Development of River Water Level Prediction Model Based on Artificial Intelligence for Independent Flood Alert (독립적 하천홍수경보를 위한 인공지능기반 하천수위예측모형 개발)

  • 최근 전 지구적인 기후변화의 영향은 강우량의 집중을 야기하며 홍수피해의 규모를 증가시키는 영향을 끼친다. 특히, 아세안 국가들은 해수면 상승, 태풍 및 집중호우에 의한 침수피해 빈발로 최소 2,000만명이 영향을 받고 있다. 국내의 홍수예보모형을 수출하여 아세안 국가에 구축하고 있으나 통신 시설이 불안정하여 중앙제어 방식의 기존의 홍수예보시스템만으로는 긴급상황에 대한 대처가 부족할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 하나의 관측소에서 수위, 강우의 관측과 홍수예측, 경보까지 한번에 가능한 관측소를 개발하기 위해 관측된 수위와 강우자료를 활용하여 인공지능기반의 하천수위예측 모형을 개발하였다. 목표 리드타임은 30분에서 6시간으로 설정하였으며 모형은 Tensorflow로 구축하였다. 시계열 자료의 예측에 적합한 LSTM 기법을 적용하였다. 연구의 대상지역은 건설연의 계측시험유역인 설마천유역으로 하였으며 학습에는 2009년부터 2020년까지의 10분 단위 수위 및 강우량자료를 활용하였다. 연구결과 설마천 유역은 규모가 작고 도달시간이 짧아 1시간 후 예측까지는 높은 정확도를 나타냈으나 3시간 이상의 예측결과는 다소 낮게 평가되었다. 다만, 비상상황에서 통신이 두절된 상황에서 위급하게 대피를 위해 홍수경보를 발령하는데는 활용이 가능 할 것으로 판단된다.

A Stable Multilevel Partitioning Algorithm for VLSI Circuit Designs Using Adaptive Connectivity Threshold (가변적인 연결도 임계치 설정에 의한 대규모 집적회로 설계에서의 안정적인 다단 분할 방법)

  • This paper presents a new efficient and stable multilevel partitioning algorithm for VLSI circuit design. The performance of multilevel partitioning algorithms that are proposed to enhance the performance of previous iterative-improvement partitioning algorithms for large scale circuits, depend on choice of construction methods for partition hierarchy. As the most of previous multilevel partitioning algorithms forces experimental constraints on the process of hierarchy construction, the stability of their performances goes down. The lack of stability causes the large variation of partition results during multiple runs. In this paper, we minimize the use of experimental constraints and propose a new method for constructing partition hierarchy. The proposed method clusters the cells with the connection status of the circuit. After constructing the partition hierarchy, a partition improvement algorithm, HYIP$^{[11]}$ using hybrid bucket structure, unclusters the hierachy to get partition results. The experimental results on ACM/SIGDA benchmark circuits show improvement up to 10-40% in minimum outsize over the previous algorithm $^{[3] [4] [5] [8] [10]}$. Also our technique outperforms ML$^{[10]}$ represented multilevel partition method by about 5% and 20% for minimum and average custsize, respectively. In addition, the results of our algorithm with 10 runs are better than ML algorithm with 100 runs.

A Prospect for Growth and Economic Size of Foods-for-Elderly Industry -Focused on Health Functional Foods and Foods for Special Dietary Uses- (고령친화식품산업의 성장과 규모 전망 -건강기능식품과 특수용도식품을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to predict the economic size of foods-for-elderly market, which will be valuable information for establishing related policy and backup system. After setting the scope of related industry, detailed information for current market situation was investigated and a systematic forecast for market changes in the future was performed. Economic growth, changes in consumer expenditure and economic status of the elderly, current subscription of medical insurance and saving for pension were reflected. In addition, a survey toward related firms was completed and changes in aged population and incidence of chronic disease in the elderly were taken into account. Results show that the annual growth rate of the market was predicted to be the minimum 4.54% through the maximum 8.32% from 2010 to 2025 and its market size was forecasted to be the minimum 7,073 ten million won through the maximum 10,976 ten million won. It is expected that the market of foods-for-elderly will grow rapidly with development of foods technology and fast increase of aged population. Especially, growth of health functional foods and foods for special dietary uses for elderly will be distinguished. However, it seems that related firms are on the hedge, watching current trend of the related industry. This may results in insufficient supply against the demand. Therefore, policy for foods-for-elderly should be introduced and systematically administered, including R&D support, standardization and authentication for foods-for-elderly, construction of related database system.

Application of Direct Analysis Method Considering Initial Imperfection Limitation (초기변형 허용값을 고려한 직접해석법 적용)

  • As the first step to suggest effective ways of using direct analysis method considering current situations of construction fields in Korea, analytical approach is used to verify direct analysis method which adapts initial imperfection limitation of Korean specification of building construction. The main analytical variables are size of frames, axial load ratio, axial load distribution, value of notional loads, location of notional loads, and applied method of notional loads. The results show that the use of initial imperfection limitation of Korean specification, L/700 is suitable, and the recommendable method to use direct analysis method is applied notional loads based on L/700 as minimum lateral load at each story, even if B2 is less than 1.5 and lateral loads exist.

Energy Efficient Cluster Event Detection Scheme using MBP in Wireless Sensor Networks (센서 네트워크에서 최소 경계 다각형을 이용한 에너지 효율적인 군집 이벤트 탐지 기법)

  • Many works on energy-efficient cluster event detection schemes have been done considering the energy restriction of sensor networks. The existing cluster event detection schemes transmit only the boundary information of detected cluster event nodes to the base station. However, If the range of the cluster event is widened and the distribution density of sensor nodes is high, the existing cluster event detection schemes need high transmission costs due to the increase of sensor nodes located in the event boundary. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient cluster event detection scheme using the minimum boundary polygons (MBP) that can compress and summarize the information of event boundary nodes. The proposed scheme represents the boundary information of cluster events using the MBP creation technique in the large scale of sensor network environments. In order to show the superiority of the proposed scheme, we compare it with the existing scheme through the performance evaluation. Simulation results show that our scheme maintains about 92% accuracy and decreases about 80% in energy consumption to detect the cluster event over the existing schemes on average.

  • The conjugate gradient (CG) method is one of the most efficient algorithms for solving a linear system of equations. In addition to being used as a linear equation solver, it can be applied to a least-squares problem. When the CG method is applied to large-scale three-dimensional inversion of magnetotelluric data, two approaches have been pursued; one is the linear CG inversion in which each step of the Gauss-Newton iteration is incompletely solved using a truncated CG technique, and the other is referred to as the nonlinear CG inversion in which CG is directly applied to the minimization of objective functional for a nonlinear inverse problem. In each procedure we only need to compute the effect of the sensitivity matrix or its transpose multiplying an arbitrary vector, significantly reducing the computational requirements needed to do large-scale inversion.

A Method of BDD Restructuring for Efficient MCS Extraction in BDD Converted from Fault Tree and A New Approximate Probability Formula (고장수목으로부터 변환된 BDD에서 효율적인 MCS 추출을 위한 BDD 재구성 방법과 새로운 근사확률 공식)

  • BDD is a well-known alternative to the conventional Boolean logic method in fault tree analysis. As the size of fault tree increases, the calculation time and computer resources for BDD dramatically increase. A new failure path search and path restructure method is proposed for efficient calculation of CS and MCS from BDD. Failure path grouping and bottom-up path search is proved to be efficient in failure path search in BDD and path restructure is also proved to be used in order to reduce the number of CS comparisons for MCS extraction. With these newly proposed methods, the top event probability can be calculated using the probability by ASDMP(Approximate Sum of Disjoint MCS Products), which is shown to be equivalent to the result by the conventional MCUB(Minimal Cut Upper Bound) probability.

The Trajectories of Welfare States after Global Economic Crisis (세계 경제위기 이후 복지국가의 진로)

  • After global economic crisis, most countries increased the welfare expenditure as a part of stimulus package. As a However welfare expenditure was decreased radically as the crisis was transmitted into the financial crisis. Which turning point is the welfare state going through now? Although the need for the welfare and the role of the state to take responsibility of public welfare has increased because of poverty and polarization, responses of the state against the crisis had focused on the aid to the financial industry and cutting taxes and showed limitations in coordination. Financial limitation of welfare expenditure, political individualism, the change of class politics and the mixture of the welfare institutions and financial institutions make have a pessimistic prospect of the retrenchment to the minimalist welfare state. As neoliberal state is continued cash benefits mainly for the middle class is being decreased. As a result, the direction the welfare states pursue is prospected to win over the poor by strengthening selectivity in welfare provision rather than class coordination.

Analytical Verification of Seismic Reinforcement Effect of Port Breakwater during Earthquake (지진시 항만 방파제의 내진보강 성능에 관한 해석적 검증)

  • As large-scale earthquakes have occurred in Korea and their aftermath continues to be felt, laws and regulations on seismic design have been emphasized, and in Korea, the seismic design standards have been newly revised after the Gyeongju earthquake. In the revised seismic design standards, a stability review for the destruction of the support activity of the breakwater was newly added. Therefore, in this study, we conducted a stability analysis on the seismic reinforcement method for the study site, and checked the ground acceleration of the subgrade and the displacement of the structure over time. As a result of the stability analysis, the safety factor increased by at least 0.5 and up to 1.7. As a result of the time history analysis, the displacement of the superstructure decreased by up to 290 mm and down to 12 mm in both the shallow and deep sections before and after reinforcement, and the ground acceleration decreased by up to 5.33 m/s and down to 0.31 m/s after reinforcement.

Relationship between Government-owned Banks and Firm Size (정부소유 은행과 거래 기업 규모의 관계)

  • This study examined the impact of Government-ownership of banks on the firm size using South Korean data. The impact of Government ownership of banks as both the largest lender of government banks and the bank loan dependency of firms on government-ownership bank were measured. Empirical models considering endogenous problems and various effects of firm size were developed. All results in this paper showed that government-ownership of the main banks might have a relationship with the smaller firms. In addition, the bank loan dependency of firms on government-ownership banks might have effects on the firm size. A higher loan dependency of firms on government-owned banks resulted in smaller firms. This study used micro firm level data to analyze, from several perspectives, the relationship between government-owned banks and firm size. The existing studies go as far as inferring the effects of government-owned banks showing theoretical evidence, performing surveys, or using international comparison data. This study is differentiated from existing studies in that it analyzed in a direct manner the effects of the government-owned banks on both the firm size. This study provides insights into the privatization of government-owned banks.
