In this paper, virtual reality programming modules were developed for software education advanced courses in elementary and middle schools. And the effectiveness of the developed module was also analyzed. As the result, virtual reality programming module developed in this study was proven to be suitable for software education advanced courses required after basic coding in elementary and middle school. In particular, it is expected that it will be very helpful for the information gifted education program which is carried out in 2,920 gifted education institutions nationwide. Also, it is expected that it will be suitable for STEM education.

This study searched the perception of observational evaluation system in visual art which elementary and middle school teachers have in mind. As results, observational evaluation system in visual art is widely accepted as important and efficient to diagnose the artistic giftedness. At the same time, subjectiveness of the system might be advantageous for student for whom teacher get favor and in-service program related to observational evaluation system is insufficient comparing to the demand from field. In spite of this, the scale for behavioral characteristics of the gifted in visual art and the test for artistic task performance are recognized as the most important and needed tools for evaluating artistic giftedness. Following the results, in order to raise up the validity and reliability of evaluation in visual art, the scales for behavioral characteristics of the gifted in visual art and the test for artistic task performance should be developed first and foremost.

The Ministry of Education (2015) announced the "2015 Revised Curriculum for Elementary and Secondary Schools" and announced that SW (Software) training for elementary and junior high school students to develop Computational Thinking will be gradually introduced from 2018. In addition, 'problem solving' and 'programming' have become important areas. Furthermore, the ability to analyze and utilize big data is becoming more emphasized. We developed and applied the statistical - Python programming convergence curriculum based on the idea that convergence education combining information and mathematics, programming and statistical literacy is needed according to current trends. Before and after the experiment, problem solving ability test and programming / mathematical interest test were conducted and compared with the corresponding sample t-test. According to the analysis results, there were significant differences in the pre- and post-test on problem solving ability, programming interest and mathematical interest at the significance level of 0.05.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the perception of elementary and secondary parents on 'Informatics' education to solve the various social problems that can occur due to the application of mandatory 'Informatics' subject and find the stable public education settlement plans. For this purpose, we conducted and analysis of questionnaire survey on 'Informatics' education for parents of elementary and secondary students who participating the SW education camp in K university. The major results of this study are as follows. Firstly, both of elementary and secondary parents show high interest in the SW education policy of the government, but they are showing distrust about the timeliness of the actual SW education policy and the support of elementary and secondary education. Secondly, both of the elementary and secondary parents showed high awareness of the necessity and importance of 'Informatics' education and they recognized that 'Informatics' education should be done in high school. Thirdly, parents of elementary and secondary school students perceive that there is not enough time for 'Informatics' education and both of elementary and secondary parents to secure teachers with professional competence as a leading factor for stable settlement of 'Informatics' education in public education field. In this study, we suggested the stable settlement plans in public education field based on the analysis results.

The school foodservice was quantitatively extended by policy of government all the while. There was carried out the survey of customer satisfaction about school foodservice by the ministry of education, science, and technology since 2006 years. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to grasp an improvement of the scores of school foodservice' quality attributes and satisfaction as compared with the preceding year by respondents and school type (elementary school, middle school, and high school). An annual survey was practiced to respondents (students, parents, and faculty) on september 2007 years and 2008 years in 16 cities and provinces. The statistics was analyzed to descriptive analysis and t-test for SPSS 12.0. The scores of school foodservice' quality attributes and overall customer satisfaction were almost increased to students, parents, and faculty and especially, big elevation in middle school. There was big increased the quality attributes such as 'providing information on foodservice', 'pleasant foodservice environment', 'kindness offered by employee' in elementary school, middle school, and high school to total respondents. An overall satisfaction in school foodservice was improved from 69.2 score to 71.9 score. On students, scores of overall satisfaction was increased from 72.9 to 74.0 as students of elementary school and from 61.5 to 65.8 as students of middle school (p < .001). Therefore, for improvement and development of school foodservice, there should be a necessary for an operator of school foodservice and an office of education to make an effort.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the changing trajectory of self-esteem and to explore contemporaneous and lagged effects of social supports(family, friends, and teacher) of 4th graders in elementary school to 9th graders in middle school. The subjects were 1,296 multiethnic students, who participated in the Multicultural Children and Adolescents Panel Study(MCAPS) from 2011 to 2016. The results of piecewise growth function showed that students' self-esteem was increased during upper grade in elementary school but soon deceased during middle school. Individual differences were found at initial, 1st and 2nd changing status. Students with higher level at initial status in self-esteem showed less increased pattern during elementary school but greater decreased pattern during middle school. In addition, supports from family and teacher showed contemporaneous effects across all 6 years while supports from friends showed such effects only for 5 years except 9th grade. Lagged effects of family were found in elementary school and significant lagged effects with supports from friends were found at 6th and 8th grade. The results of this study imply that the social support of family, friends, and teacher has an important role to encourage the self-esteem of multicultural adolescents.

The purpose of this study is to investigate inquiry levels in the laboratory practices of beginning middle school science teachers. For this research eight teachers were chosen among a pool of beginning teachers. Then four finalists were chosen individually by interviews. Topics associated with hands-on activity experiments were provided by the author. In order to analyze teaching-skill development, classroom observations were made under the same topic after one year. The inquiry levels of four novice teachers were confirmation or structured inquiry but the inquiry levels were not out of confirmation or structured inquiry levels when those compared to last year's one. This study contributes to the professional development of teachers and provides various informations for instructional development of beginning teachers.
