The Development of High Pressure Long Distance Fire-fighting Hose with Phosphorescent Performance (축광 성능을 갖는 고압용 장거리 호스 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This study describes the development of a long-distance hose for ultra-high pressure operation, which can be used in conjunction with an ultra-high pressure pump and can be effectively applied to the fire suppression of high-rise buildings and a long, large tunnels. Also, it has phosphorescent properties, which can help to secure the withdrawal route of the fire-fighters when they are threatened by the fire. We developed an ultra-high pressure hose aiming at a pressure of 3 MPa and a flow rate of 2000 lpm and developed an ultra-high pressure fire hose that can withstand this very high pressure by using a double jacket, triple polyurethane coating and warf (Wp) of 52. In order to ensure the performance of the developed ultra-high pressure hose, its structure, appearance, leakage at high pressure, length and elongation were inspected by a certified certification agency, who also subjected it to a peeling test, friction test, breaking pressure test and free fall test. Also, it was studied in addition to the luminescent high-pressure hose for fire-fighting. In the phosphorescence test, the luminance measurement value was more than the reference value of the luminance test after 40 minutes, which confirmed that its performance was satisfactory for fire-fighting products. In the future, if such an ultra-high pressure fire hose were commercialized and applied in the field, it could contribute to securing improved fire suppression and safer exit from fires, as compared to the fire hoses currently used in the suppression of fires in skyscraper buildings and long tunnels.

  • Up to now, most of studies on seismic analysis have been limited to analyze buildings and underground structures individually so that the interaction between them could not be analyzed effectively. Thus, in this study, a dynamic analysis was conducted for soil-structure interaction with a complex underground facility composed of a building and an adjacent underground structure constructed on a surface soil and the bed rock ground conditions. Seismic stability was analyzed based on interstory drift ratio and bending stress of structure members. As a result, an underground structure has more effect on a high-rise building than a low-rise building. However the above structures were proved to be favorable for seismic stability. On the other hand, tensile bending stresses exceeded the allowable value at the underground part of the building and the adjacent underground structure so that it turned out that the underground part could be weaker than the above part. Therefore, it is inferred that above and underground structures should be analyzed simultaneously for better prediction of their interaction behavior during seismic analyses because there exist various structures around buildings in big cities.

Observation of the Structure of Melanin Granule in Mummy's Hair Shaft Using High-Voltage Electron Microscopy (초고압전자현미경을 이용한 미라 모발 멜라닌과립의 구조 관찰)

  • Three-dimensional melanin granules of mummy's hair analyzed using high voltage electron microscopy at 1250kV. The melanin granules in the cortex of mummy's hair located in close proximity to the outer of cortex in the adjacent place of the cuticles. A lot of melanin granule performed in this area. It is a distinguished difference from modern human. While it rotated up to 60 degree counter-clockwise and taken a photo per one degree using high voltage electron microscopy. The melanin granule displayed with long elliptical and variable at the size. The size of granule is measured from $0.3{\sim}0.6{\mu}m$ in minimum diameter and $0.5{\sim}1{\mu}m$ in maximum diameter. Conclusionally, high voltage electron microscope has higher resolution and penetration power than conventional transmission electron microscope that could be load biological thick specimen.

A Study on Reducing Method for Stack Effect in High-rise Building (고층 건축물 연돌효과 저감 방법에 대한 연구)

  • 중위도 이북의 건물에서 고층건물의 혹한기 연돌효과는 건물의 여러 가지 기능에 큰 영향을 미치며, 승강기 승강로는 화재시 차압 때문에 연기의 주된 전파통로가 된다. 외피의 밀폐성능을 높여 건물 내부의 연도효과를 줄일 수 있으나, 외피의 밀폐기능은 비상시 피난을 위해 피난경로를 개방하는 순간 일시에 무력화된다. 또한 건물 외피의 밀폐성능이 우수할수록 연돌효과 그 자체로써 건물외피에 미치는 구조적 영향이 커진다. 고층부의 연돌효과는 외피를 밖으로 밀어내는 작용이므로 풍하측에서는 마이너스 풍압에 더하여 건물 외피에 부담을 증가시킨다. 그러므로 고층건물에 발생하는 혹한기 연돌효과의 영향을 정리하자면 다음과 같다. ${\bullet}$ 건물 외벽 및 창문에 미치는 구조적 영향 ${\bullet}$ 제연 시스템의 기능 저해 ${\bullet}$ 승강기 문 개폐 장애와 소음 등 설비 기능의 부정적 영향 ${\bullet}$ 공조기능 장애 ${\bullet}$ 화재시 승강기 승강로 등 수직 샤프트를 통한 연기 전파 혹한기 건물 안팎의 온도차가 40K일 때 높이 600m인 초고층 건물 최상층에 발생하는 연돌효과에 의한 차압은 풍속으로 환산할 때 32m/s에 달한다. 그러므로 초고층 건물 설계시에는 최상층의 풍하측에 설계상의 예상 최대풍속에다 이러한 환산풍속을 더한 고속 풍력이 창문을 밖으로 밀어내는 것으로 보아야 한다. 또한 공조 및 환기시스템에서는 이러한 차압을 고려하지 않으면 고층부에서 환기 성능이 무력화될 수 있다. 다음과 같은 방법들을 이용하여 고층건물의 연돌효과를 효과적으로 줄일 수 있다. 1) 계단실의 연돌효과 저감 방법 계단실에 발생하는 연돌효과에 의한 차압은 계단실에 상승기류를 발생시킨다. 이러한 차압과 상승기류는 계단실 상하부를 개방하면 자연적으로 평형을 이루게 되므로 별도의 제어가 필요 없게 된다. 또한 화재감지기와 연동하여 상하부 외벽의 개구부를 열어두게 되면 피난상황에 따라 문이 여닫힘으로써 발생하는 압력상태의 변화를 고려할 필요가 없게 된다. 2) 승강기 승강로의 연돌효과 승강로의 상하부에 대규모 개구를 두면 대규모의 외기가 도입되어 상승 유동 후 배출되므로 승강로 내부 온도 저하로 연돌효과가 저감되고, 승강로로 유입된 연기는 대규모의 외기에 희석되어 농도가 낮아지고 대부분 외부로 배출된다. 3) 샤프트 복합효과를 이용하는 방법 거실 평면적에 비해 승강기나 계단이 아주 많고 누설틈새 등 개구의 면적 합계가 크면 샤프트들이 서로 복합효과를 이루어 연돌효과에 의한 차압이 줄어든다. 연돌효과 제어용 샤프트를 하나 더 보조적으로 설치함으로써, 보조샤프트에 의해 발생하는 차압으로 거실을 가압 혹은 감압하여 문제가 되는 차압을 어느 정도 상쇄할 수 있다.

  • 최근 건축물의 초고층화에 따른 커튼월 시공에 따라 유리의 비중이 증가하고 있다. 커튼월 구조는 바람, 지진 등에 취약하며, 화재 안전성에 있어서도 취약할 것이라 판단되므로, 국내외 건축용 유리 및 커튼월의 안전기준에 대한 조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과 국내의 유리 기준은 단열 및 내풍압 성능에만 집중되어있으며, 화재 및 지진, 안전성능에 대한 기준이 미비하며, 커튼월에 대한 안전대책은 전무한 실정이다. 따라서 외국의 사례와 같이 초고층에서 커튼월의 안전성능을 고려한 설계프로세스나 안전 기준의 세부화가 필요하다고 판단된다.

The Experimental Study on Structural Performance of the Beam-Slab System (보-슬래브 시스템 구조성능에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • This study sought to suggest a structural design guide and to investigate the structural performances of the new beam-slab system in order to decrease the height of floors in high-rise steel structure apartments. Experiments were performed to assess the capacity of the new beam-slab system in a steel structure with 9.8-m span, particulary structural material test, pure bending test of composite beam, three-point bending test of composite beam, and bending and shearing tests. Results showed that the suggested composite beam had stable structural behavior when stud connectors were located in the upper flange, and upper bars were calculated normally according to the design of the slab.

Fuzzy Hybrid Control of a Smart TMD for Reduction of Wind Responses in a Tall Building (초고층건물의 풍응답제어를 위한 스마트 TMD의 퍼지 하이브리드제어)

  • Fuzzy hybrid control technique with a smart tuned mass damper(STMD) was proposed in this study for the suppression of wind-induced motion of a tall building. To develop the effective control algorithm for a STMD, skyhook and groundhook control algorithms were employed. Usually, skyhook controller can effectively reduce STMD motion and groundhook controller shows good control performance for the reduction of building responses. In this study, fuzzy hybrid controller, which can determine an optimal weighting factor for combining two controllers in real time, was developed to improve the control performance of conventional hybrid controller using weighted sum approach. A 76-story office building was used as an example structure to investigate the performance of the proposed controller. A magnetorheological(MR) damper was used to develop a STMD and the control performance of STMD was evaluated comparing with the passive and active TMD. The numerical studies show that the control effectiveness of a STMD is significantly superior to that of the conventional TMD. It is also shown that fuzzy hybrid controller can effectively adjust skyhook and groundhook control algorithms and reduce both responses of STMD and building.

Contamination structure and process on SUS 316 under UHV, HV and air (초고진공, 고진공, 대기압에서 SUS 316의 오염 구조와 오염 과정 연구)

  • The contamination structure and process on SUS 316 under various exposure conditions were investigated using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The metal-oxide, metal-H-oxides, CO, COH, and $C_xH_y$ are the main components of contaminants on the SUS surface. The compositional profiles of the contaminants are shown to be $C_xH_y$/CO(COH)/metal-oxide on SUS. The contamination proceeds in two steps. The oxidation of the metallic constituents followed by adsorption of hydrocarbons. Under UHV conditions the contamination is mainly due to the oxidation, and, as the exposure time increases, the oxidation continues. In HV or higher pressure, most of the oxides are formed almost immediately after exposure and as the exposure time increases the contamination of hydrocarbons continues to grow. For the SUS sample exposed to atmosphere, the metal oxide is distributed deep inside the surface with an exponentially decreasing concentration, and its thickness is nearly in the order of photoelectron mean free path. It is also seen that the Fe oxide is segregated over Cr oxide in the highly oxidized samples.

  • Recent building structures are superior in its ability but they are light weight and long span, and so have problems of vibration. In general, the serviceability of RC slabs was known to be good against vibration because of its hardness. However, recent high-rise apartment slabs are mostly light and long, the serviceability of RC slabs due to vibration could be a problem. In this paper, a basic investigation about vibration problems of RC slabs was performed. Basic information and its influence on vibrations of RC slabs were revealed. Also, its serviceability against vibration was examined. Many tests were conducted for natural frequency of building, for example load of two persons walking and one person leaping etc.

  • In this paper, a practical control method of wind-induced vibration of high-rise buildings is presented in the form of resizing algorithm. In the structural design process for high-rise buildings, the lateral load resisting system for the building is more often determined by serviceability design criteria including wind-induced vibration level. Even though many drift method have been developed in various forms, no practical design method for wind induced vibration has been developed so far. Structural engineers rely upon heuristic or experience in designing wind induced vibration. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated by comparing wind-induced vibration levels estimated both from approximate techniques and wind tunnel test.
