안티포달(Antipodal) 초광대역 통신 시스템

  • 초광대역 통신 시스템은 광대역에 걸쳐 주파수 스펙트럼이 기저 대역 잡음과 같이 존재하여 기존의 통신 시스템에 간섭을 주지 않고 고속의 통신이 가능하며, 반송파를 사용하지 않기 때문에 송.수신기의 소비 전력을 감소시키고 그의 구조를 간략화 시킬 수 있다. 본 논문은 신호의 대칭성에 의해 평균값이 0인 안티포달 초광대역 신호를 구성하고 시간 도약 부호를 이용하여 다중접속, 주파수 영역에서 에너지의 평활화 및 재밍 저항(간섭 제거)을 위 한 초광대역 통신 시스템을 제안하였다. AWGN 및 다중접속 환경에서 안티포달 초광대역 통신 시스템의 오류확률, 다중접속시 전송속도에 대해 수치해석을 통해 시스템의 성능을 분석하였다.

  • Various types of ultra-wideband components with 10's of GHz bandwidth have been developed utilizing a uniplanar ultra-wideband balun, which is a simple microstrip-to-coplanar stripline (CPS) transition structure with the operating frequency range from near DC to over 40 GHz. Developed ultra-wideband components include antennas, mixers, doublers, and detectors in a carrier type and in a surface mountable type. One of surface mountable components, for example, single balanced doubler has output frequency 8 ~ 28 GHz. These high-Performance, low-cost ultra-wideband components may replace expensive conventional components, and also can be used to develop new multi-GHz OWE application areas.

  • 미국을 비롯한 영국, 프랑스 등 주요 EU 회원국들은 국가 경쟁력 향상을 위해 초광대역망 구축을 정부 차원에서 추진하고 있다. 초광대역망 투자 계획은 모든 국민에게 통신 서비스를 제공하는 보편적 서비스 제도와 연계하여 추진하고 있다. 특히 미국의 Broadband Plan과 영국의 Digital Britain 계획을 통해 보편적 서비스 제도가 PSTN 음성 서비스에서 데이터 서비스로 전환되고 있다. 이에 반해 호주에서는 초광대역망 구축과 보편적 서비스 제도 개편 움직임이 다른 국가들과 차별되어 국가 차원에서 기업을 설립하고 망 투자와 보편적 서비스 제도를 담당하는 방향으로 움직이고 있다. 본고에서는 호주의 초광대역망 구축 계획을 살펴보고 초광대역망 환경으로 과도기 단계에서 보편적 서비스 제도 개선 현황 및 특징을 살펴보고 시사점을 살펴보고자 한다.

Investigation of Influences of UWB Antennas on Impulse Radio Channel (임펄스 전파 채널에서의 초광대역 안테나 영향 연구)

  • In this paper, influences of a ultra wideband (UWB) antenna on impulse channel measurement are investigated in time domain (TD) and frequency domain (FD) as well. Firstly, impulse response of an UWB antenna is obtained and then using the result of impulse response of the UWB antenna, influences of the antenna on impulse radio channel is analyzed. Furthermore, using the impulse response of the UWB anenna, method of impulse radio channel analysis is presented by excluding the effect of the antenna from an impulse radio channel. For verifying the theory, a modified conical monopole antenna is designed for measuring impulse radio channel and its impulse response is obtained. After that, in order to investigate the effects of the UWB antenna on an impulse radio channel, multipath environments are set up in an anechonic chamber and transmission coefficient for each multipath environment is measured with an aid of vector network analyzer. Data measured in frequency domain is transformed into those in time domain by way of signal processing. Measurement shows that such properties of the antenna as dispersion and ringing affect impulse radio channel. Moreover, using the impulse response of the antenna, impulse response of only multipath channel is obtained.

A Study on the Analysis of UWB Interference to WiMAX and Mitigation Method of Transmit Power Control (초광대역 시스템에 의한 WiMAX로의 간섭 및 송신 전력 제어 간섭 저감 방법 해석 연구)

  • This paper presents the analysis of the potential ultra-wideband(UWB) interference to WiMAX at 3.5 GHz bands and the mitigation method using transmit power control(TPC) of UWB system. UWB interference effect is evaluated with WiMax's outage probability over UWB density when multiple UWB systems and single WiMAX receiver distribute in unit area of 1$km^2$, When UWB distribution density is 20$devices/km^2$ and the dynamic range of TPC is 30 dB, UWB interference effect with TPC is decreased by 42 % rather than that without mitigation scheme. Finally, we describe that the proposed TPC is an effective method to mitigate UWB interference to WiMAX.

Performance Analysis of M-ary UWB System using MHP Pulses in the Presence of Timing Jitter (타이밍 지터 환경에서 MHP 펄스를 이용한 M 진 초광대역 시스템의 성능분석)

  • In this paper, we propose and analyze a M-ary transmission scheme in time hopping ultra-wide band(UWB) system using mutually orthogonal modified Hermite polynomial(MHP) pulses. The proposed M-ary transmission scheme employs the orthogonal property between different ordered pulses and N data bits make the M-ary signals by linear combination of M MHP pluses. The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed system has better performance and higher data rate than conventional M-ary UWB system. We derive the general form of correlation function for MHP pulses and analyze bit error rate(BER) performance over additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) with the presence of timing jitter. We show that the proposed system has the improved BER performance and robustness to timing jitter and low power spectrum density compared with conventional M-ary UWB system.

  • In this study, a new signal model suitable for UWB indoor environments with random angle spread is proposed to estimate the angle-of-arrivals(AOAs) of UWB cluster signals in an UWB wireless communication. A subspace based estimation technique adopted for this model is investigated and the estimates of the AOA and distribution parameter on the received UWB cluster signals are obtained. The proposed model and estimation technique are verified using computer simulations, and the performance of the estimation error is analyzed.

  • This paper proposes the system that offer super-wideband speech which is made by artificial bandwidth extension technique using wideband speech signal in time-domain. wideband excitation signal and line spectrum pair(LSP) are extracted based on source-filter model in time-domain. Two parameters are extended by each bandwidth extension algorithms, and then, super-wideband speech parameters are estimated. and synthesized. Subjective test shows super-wideband speech is better speech quality than wideband speech signal.

  • In the paper, characterization and analysis of UWB(Ultra Wide Band) antennas in time domain are described. The impulse propagation channel including UWB antennas is proposed for the analysis in time domain. Using the proposed propagation channel, the technique of obtaining impulse response of UWB antenna is proposed. Also, ringing, peak value of the impulse response, and the width of the impulse response are introduced as parameters for characterizing a UWB antenna in time domain. A modified UWB conical monopole antenna, a UWB TEM horn antenna, and a UWB stepped fat monopole antenna were fabricated. From the measurement of reflection coefficients, three antennas had bandwidth more than 3 GHz. The impulse responses of the antennas were measured in an anechoic chamber. The results showed that the TEM horn with highest gain has the highest peak amplitude and the stepped fat monopole antenna with narrowest bandwidth for reflection coeffcient had the widest width of the impulse response. Also, ringing in the stepped fat monopole antennas and the UWB conical monopole antenna were observed.

  • In conventional Ultra Wide Band(UWB) system, it uses Pulse Positioning Modulation Method to modulate data signal. In this paper, however, we derive power spectral density characteristic of time hopped antipodal signal using stochastic process. UWB signal employes Gaussian monopulse and Rayleigh monopulse which pulse width is 0.5 nsec and interval is 5 nsec. But comb line which produces unintentionally could be evidently reduced by the time hopped code, so this code be used to channelize for multiple access and minimize to different communication system.
