  • In this paper, a new auto-tuning PI controller for the speed servo system of a PMSM is designed by using limited step response characteristics. The method is proposed that gets information about auto-tuning of PI regulator by the injection of step input, called limited input, during a transient response time of control. System parameter estimation and speed control could be continuously executed. This means that in despite of system uncertainty the system information obtained by limited input can be continuously applied to the PI regulator. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed auto-tuning algorithm through simulation and experiment result of the speed control for a PMSM having monotone increasing step response.

  • Purpose : This study was undertaken to investigate clinical aspects of nutcracker syndrome in children including sexual distribution, age of onset, the ratio of peak flow velocity between the narrowed and dilated portions in the left renal vein and prevalence of hematuria or proteinuria. Materials and Method : The subjects included 30 patients diagnosed with nutcracker syndrome using Doppler sonography from September 1999 to January 2001 in Severance Hospital, Department of Pediatric Nephrology. The diagnostic criteria for nutcracker syndrome was a peak flow velocity of ratio is more than 5.0. Results : Patients consisted of 14 males and 16 females. The mean age was 9.19${\pm}$2.31 years old and the ratio of peak flow velocity was 8.52${\pm}$2.24. Age of onset us higher in males 9.68${\pm}$2.82 year old than in females, 8.76${\pm}$1.72 year old respectively(P<0.05). But there was no difference in the ratio of peak flow velocities ; 8.45${\pm}$2.31 in the male group , 8.58${\pm}$2.25 in the female group(P>0.05). There was no difference in the age of onset and the ratio of peak flow velocity between patients with hematuria and without hematuria. Among patients with nutcracker syndrome, 24 cases of hematuria, 3 cases of proteinuria only, and 3 cases of hematuria with proteinuria. Conclusion : In children of school age, early diagnosis of nutcracker syndrome and consistent follow up is worthy of consideration, especially ill the prevention of sequelae. (J. • Based on experimental study of lycopodium dust particles' behavior, we suggest the flame propagation model through dust clouds. With dust concentration, flame velocity reaches a maximum value at $170g/m^3$ to exceed the stoichometric concentration for lycopodium-air mixture combustion and decreases slightly in the richer side of $500g/m^3$. At $47{\sim}200g/m^3$, mean velocity of particle increases in proportion to flame velocity. As the sum of burning rate and particle velocity is approximate in flame velocity, the flame propagation velocity with lycopodium dust concentration can be estimated by the calculation and it was found that behavior of particles is useful for better understanding of dust flame propagation velocity.

  • This paper presents speed control of IPMSM drive using neural network(NN) PI controller. In general, PI controller in computer numerically controlled machine process fixed gain. They may perform well under some operating conditions, but not all. To increase the robustness of fixed gain PI controller, NNPI controller proposes a new method based neural network. NNPI controller is developed to minimize overshoot rise time and settling time following sudden parameter changes such as speed, load torque and inertia. Also, this paper is proposed speed control of IPMSM using neural network and estimation of speed using artificial neural network(ANN) controller. The back propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. The results on a speed controller of IPMSM are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed gain tuner. And this controller is better than the fixed gains one in terms of robustness, even under great variations of operating conditions and load disturbance.

  • When calculating an intersection collision speed using a formula, it is very difficult to grasp the degree of deceleration of a vehicle after the collision unless there is road surface trace in the entire section where each vehicle moved from the point of collision to their final positions after the collision. A vehicle's motion trajectory shows an irregular curve after a collision due to the effects of inertia based on the driving characteristics of the vehicle, the eccentric force according to the collision site, and the collision speed. Therefore, it is very important to set the appropriate departure angle after a collision for accurate collision speed analysis. In this study, based on experimental collision data using a computer simulation (PC-Crash), the correlation between an appropriate vehicle departure angle and the post-collision speed was analyzed, and then, a regression analysis model was derived. Through this, we propose a method to calculate collision speed by applying only the vehicle departure angle in some types of collisions for traffic accidents at intersections.

  • This paper reports the results of the eruption of a volcano on Jeju Island at a certain rate, and the tumulus formed after the eruption and the basalt that erupted from the middle of Mt. Halla washed up to the sea. We analyzed the speed when basalt underground magma breaks through the neutral zone on the ground with an absolute temperature of about 1000K and explodes at an absolute temperature of 1200K at an altitude of 1950m. The density of combustion gas becomes smaller than the surrounding air due to the plume volcanic eruption, which is the heat flow of the flame column due to buoyancy, and buoyancy is generated and an updraft is formed. Flame pillars are classified as continuous, intermittent, and buoyant flame zones. As the speed of the flame pillar of Mt. Halla (1950m) falls from the highest point it has risen, potential energy is converted into kinetic energy and is caused by the flow of fluid, solving these two equations equal, the volcanic eruption velocity is 87.5 m/s. At this time, the density of magma is inversely proportional to the temperature. Geomunoreum (456m) had an explosion speed of 42.6m/s.

  • In this letter, a QR decomposition based sequential BP detection scheme is proposed for MIMO systems. The proposed scheme performs the sequential updates from the observation node having the smallest degree among all the observation nodes. Our simulation results verify that the proposed scheme achieves an improved error performance with a significantly accelerated detection convergence speed compared to the conventional schemes.

  • This paper proposes an Intelligent Speed Estimator in order to realize the speed-sensorless vector control of an induction motor. Intelligent Speed Estimator used Model Reference Adaptive System which has Fuzzy-Neural adaptive mechanism as Speed Estimation method. The Intelligent Speed Estimator estimates the speed of an induction motor with a rotor flux of a reference model and adjustable model in MRAS. The Intelligent Speed Estimator reduces the error of the rotor flux between the voltage flux model and the current flux model using the error and the change of error as input of the Estimator. The computer simulation is executed to verify the propriety and the effectiveness of the proposed speed estimator.

  • This paper presents robust control performance of a direct current(DC) motor with brake system adopting a giant electrorheological(GER) fluid, whose distinguished feature is an extremely high value of yield stress. As a first step, Bingham characteristics of the GER fluid is experimentally investigated using the Couette type electroviscometer. A cylindrical type of ER brake is then devised based on the Bingham model, and its braking torque is evaluated. Structural analysis of ER break is performed using ANSYS. After formulating the governing equation of motion for the DC motor with ER brake system, a sliding mode control algorithm, which is very robust to external disturbances and parameter uncertainties, is synthesized and experimentally realized in order to achieve desired rotational speed trajectories. The tracking responses of the control system are then evaluated and verified by presenting speed control performance.
