These objectives of this study were to compute heavy metal and accumulation carbon dioxide fixing quantity from urban green space(street trees and urban parks) in Cheong-ju city and Chungju-city and thus to estimate the effect of urban green space for improving the urban environment. The results are summarized below. 1. Results of the total accumulation of the carbon dioxide fixing quantity of street trees, Cheong-ju city and Chungju-city street tree was 1, 230,000kg-C, 1,270,000 kg-C, respectively. Total accumulation carbon dioxide fixing quantity of Balssan urban park had a 25,000kg-C in Cheong-ju city, Degami sports park had a 6,400kg-C in Chungju-city. 2. Results of heavy metal for street trees, fell in the order Zn > Cu > Cr > Ni >, the highest accumulated heavy metal was Zn, and the lowest was Ni. Total heavy metal concentration according to land-use area, was observed in order, for residental areas(157.26 mg/kg) > industrial areas(141.71 mg/kg) > commercial areas(118.55 mg/kg) > and greenspace areas(61.95 mg/kg) in Cheong-ju city. 3. Total heavy metal concentration for street trees fell in the order of commercial areas(84.48 mg/kg) > residental areas(83.70 mg/kg) > and greenspace(48.23 mg/kg) according to land-use area in Chungju-city. Comparatively, Cheong-ju city had more total heavy metal concentration than Chungju-city. 4. Heavy metal for soil that planted street trees was observed in order of Zn > Cu > Pb( > Ni > Cr > As > Cd), and Zn was highest, and Cd was lowest. Total heavy metal concentration for soil fell in the order commercial area(91.82mg/kg) > industrial area(85.96mg/kg) > residental area(67.55mg/kg) > greenspace(43.13mg/kg) according to land-use area in Cheong-ju city. 5. Heavy metal for soil that planted street trees was observed in order of Zn > Pb > Cu( > Ni > Cr > As > Cd, and Zn was highest. Total heavy metal concentration for soil fell in the order commercial area(87.66mg/kg) > greenspace(72.73mg/kg) $${\geq_-}$$ residental area(70.10mg/kg) in Chungju-city.

오늘날 도시는 인간 중심적으로 환경을 고려하지 않은 채 개발위주의 발전이 계속되고 있으며 도시화가 진행됨에 따라 도심지에 콘크리트와 아스팔트의 비율이 증가하고 농경지와 녹지가 감소하는 등 도시주변의 피복 변화가 빠르게 일어나고 있다. 이와 같이 열 환경을 고려하지 않은 도시의 급성장은 각종 인공 열과 대기오염 물질의 증가와 함께 도시상공의 기온을 상승시켜 도시의 기온이 주변 지역보다 높아지는 열섬현상의 원인이 되고 있다. 이에 따라 최근 미국, 유럽 등의 선진국을 비롯하여 아시아지역에서도 도시열섬현상 대책수립이 활발히 진행되어오고 있으며 국내에서도 열섬완화 대책 수립의 중요성이 인식되고 있다. 그러나 자연토지피복은 농경지, 나지, 수면과 같은 다양한 종류의 피복으로 구성되며 각 피복특성에 따라 도시내부에 영향을 미치는 정도가 다르게 나타나므로 도시계획에 반영될 수 있는 자연피복의 종류와 피복비율의 적정조합을 도출할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 청주시를 대상으로 농경지를 포함하는 녹지의 감소, 공업단지의 증가에 따른 열 환경 영향을 분석하기 위하여 청주시의 연도별 토지피복 분포 현황과 과거 기상자료를 통해 토지피복 분포변화에 따른 온도 변화를 조사하였다. 토지피복은 농경지, 녹지, 주거지, 공업 단지 및 수역으로 분류하였으며, 대상지역의 기후 특성 파악을 위하여 청주시 총 면적에 대한 면적비율의 증감추이와 그에 따른 온도 변화를 정량적으로 파악하였다. 그 결과, 청주시는 녹지의 경우 정체 또는 감소추세를 나타낸 반면 공업단지는 지속적인 증가추세를 나타내었다.

본 연구는 청주시에 거주하는 중학교 교원 역통근의 공간적 특성을 밝히고자 한다. 분석 결과 종래 여성의 통근거리가 남성보다 짧고, 거주지 부근의 직장에서 근무한다는 연구 결과는 교원의 경우 적용되지 않는다고 볼 수 있다. 그리고 역통근자의 거주지는 통근시간과 비용을 최소화하기 위해 역통근지에 따라 거주지의 이전이 나타나며, 통근거리가 멀수록 다양한 교통수단을 이용하고 있다는 점이 밝혀졌다.

<직지>가 현존 세계 최고의 금속활자본이라는 사실을 우리나라 사람들 중에서는 모르는 사람이 거의 없을 것이다. 하지만 교과서에서 배운 짧은 지식이 아닌 우리나라의 자랑스러운 기록 유산임을 가슴깊이 갖고 있는 사람들은 드물다. 그렇기 때문에 <직지>의 중요성을 전 국민에게 알리고, 우리의 기록문화가 얼마나 대단한 것인지를 알리기 위해 청주시와 대한인쇄문화협회는 매년 11곳 이상의 지역에서 직지 순회전을 가져왔다. 올해에도 대한인쇄문화협회와 청주시는 11월까지 국내외 13곳에서 <직지순회전>을 개최했고, 12월중으로 대전 한밭도서관에서 2011년 마지막 직지순회전을 개최할 예정이다.

현존하는 세계 최고 금속활자본인 직지심체요절이 탄생한 충북 청주에 인쇄를 테마로 한 전통문화예술거리가 조성된다. 청주시(한범덕 시장)는 고인쇄박물관 일원을 특색 있는 전통문화예술 거리로 조성하기 위해 직지문화특구 마스터플랜을 재검토해 실현가능한 사업을 단기 중기 장기계획으로 진행할 예정이다. 청주시는 2014년까지 금속활자 주조 전시관, 근현대 인쇄전시관, 녹색 쉼터 등을 조성한다.

Many local governments in Korea have competitively shown great interests in establishing and operating public libraries and carried out various projects. With this, an increasing number of local governments have recently established and implemented medium- and long-term development plans for their public libraries, based mostly on the findings from researches committed to the outside experts. Cheongju City has formulated the First Medium- and Long-Term Development Plan for Public Libraries in Cheongju City (2012-2016) in 2011 and the Second Plan (2017-2021) in 2016. The goal of this study is to help accomplish the planned goals of the Second Plan by conducting an interim check on the current state of execution and content of the Second Plan. To reach the research goals, first, we identified the outcome and limitations of the First Plan, as previously carried out. Second, we analyzed the trend in the change of the cultural environments of public libraries in Cheongju City. Third and lastly, we reviewed the promotion strategy and operation outcome of the Second Plan. In particular, this study focused on the expansion of an organizational structure, the reinforcement of professional workforce, and the increase in budgetary support as the core elements required for developing public libraries in Cheongju City.

Many local governments in Korea have competitively interested in founding and operating public libraries and carried out various projects for promoting them. Each local government, however, has focused on increasing the number of public libraries, lacking in an effort to enrich the qualitative substance. The purpose of this study is to suggest medium-term and long-term development plan for public libraries in Cheongju by considering internal and external problems of public libraries, and resent government plans for libraries. To identify this purpose, the study investigated the present founding and operating condition of public libraries in Cheongju. In the second, it suggested the medium-term and long-term strategic plans for public libraries in Cheongju using SWOT analysis. In the third, it also reviewed founding and operating changes of public libraries in Cheongju and Cheongwon which were integrated into one city. Lastly, the methods for organizing and operating public libraries in Cheongju were suggested.
