employed for about 150 years in developed countries. In Korea, the feasibility of riverbank filtration has been investigated since 1990's for large river basins, to find a solution to stably meet the ever-increasing demand for water. Recently, some cites in the Nak-dong River Basin have been supplying the water through riverbank filtration. This research studies the feasibility of riverbank filtration in Seoul. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), which selects the most optimal alternative by hierarchically classifying various attributes and then quantifying the importance of each attribute, was applied to candidate locations for the selection of riverbank filtration site. The Kwangnaru district, which has advantages in water quality and close connectivity to the existing water purification facility, was selected as the most optimal site.

  • Though many techniques for the damage assessment of structures have been studied recently, most of them can be only applied to simple structures. Therefore, practical damage assessment techniques that evaluate the damage location and the damage state for large structures need to be developed. In this study, a damage assessment technique using a neural network is developed, in which the bilevel damage assessment procedure is proposed to evaluate the damage of a large structure from the limited monitoring data. The procedure is as follows ; first, for the rational selection of damage critical members, the members that affect the probability of failure or unusual structural behavior are selected by sensitivity analysis. Secondly, the monitoring points and the number of sensors that are sensitive to the damage severity of the selected members are also selected through the sensitivity analysis with a proposed sensitivity measurement format. The validity and applicability of the developed technique are demonstrated by various examples, and it has been shown that the practical information on the damage state of the selected critical members can be assessed even though the limited monitoring data have been used.

  • The objective of this study is to illustrate the procedures, processes, and considerations of site selection for the construction plan of a new main library in a metropolitan city. The case to be discussed in this paper is the new library of Busan. As a regional main library supported by the law, the new main library can serve as a representative public library for the citizen, which will serve as a community center, an intellectual archive, and the policy hub for the regional information services. In this paper, the site selection strategy and specific evaluation methods for the new Busan central metropolitan library have been discussed. It also strived to illustrate elements to be considered for the planning of a regional central library as other cities and provinces may refer to for their own regional central library planning.

  • In order to improve work efficiency in high-rise apartment building construction, it is required to establish the major criteria and practical method for selecting the construction lifts. It is necessary to analyze work efficiency and economic feasibility depending on speed, size and capacity of lifting equipment and characteristics of construction projects. The purpose of this research is to develop the fundamental process and information for selecting the lift in order to plan and manage the material lifting and laborers' vertical transporting in the high-rise apartment building projects more effectively. In order to satisfy the objective of the research, work performance of the lifting machines with different speed and carrying capacity is analyzed under the practical constraints. In addition, potential economic evaluation is conducted. One of the significant findings of the research is that the mid-speed lift shows 43% improvement in work efficiency compared with the low-speed lift. The results of the research will be used as the basis for developing the further optimal lifting management system.

  • 효율적인 수자원 관리를 위하여 전국유역조사, 수자원 장기종합계획 등 다양한 사업이 수행되고 있으며, 이를 위하여 유출해석은 필수적인 항목이라 할 수 있다. 유출해석을 위하여 수문모형 또는 관측소의 유량자료가 활용되고 있으나, 이는 기존에 관측된 유량자료를 바탕으로 구축된 수위-유량관계 곡선식(Rating-curve)을 활용하여 재생산된 자료라 할 수 있다. 즉, 수위자료는 매시간 관측소에서 측정이 되지만, 유량자료의 경우 측정이 어려울 뿐만 아니라 변동성 및 불확실성이 크기 때문에 시계열 수위를 곡신식을 통해 유량으로 변환하여 활용하고 있다. 이와 같이 수위-유량관계 곡선식의 정확성이 수문자료 생산에 핵심 요소임에도 불구하고 이에 대한 연구는 제한적이며, 특히 홍수터 등의 영향을 고려하여 분할된 곡선의 천이점 접합시 곡선식의 정확도 향상을 위한 연구도 드문 편이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 구간 분할된 곡선의 최적 천이점 선정을 위하여 Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)기법을 활용하였으며, 총 5개 구간까지 구간별 목적함수로 RMSE, RSR, 결정계수 적용시 특성변화에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 구간에 대하여 절대적인 오차를 산정하는 RMSE를 활용하는 경우 저수위 부분에 대한 오차가 증가하는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 상대적인 오차인 RSR, 결정계수를 활용하는 경우 전체 구간에 대한 오차를 보완할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. PSO기법을 활용하여 도출된 곡선식에 대해서는 구간 및 전체구간에 대한 오차(RMSE, 결정계수, RSR, MAPE)를 활용하여 불확실성을 검토할 수 있도록 하였고, 잔차분석을 통한 이상치 및 회귀곡선에 대한 정규성 검토를 수행할 수 있는 툴을 개발하였다. 레이팅 커브를 작성하는데 있어 최적화 알고리즘을 활용하여 구간분할시 천이점 선정의 자동화로 천이점 선정에 소요되는 시간을 대폭 감축할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 구간별 오차를 종합적으로 고려하여 우수한 품질의 레이팅 커브를 도출할 수 있는 기반을 구축하였다.
