The Influence on Congruency between Image Location, Regulatory Focus and Message in Digilog Product Evaluation (이미지배치, 조절초점, 메시지 일치성이 디지로그 제품 평가에 미치는 영향)

  • Currently, there are many digilog products that combine convenience of digital product with feeling of analog product. The experiment was conducted to study the effect of image location, regulatory focus, and message direction in digilog product evaluation. First, ad evaluation of digilog product is more favorable when regulatory focus and message direction is consistent. Especially, this effect is shown when image is located in the right side. Second, people evaluate digital product warmer when regulatory focus and message direction is consistent. This effect is stronger when image is located in the left side. Last, purchase intention is more favorable when regulatory focus and message direction is consistent. This effect is shown when image is located in the right side.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the interrelationships among hotel employees' perception of job stress, burnout and counterproductive work behavior in a deluxe hotel. A total of 362 employees working for deluxe hotels in Korea participated. The results showed a positive relationship between employees' perceptions of job stress and burnout. Participants who reported a high level of burnout were more likely to manifest counterproductive work behavior. In addition, employees' prevention focus showed that moderating effects in the causal relationships between employees' burnout and counterproductive work behavior. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed.

The Effects of Focus-on-Form Instruction on L2 Learners' Grammatical Achievement: Focusing on the Deductive and Inductive FFI (형태 초점 교수법이 제2 언어학습자의 문법 성취도에 미치는 영향: 연역적 방법과 귀납적 방법을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to explore the effects of deductive FFI and inductive FFI in L2 learners' grammatical achievement and their reaction to the grammar instruction. 84 students were placed into three groups: 29 given deductive FFI(DG), 28 receiving inductive FFI(IG), and 27 with traditional instruction(CG). All students completed pre/post tests and questionnaires, and took a delayed post test 9 weeks after the treatment. For statistical anlayses of all the quantitative data, a one-way ANOVA, paired samples T-test, and repeated measures ANOVA were performed. The results indicated that both deductive and inductive FFI affected learners' grammatical achievement and their achievement was sustained over time. Deductive FFI was more effective than inductive FFI, whereas the IG students more positively changed their attitudes and perceptions to the grammar instruction. These findings of the study imply that FFI should be valued in an Korean EFL classroom, which would contribute to further longitudinal research for its sustainability.

The Impact of Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy on the Entrepreneurial Intention of University Students: The Moderating Effect of Regulatory Focus (대학생의 창업효능감이 창업의지에 미치는 영향: 조절초점의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of entrepreneurial self-efficacy on entrepreneurial intention. Further, the paper aims to study the moderating effect of regulatory focus in the relationship between entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention. As per regulatory focus theory, individuals have different goal attainment approaches and underlying motivations; this posits two distinct orientations: promotion focus and prevention focus. Consequently, we hypothesize that the effect of entrepreneurial self-efficacy on entrepreneurial intention would differ depending on the individual's regulatory focus, either promotion or prevention. In order to test the hypotheses, we select a random sample of 494 entrepreneurship students at six universities across the country. The analysis includes a survey of 309 students. The results indicate that students' entrepreneurial self-efficacy has a positive effect on their intention to become entrepreneurs. Further, regulatory focus moderates the relationship between entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention. Specifically, the impact of entrepreneurial self-efficacy on entrepreneurial intention is greater in promotion-focused students than in prevention-focused students. The results highlight the need for education methodology that enhances students' entrepreneurial self-efficacy and specialized entrepreneurship education for prevention-focused students.

Effects of Cognitive Focus and Affective Focus on Attitude and Buying Intention in DMB Cellular Phone Purchasing (인지초점과 감정초점이 DMB 휴대폰에 대한 태도와 구매의도에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study investigated the effects of focus on consumers' attitudes and buying intentions. For these purposes, researcher compare the attitudes and buying intentions by focus groups after presenting cognitive and affective product informations about a cellular-phone. The results of present experiment were as follow: First, cognitive focus led to highest cognitive attitude and affective focus also led to highest affective attitude. Second, It was highest buying intention in an affective focus and lowest in a non-focus. Third, a cognitive focus resulted in more cognitive words being recalled, by comparison with an affective focus, whereas an affective focus resulted in more affective words being recalled, by comparison with a cognitive focus. But they were not significant. These results show that cognitive and affective focuses lead to different attitudes that differ in their basis. An attitude formed in an affective focus results in a stronger buying intention than an attitude formed in an cognitive focus. The present findings also suggest that the different focus conditions result in different attitudes and buying intentions being formed, and to be diluting but to more enduring effects.

Influence of Socially-Prescribed Perfectionism on Social anxiety and Depression in Academic High School Students: Mediation Effects of Self-focused Attention and Self-Criticism (인문계 고등학생의 사회부과 완벽주의가 우울과 사회불안에 미치는 영향: 자기초점적 주의와 자기비난의 매개효과)

  • The study examined the influence of socially-prescribed perfectionism (SPP) on depression and social anxiety, and further investigated the mediating effects of self-focused attention and self-criticism. The questionnaires designed to measure multidimensional perfectionism, social anxiety, depression, self-focused attention, self-criticism scale for adolescents were administered twice at an interval of three weeks to 273 students (83 men, 190 women) enrolled at high schools in Gyeonggi-do Province. The findings for the present study were as follows. First, SPP, depression, social anxiety, self-focused attention, and self-criticism showed all positive correlations. Second, the mediation effect from the SPP to depression via self-focused attention was statistically significant, whereas the indirect effect from the SPP to depression via self-criticism was not. Third, the pattern in depression was the same in social anxiety. The results provide indirect support for the social anxiety cognitive model (Clark & Wells) with regards to social anxiety particularly in Korean high school students. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.

Research on Form-focused Instruction in Korean Language Education: A Critical Review (한국어교육에서의 형태초점교수법 연구: 비판적 검토)

  • The purpose of this study is to review empirical research on Form-focused instruction (FFI) in Korean language education from a critical perspective to better understand the effectiveness of FFI. To achieve this goal, several databases were searched to locate relevant experimental and quasi experimental studies published in peer-reviewed journals. Out of 66 studies collected, 12 studies met the inclusion criteria. The studies were then analyzed in terms of subjects, target grammar, treatment, measurement, and the learning outcomes of different techniques. In general, several types of FFI techniques had positive effects on helping learners acquire Korean as a second or foreign language. The results of the study will provide a conceptual framework which identifies the major factors affecting the effectiveness of FFI. The results will also be able to inform future meta-analytical research of existing studies.

  • To accomplish these purposes, First, this research divided hallmark of the environment friendly agricultural products into organic products and pesticide-free products and participants are classified as having promotion or prevention regulatory focus. In addition, consumer value type is categorized into value of social psychology and functional value. Second, construal level divided into high and low on the relationships between the consumer value and purchase intention. The main factors of the consumer value such as value of social psychology and functional value were found from the previous studies. This study is meaningful that the fit of regulatory focus between hallmark of organic products and pesticide-free products in environment friendly agricultural products. The regulatory relevance could moderate the level of persuasion knowledge activation. Also, This research is meaningful that the fit of construal level theory between Consumer value and purchase intention by person's psychological personality. The construal level relevance could moderate the level of marketing activation.

  • The pulsed-delayed extraction (PDE) in linear time-of-flight mass spectrometer(TOF MS) is characterized on the enhancement of resolution, mass-depth of focus and effect of instrumentahan 2000. The ion signals separate isotopically by up to molecular weight of 2500 in instrumental broadening of 5 ns, which is a good agreement with calculation. The fragmentation paths of PPG can be sug-gested by the isotopica distributions of fragment series produced when PPG desorbed from graphite surface.

Comparative study on Focalization in Film from a Narratological Perspective (서사학적 관점에서 본 영화의 초점화 양상 연구)

  • Film is a visual art. A process of film totally depends on our sense of sight. It indicates that a way of delivering narrative in the film is "showing", not "telling". There has already been established theories about "who sees" and "who tells" in narratology. It explains who the narrator is and how the narrator delivers in literary works which is represented in terms of "Point-of View". Therefore the study contents construct internal formal elements of the narrator and point of view into 2 individual researches, and the result can be summed up as below. From a narratological perspective, the narrator has roles and deeds as a narrative mediator who mediates the story and leads the story as presenting the origin with images and voices in the text extra and intra world through the process of producing the narrative inferred. To eliminate ambiguousness the term 'point-of view', this article applies 'focalization' theory to analyze narrative structure of film. The result of analysis shows that there are three focalizers in film; director, protagonist-character and camera. And aspects of film can be varied by distance of each focalizer. These distances between focalizers limit amount of visual information.
