Assessment of Relative Importance to the Early Effect of Released Radionuclides During Nuclear Power Plant Accident (원전 사고시 방출핵종의 조기 영향에 대한 상대적 중요도 평가)

  • This article suggests the radionuclides which should be considered more important to the offsite consequence assesment during a nuclear power plant accident. For this purpose, the relative importance to the early health effects of released radionuclides on the major organs during the accident is estimated under the assumption of the same release fraction. The inventories of the 25 elements, 54 nuclides selected in the Reactor Safety Study are calculated by ORIGEN 2 code. The organs of interest in the estimation are G. I. track, bone marrow, thyroid and lung. The result shows the relative potential importance of radionuclides as follows: For G.I. track, Np, Ce, Ru, Y, and Zr are of importance in sequence, Np, I, La, Sr, Ba for bone marrow, I and Te for thyroid, Cm, Ce, Ru, Pu, Zr for lung. In addition to iodine and noble gases, therefore, the potential contribution of those nuclides listed above to the offsite consequences should not be overlooked for some accidents of particular sequence.

The Effect of Curing Temperature History on Concrete Strength Development (양생온도 이력이 콘크리트 강도발현에 미치는 영향)

  • 본 연구는 양생온도이력이 콘크리트 강도에미치는 영향을 평가하기 위한 것으로 물 시멘트비가 60%, 45%, 26%인 3종류의 콘크리트에대하여 5$^{\circ}C$부터 5$0^{\circ}C$까지의 항온양생과 초기재령에 고온도이력을 변수로 한 변동온도양생을 실시한 공시체의 압축강도를 측정하였다. 또한 그 실험결과에 강도평가 방법의 하나인 Maturity 개념을 도입하여 강도평가에 미치는 재령, w/c, 온도이력 등에 대한 영향을 평가하였다. 항온양생 실험결과에 따르면 물시멘트비가 낮을수록 초기재령에서의 강도발현은 높게 나타나며 양생온도 5$0^{\circ}C$인 경우를 제외하고 재령7일까지의 강도발현은 양생온도가 높을수록 크게 나타나고 있다. 한편, 변동온도양생실험결과에 의하면 초기재령에서 고온양생한 콘크리트의 강도발현은 물시멘트비의 영향을 크게 받으며, 1주 이후의 양생온도가 강도발현에 미치는 영향은 1주까지의 고온도이력에 대한 영향에 비교해 2차적이다. 기존의 Maturity개념인 Saul-Bergstrom의 함수와 Ooi의 함수를 가지고 항온 및 변동온도 양생실험결과를 분석한 결과, 전체적으로 Saul-Bergstrom식에 의한 경우가 실험값과의 차이가 작게 나타났으나 두 식 모두 Maturity 가 큰 경우에는 계산에 의한 값이 실험에 의한 값보다 크게 나타나고 있어 장기 재령시 강도평가는 한계강도 개념을 고려한 새로운 Matruity함수를 제안할 필요가 있다.

A Study on the Structural Analysis of Controllability in Chemical Processes (화학 공정의 제어성의 구조적 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Chemical processes are highly nonlinear, multivariable systems and have complex structures. However, the controllability evaluation procedures are complicated, and the required information is very often unknown at the early design stage. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a procedure to evaluate and enhance controllability while designing processes and plants. To evaluate controllability in the design stage, it is most efficient to analyze process structure. Relative order can be used as a measure of 'physical closeness' between input and output variable. Structural controllability analysis using relative order is shown to be effective in a case study of heat exchanger network synthesis.

Initial Shear Strength of Hollow Sectional Columns Subjected to Lateral Force (횡하중을 받는 RC 중공단면 기둥의 초기전단강도)

  • Ductility-based seismic design is strongly required for the rational and cost-effective design of RC piers, and a reliable evaluation of shear strength is indispensable for its success. Unlike the flexural behavior of RC columns, shear behavior is highly complex, due to its many effects such as size, aspect ratio, axial force, ductility and so on. To address this, many design and empirical equations have been proposed considering these effects. However, these equations show significant differences in their evaluation of the initial shear strength, and the reduction in strength with the increase of ductility. In this study, the characteristics of initial shear strength of hollow sectional columns were investigated using experiments with the parameters of aspect ratios, void ratios, web area ratios and load patterns. The test results were analyzed through a comparison with the values predicted by empirical equations. On the basis of the mechanical characteristics and test results, a new empirical equation was proposed, and its validity was assessed.

Framework for Technology Valuation of Early Stage Technologies (초기단계 기술의 가치평가 방법론 적용 프레임워크)

  • Early stages of technology valuation have been often overlooked or under-represented. The early stage technologies are even riskier due to their inadequacy of commercial development and market applicability. More than 95% of patents fail to earn any revenues so that the majority of patents were valueless. Technology transfers from laboratories at universities and research institutes to industrial firms have increased to acquire value from invented technologies. Technology transfer, a process of transferring discoveries and innovations resulted from research to commercial sectors, typically comprises several steps: disclosing the discoveries and innovations, i.e., intellectual property (IP), evaluating the IP's economic prospects, securing a patent, copyright or trademark for the IP, commercializing the technology through licensing, forming a joint venture, or selling. At each of those stages in the research and development of technology, the value of technology would play a very important role of making decision on the movement toward the next step, however, the financial value of technology is not easy to determine due to a great amount of uncertainty in the course of research and development, and commercialization. This paper refers to technology embodied as devices, equipment, software or processes primarily developed at public research institutions such as universities. Sometimes it is also as the result of externally financed projects contracted with industry. Nearly always technology developed at public research entities results in laboratory prototypes. When it is required to define the technology transfer contract terms for the license of the university patrimonial rights to external funding companies or other interested parties, a question arises: what is the monetary value? In this paper, we present a method for technology valuation based on the identification of specific value points related to its development. The final technology value must be within previously defined value limits. This paper consists of the review of issues related to technology transfer and commercialization, the identification of characteristics of technologies in the early stage of technology development, the formulation of framework of methods to value the early stage technologies, and the conclusion and implication of the previous review.

  • 용접구조물에서 용접이음부가 차지하는 비율은 매우 작은 경우가 많지만 용접이음부에는 각종 초기결함(이들 결함으로부터 진전하는 피로 균열, 환경에 의한 균열등을 포함) 및 용접 초기의 부정형을 비롯해서 형상적 불연속 등에서 유기되는 국부적인 응력, 변형률의 집중, 잔류응력, 구속응력, 용접금속이 갖는 숙명적인 야금적 특성의 불균일, bond부 및 HAZ부에서의 용접열 싸이클에 의한 재질의 국부적 강도저하등 용접부의 강도를 저하시키는 인자들이 복합되기 쉽고, 용접구조물 전체의 내파괴 건전성평가에서 용접부가 파괴 강도는 매우 중요하다. 용접구조물의 설계, 시공의 목적은 소요성능의 확보에 있고 구조물이 사용중에 성능손실이나 불안정 파괴가 발생하지 않도록 하는 것이 주요요건이 될 것이다. 현재의 제강기술수준에서 볼 때 모재의 강 도보다 오히려 용접부의 강도 특히 피로강도 및 파괴 인성을 적절하고 합리적으로 평가하는 것이 매우 중요하다고 해도 과언이 아닐 것이다. 용접부의 강도를 평가하는데 있어서 용접부에 발 생하는 용접결함에 대한 평가는 매우 중요하며 이들 결함에 대한 허용결함한계를 평가하여 보수 여부 및 용접구조물의 신뢰성을 평가 할 필요가 있다.

Quantitative assessment of alveolar bone density change after initial periodontal therapy using digital imaging (디지털영상을 이용한 초기 치주처치후 치조골 밀도변화의 정량적 평가)

  • 치주질환이 진행되는 동안이나 치주처치후 치유되는 과정에서 치조골의 변화가 야기되는데 방사선 사진은 치조골 변화를 감지하는 유일한 비외과적인 방법이다. 미묘한 치조골 변화의 진단은 치료시나 유지관리기 환자의 평가시 중요한 바, 최근에는 규격화시킨 디지털 영상을 이용하여 정량적인 골변화 측정이 가능하게 되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 중등도의 치주질환을 지닌 환자에서 국소마취하에 초기 치주처치를 시행한후 참조체와 함께 구내 방사선 사진을 촬영하고 디지털화 한 다음 참조체 당량치를 이용하여 치조골의 밀도변화를 평가하기 위한 것이다. 이 연구를 위하여 치주질환에 이환된 환자 5명(남자 3명, 여자 2명 : 평균 47.4세)에서 탐침깊이가 5㎜ 이상이고 골내낭이 있는 제 $1{\cdot}2$ 소구치, 제 $1{\cdot}2$ 대구치 40개(상악 24개, 하악 16개)를 대상으로 구강위생교육과 치석제거술, 치근면활택술을 시행하였다. 임상지수는 술전과 술후 8주째에 측정하였고, 방사선 사진은 술전, 술후 2주, 4주, 6주, 8주째에 촬영하였고, 구리 스텝웨지를 사용하여 규격화 하였다. 촬영된 영상은 NIH image program(U.S.A)에 의해 분석되어졌고 이들 자료를 통해 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 치조골의 밀도는 초기치료후 2주째 까지는 감소된 양상을 보이다가 4주 이후로는 점차적으로 증가하는 양상을 보였다. 2. 치조골의 밀도는 초기치료전과 비교시 초기치료수 6주째와 8주째에서 유의한 차이를 보였다.(p<0.01) 3. 상하악 간의 치조골 밀도는 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다(p>0.05). 이상과 같은 결과를 통하여 볼때 초기 치주처치만으로도 치조골의 밀도가 증가됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

Initial Assessment and Care Planning in Palliative Hospice Care: Focus on Assessment Tools (호스피스 완화의료에서의 초기평가와 돌봄 계획의 수립: 평가도구를 중심으로)

  • For hospice palliative care that provides comprehensive and general care, it is necessary to use assessment tools to objectively list issues and detail care plans. The initial assessment is a process of establishing an overall direction of care by identifying the patient's symptoms, social and spiritual issues and palliative care needs on the admission day or within one day of admission. This process is also used to identify the patients' and families' awareness of the illness, prognosis, treatment options and if the Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) has been drafted. Consisting of 13 simple questions regarding the physical, mental, social, and spiritual domains, the Needs at the End-of-Life Screening Tool (NEST) is recommended as an initial assessment tool. Using specific assessment tools, a care plan is established for the issues identified in the initial assessment within three days of admission. A multidisciplinary assessment tool can be helpful in the physical domain. The psychosocial domain evaluates psychological distress, anxiety and depression. The social domain examines an ability to make decisions, understanding of the socioeconomic circumstance, family relationship, and death preparedness. A spiritual evaluation is also important, for which the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Spiritual WellBeing Scale (FACIT-Sp) or the Spiritual Health Inventory (SHI) can be used. The use of an assessment tool could not only contribute to pain mitigation a better quality of life for patients, but also provide systematic training for a multidisciplinary team; And the process itself could be a stepping stone for the better care provision.

  • In this paper, the weight tare calculation method including translation of initial loads is proposed to remove the internal balance component readings due to model weight. If the balance calibration equations are applied directly to the wind-on data without taking account these initial loads, then incorrect data will be obtained for all wind-on data calculations. The calculated model weights were compared with the actual model weights to verify the reliability of the proposed calculation technique. Also, discussions of the effects of the initial loads are given.

  • To analyze a room reverberation, many objective parameters have been suggested as measures of subjective perception in concert hall acoustics. However, it is difficult to understand the relationship among the individual parameters and to have a whole image of them. In this paper five primary objective parameters were selected and a reverberation model based on them was established by the reverberation decay curve. The proposed model was interpreted geometrically in terms of subjective characteristics. And finally we discuss the usefulness and the limitation of the model when it is applied to the analysis and.
