The purpose of this study was to show the detection of the head movement within relatively the posture function. An analysis of the posture function was inquired a displacement that the ranges of stance direction showed generally a variation across all condition through the head movement. CNS condition (C_RL-MIN-AVG) was verified slightly greater variation at $0.226{\pm}0.04$ units. Somatosensory condition (So_$RL-_{MIN-AVG}$) was verified slightly greater variation at $0.939{\pm}0.46$ units. Vestibular condition (Ve_$RL-_{MIN-AVG}$) was verified slightly greater variation at $4.009{\pm}1.05$ units. Vision condition (Vi_$RL-_{MIN-AVG}$) was verified greater variation at $8.336{\pm}4.05$ units. When the movement head of vision characteristic function was presented a diminutive variance. On the CNS characteristic condition of the movement head function was presented a diminutive variance.

Backgroud : The generators of N37 and P37 of posterior tibial nerve somatosensory evoked potential(PTSEP) have not been exactly known. Recently, some reports suggested that P37 and N37 might have different generator. We conducted a study to know the generators of P37 and N37 of PTSEP using gating mechanism. Methods : We evaluated subcortical and cortical somatosensoy evoked potentials(SEPs) in response to posterior tibial nerve stimulation in 3 experimental conditions of foot movement and compared them with PTSEPs in full relaxation of foot. The experimental conditions were: (a) active flexion-extention of stimulated foot, (b) isometric contraction of the stimulated foot, (c) passive flexion-extention of the stimulate foot. We analyzed the latencies and amplitudes of following potentials; P30, N37, P37, and N50. Results : The amplitude of P30 potential did not change during at any paradigms. The amplitudes of P37 and N50 were significantly attenuated in all condition. However, the amplitude of N37 showed no significant change during at any paradigms. Conclusions : These results suggest that the generators of P37 and N37 of PTSEP be different in cortex.
Although somatosensory evoked potentials(SSEPs) have been utilized as the useful diagnostic tools in evaluating the wide variety of pathological conditions, such as focal lesions affecting the somatosensory pathways, demyelinating diseases, and detecting the clinically occult abnormality, their neural generators is still considerably uncertain. To appreciate the basis for uncertainties about the origins of SSEPs, consider criteria that must be met to establish a causal relationship between activity in a neural structure and a spine/ scalp-recorded potential. Electrode locations and channel derivations for SSEPs recordings are based on two principles:(1) the waveforms are best recorded from electrode sites on the body surface closest to the presumed generator sources along the somatosensory pathways, and(2) studies of the potential-field distribution of each waveform of interest dictate the best techniques to be used. In this article, authors will describe followings focused on ;(1) the concepts of near field potentials(NFPs) and far field potentials(FFPs) - the voltage of NFPs is highly dependent upon recording electrode position, FFPs are unlike NFPs in that they are widely distributed, their latencies and amplitudes are independent of recording electrode.(2) appropriate montage settings to detect the significant potentials in the median nerve and posterior tibial nerve SSEPs(3) neural generators of various potentials(P9, N13, P14, N18, N20, P37) and their clinical significance in interpretating the results of SSEPs. Especially, Characteristics of N18(longduration, small superimposed inflection) suggested that N18 is a complex wave with multiple generators including brainstem structures and thalamic nuclei. And N18 might be used as the parameter of braindeath. Precise understanding on these facts provide an adequate basis utilizing SSEPs for numerous clinical purposes.

Rieger syndrome is a rare, autosomal dominant genetic disorder characterized by malformation of the anterior chamber of the eye(goniodysgenesis) coincident with hypodontia. It may also be accompanied by a spectrum of dental, craniofacial and somatic anomalies. Mutations in paired-like homeodomain transcription factor2(PITX2) are associated with the syndrome, and its frequency in the general population has been estimated to be 1 : 200,000. In the present case, the patient, 4 year 7 month-old female, had posterior embryotoxon and polycoria. The maxilla was retrusive in cephalometric radiography. She had congenital missing on #52, #62 and some tooth germs of permanent tooth were not detected in panoramic radiography. The purpose of this paper is to report the dental and craniofacial findings and review the pertinent literature through this case.
Though new body movement based input system immerged in Virtual Reality (VR), VR still has a visually induced motion sickness (VIMS) problem to be accepted for users. VIMS are caused by changes in visually perceived movement that discord with vestibular system's sense of movement. Not only Head-body movements, but also hand gestures to make commands and torso movement can affect visual movement perception by enhancing immersion and its psychological product; presence. The question arises does whole body movement and hand gesture to make commands are more dominant to arousal, presence, and VIMS? To address this question, we conducted "2 (IV1; head-body movements only vs. whole body movements) * 1" between subject design experiment. The results showed that significant effect on whole body movements and arousal, marginally significant effect on presence. Eyewear usage was a moderator between hand gesture and presence relationship.

As changed the clinical environment, the interest on u-Healthcare service and systems has been increased. The ubiquitous healthcare(u-Healthcare) systems are constructed at the integrated environment that consists of various devices and systems basically such as personal health devices(PHDs) measuring body signals, information aggregators gathering the data transmitted from PHDs through wireless technology, and health information systems storing and managing personal health information transmitted from the information aggregators. International standards such as IEEE 11073 and HL7 have been specified for the interoperability of PHDs and health information systems, but the research on u-Healthcare systems that were developed and applied in the real clinical environment by adopting the standards was rarely conducted. Therefore, we developed an u-Healthcare system which can manage personal health information, such as blood glucose, blood pressure, and body composition, based on health information exchange standards. Moreover, we verified the stability of the developed system through clinical trial in patients with endocrine disease at the Kyungpook National University Hospital, and listed problems occurred during clinical trial and found their solutions.

The purpose of this study was to investigate how the modulation method affects the effectiveness of eliciting tactile sensations by electrical stimulation. Two methods were employed and the results were compared and analyzed; pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) and pulse width modulation (PWM). Thirty-five healthy subjects participated in the experiments to measure the stimulation intensity that began to elicit a tactile sensation - activation threshold (AT). Constant-current monophasic rectangular pulse trains were employed, and the stimulation intensity was varied from zero until the subject felt any uncomfortable sensation. The step size of the stimulation intensity was 100nC/pulse. After each experiment, the subject described the sensation both quantitatively and qualitatively. The two modulation methods did not make a significant difference as far as the AT values were concerned, but most of the subjects showed 'intra-individual' consistency. Also, it was confirmed that our range of the stimulation parameters enabled us to obtain three major tactile sensations; tickling, pressure and vibration. The results suggested that the stimulation parameters and the modulation type should be selected for each individual and that selective electrical stimulation of the mechanoreceptors needs more diversified researches on the electrode design, multi-channel stimulation protocol, waveforms of the pulse train, etc.
