  • Brief hypnotherapy was used to a 22-year-old male soldier who had suffered from a hysterical aphonia for 10 days. Hypnosis was used to induce relaxation at physical and emotional levels and to influence the patient's attitude in a beneficial and therapeutic way. Self-hypnosis was taught in the first session. Notable improvement occurred after e second session and was maintained throughout 10months follow up. The hypnotic suggestion would be most effective if couched in a way which would enable the patient to perceive the dissolution of the symptom as reinforcing rather than losing face.

  • Brief hypnotherapy with daily self-hypnosis was used to a 20-year-old male patient who had severe warts on the fingers of both hands for 6 years. He had had several dermatological treatments, including attempts to remove the warts with topical chemotherapy, but the warts had always recurred. During the hypnotic session, it was suggested that the warts would begin to feel cool and disappear with imaginary laser. He responded well to ideosensory suggestions and was free of the warts within 5 sessions. Inquiry after 7 months revealed that no recurrence had taken place. Finally, it is stimulating to think that harmony between mind and body involving cell-mediated immunity can intervene in conditioning the course of the skin diseases.

  • Patient management is considered an important factor in dental field. The aim of this review is to analyze the efficacy of hypnosis to treat fear, anxiety, pain, stress of dental patients, and see how it can be adopted in dentistry for improving patient satisfaction. Medline research was carried out to find the use of hypnosis in dentistry and other aspects of hypnosis in medical area. It can help patient more comfortable, relax, and accordingly reduce patient's negative feelings such as fear, anxiety, pain, stress during dental treatment. Also, it affects patient recovery after surgery by accelerating healing speed and reinforce immune system. When hypnosis is used with other anesthetic method, it can reduce the use of main medication, leading to reduce possibility of side effect. Therefore, using Hypnosis can give patients more comfortable dental experience, both mentally and physically, ultimately making patients more satisfied with the dental treatment.

  • This study is designed to assess the effect of hypnosis on the pain disorder patient. We treated a patient by using hypnosis as well as traditional oriental therapy-acupuncture, herbal medicine, Chu-Na therapy. We divide the pain into four parts and then we checked the intensities of them comparing with those of the first treatment. The pain worsened by psychic factor was decreased after treatment. Especially, after hypnosis, the intensity of the pain is highly changed. Psychotherapy in oriental medicine can be helpful to treat patients who have psychic and physical disorders.

  • Cordyceps militaris, Artemisa capillaris, and Fagopyrum esculentum have been known to maintain normal blood sugar levels in folk medicine. We investigated the effects of these nutraceuticals extract supplementations on fasting and postprandial blood glucose in diabetes mellitus patients. The study population consisted of 50 diabetes subjects with a mean fasting blood glucose of 186.8${\pm}$6.2 mg/dl and postprandial blood glucose of 292.8${\pm}$10.3 mg/dl. They consumed 3 tea bags (3g per meal) of the extract of selected plants for 17 weeks. Patients treated with nutraceuticals extract supplementation showed a significant decrease of fasting blood glucose (118.4${\pm}$3.9 mg/dl) and postprandial blood glucose (160.5${\pm}$4.0 mg/dl) in 7 weeks. Nutraceticals extract supplemantation caused a significant decrease of 36.5% and 45% in fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels, respectively, and also significantly decreased HbA1c levels. This study shows that extract of nutraceuticals supplementation significantly lowered the fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels in NIDDM patients. These effects presumably contribute to the hypoglycemic activity.
