Control of multi stand alone solar power systems using digital controller (다수의 독립형 태양광 발전시스템의 디지털 제어)

  • 본 논문은 다수의 독립형 태양광 발전 시스템의 디지털 제어에 대해 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 에너지를 발생하는 태양전지, 최대전력점을 추종(MPPT)하도록 하는 Boost컨버터, 부하에 적합한 준위의 전압을 공급하는 Buck컨버터로 구성되어 있으며, 태양전지 어레이를 분할하여 제어하므로 Boost컨버터가 태양전지 어레이가 분할 된 만큼 추가된다. 제안된 방법은 디지털 제어기의 제어변수 값 들을 바꿈으로써 전체시스템의 출력특성을 쉽게 제어할 수 있어 사용되는 태양전지 어레이의 종류와 환경조건 변화에 따라 쉽게 제어변수 값들을 조정할 수 있다. 또한 하나의 디지털 제어기로 다수의 태양광 시스템을 제어하므로 고가의 디지털 제어기의 개수를 줄여 비용이 저렴한 장점이 있다.

  • The Photovoltaic systems with solar cell way Provide electrical energy to the utility/consumers, which are becoming one of the promising energy substitutes. The photovoltaic system can be classified into two types : One is the stand-alone type, and the other utility interactive one. The latter can return the generated power to the utility, but the former can't. The utility interactive systems are so valuable for peak power cut in summer season. In the photovoltaic systems the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) has been studied for the increase of the generating energy of the photovoltaic system. There are many control methods of MPPT, but a new MPPT algorithm is proposed to overcome the disadvantages of the conventional ones, and as a result the proposed method enables to improve both tracking ability and generating efficiency of photo voltaic system without DC chopper.

  • In this paper, the modular line-connected photovoltaic PCS (photovoltaic power conditioning system) is proposed. A step-up DC-DC converter using a active-clamp circuit and a dual series-resonant rectifier is proposed to achieve a high efficiency and a high input-output voltage ratio efficiently. An IncCond (incremental conductance) MPPT (maximum power point tracking) algorithm that improves MPPT characteristic is used. The PV module current is estimated without using a DC current sensor. By control a inverter using a linearized output current controller, a unity power factor is achieved. All algorithms and controllers are implemented on a single-chip microcontroller and the superiority of the proposed DC-DC converter and controllers is proved by experiments.

  • 본 논문에서는 IncCond(Incremental conductance) MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) 알고리즘에 일사량을 변수로 하여 가변적인 step 사이즈를 적용함으로써 급격한 외부환경변화에 빠르게 동작하는 개선된 성능의 MPPT 제어기법을 제시하였고, 계통연계형 3kW 태양광 PCS(Power Conditioning System)의 기본적인 제어기를 설계함에 있어 제안한 MPPT 알고리즘과 연계해 빠른 동작특성을 갖는 DC/DC 부스트 컨버터의 제어기와 DC link 전압 제어기 및 인버터 제어기를 설계하였다. 이를 PSCAD/EMTDC 시뮬레이션 프로그램으로 구현하여 제안한 제어기의 성능을 확인하였다.

  • Tracking the Maximum Power Point(MPP) of a photovoltaic(PV) array is usually an essential part of a PV system. The problem considered by MPPT techniques is to find the voltage $V_{MPP}$ or current $I_{MPP}$ at which a PV array should operate to generate the maximum power output PMPP under a given temperature and irradiance. The MPPT control methods, such as the perturb and observe method and the incremental conductance method require microprocessor or DSP to determine if the duty cycle should be increased or not. This paper proposes a simple and fast analog MPPT method. The proposed control scheme will track the MPP very fast and its hardware implementation is so simple, compared with the conventional techniques. The new algorithm has successfully tracked the MPP, even in case of rapidly changing atmospheric conditions, and Has higher efficiency than ordinary algorithms.

  • A solar power generation system on single point moored offshore plant has independent power system In order to satisfy the maritime environment and account for the number of sunless days, it is important to supply stable electric power to the systems. For these reasons, solar panels are installed in multiple directions. However, a partial shading effect occurs because the amount of light incident on each panel is different. The generated power by the solar generation system installed on land is affected by the latitude, then it is installed at an angle of 30 to $45^{\circ}$. in the case of Korea. In the case of a solar power generation system installed in a mooring type of marine plant, there is a possibility that the maximum power point is outside of the controllable range due to the partial shading effect. Therefore, a power generation loss occurs. By reducing the light amount difference between both panels, the maximum power point can exist in a range where the MPPT algorithm can track the power. The purpose is so the power generation efficiency can be further increased. In this paper, simulation results show that the highest power generation efficiency is obtained at an installation angle of $20^{\circ}$.

  • The stand-alone photovoltaic power systems are widely used for lighting equipment and CCTV. In order for these devices to be competitive, the life of power storage devices such as batteries is very important. The characteristic Hybrid supercapacitor is the high power density and long life. We have proposed a stand-alone photovoltaic power system that uses hybrid supercapacitor. The charge and discharge characteristics and the internal resistance of the hybrid capacitor were measured to configure the power converter. A stable maximum output point tracking control algorithm is proposed even with the change in solar radiation. In order to verify the validity of the proposed system, a prototype was fabricated and tested using a 18W hybrid capacitor and a 10W solar cell.

  • 본 논문에서는 120kW급에 이어 단일용량 200kW급 태양광발전용 계통연계형 인버터의 개발에 관한 내용을 설명하고 있다. 200kW급 계통연계형 태양광발전시스템은 22.9kV의 특고압 계통전원에 연계되도록 설계되었으며, 삼상 380V를 22.9kV로 승압 연계하는 2단 절연방식을 채택하였다. 200kW급 인버터는 상용주파수 변압기 절연방식으로 3상4선식 380V 60Hz 출력을 가지고 있으며, 인버터 내부에 200kVA급 변압기와 리액터를 포함하고 있다. 최대 전력점 추종(Maximum Power Point Tracking, MPPT)제어 기법으로 P&O 알고리즘을 적용하였으며, 3상 IGBT 인버터를 DSP로 제어하였다. 본 논문에서는 200kW급 단일용량 인버터를 개발함에 있어, 계통연계 시험, 단독운전 검출 및 방지 시험, 발전량에 따른 효율과 THD 측정 등의 결과를 보이고 있다.

  • In the newly developed control method, the current flowing into SPE cell is the only one considerable factor. So, the structure of control circuit becomes simple and the manufacturing cost of the control device decreases. In conventional power comparison MPPT control method however, a voltage and current coming out from PV cell should be feedbacked to chase maximum power point at every moment. Then, the structure of control circuit becomes so complex and the risk of control failure is much higher than the novel MPPT control method. Therefore, PV generation system by a novel MPPT control method is especially operated much more safely in case of a huge system, because the voltage coming out from PV-cell is not needed to be feedbacked. In this paper, the PV-SPR system was actually manufactured based on the simulation model of PSCAD/EMTDC program and the results tested were shown. Authors are sure that it is the most useful method to maximize power from PV to SPE with only a feedback of SPE input current.
