Capture Simulation Study for Space Debris Using Space-Nets (우주 그물을 이용한 우주 쓰레기 포획 시뮬레이션 연구)

  • This study conducts capture simulations of space debris using a space-net. The present capture simulations are performed using ABAQUS, a nonlinear structural dynamics analysis code. A square space-net with 1 m × 1 m and a space debris with a cube configuration(0.3 m × 0.3 m × 0.3 m and 30 kg) are considered as baseline models. Using the baseline models, the capture simulation using ABAQUS is conducted to understand the capture process and establish the criteria of capture success or fail. In addition, the capture simulations are performed when various properties of the space-net are considered, and it is investigated that major design factors of the space-net are recognized to capture successfully the space debris.

  • One of the important ways to improve the performance of magnetometers in satellite exploration is to reduce magnetic noise from satellites. One of the methods to decrease magnetic noise is by extending the satellite boom. However, this approach is often not preferred due to its high cost and operational considerations. Therefore, in many cases, removing interference from the satellite platform in the measured dataset is widely utilized after data acquisition. In this study, we would like to introduce an algorithm for removing magnetic noise observed from magnetometers installed on two solar panels and one main body without a boom.

  • As the space debris in the satellite orbit increases, the risk of collision between the currently operating satellites and the space debris is continuously increasing. Therefore, in this study, we designed one-degree-of-freedom capture device using simple deployment mechanism. The capture device consists of four link groups connected with net. To increase the reliability, each link group is connected to one driving part so that the total degree of freedom is 1. In addition, the links were stowed on each side of the satellites so that they would not affect the janitor satellite mission. Finally, to confirm the possibility of deployment in the space environment, we carried out deployment experiments in water similar to the microgravity environment, and confirmed the deployment of capture device and the possibility of capturing target satellite.

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the ecological effect of DMZ for development and conservation of this area. Because of the political reason, field research and estimation of the ecological effect using field data is very difficult. Then we carried out the estimation of the ecological effect using Landsat ETM+ and ancillary data of digital maps. Because of military disturbance and agricultural activity of common people, NDVI of DMZ was very low value except the interior area of DMZ. According to the distance of DMZ, the variance of NDVI didn't show the logistic curve. This result has the reason as follows. The developing force at level plane of west and middle area reached to DMZ and we could concluded in that case of east area had been effect of regular cutting for view.

A Study on the Deep Neural Network based Recognition Model for Space Debris Vision Tracking System (심층신경망 기반 우주파편 영상 추적시스템 인식모델에 대한 연구)

  • It is essential to protect the national space assets and space environment safely as a space development country from the continuously increasing space debris. And Active Debris Removal(ADR) is the most active way to solve this problem. In this paper, we studied the Artificial Neural Network(ANN) for a stable recognition model of vision-based space debris tracking system. We obtained the simulated image of the space environment by the KARICAT which is the ground-based space debris clearing satellite testbed developed by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, and created the vector which encodes structure and color-based features of each object after image segmentation by depth discontinuity. The Feature Vector consists of 3D surface area, principle vector of point cloud, 2D shape and color information. We designed artificial neural network model based on the separated Feature Vector. In order to improve the performance of the artificial neural network, the model is divided according to the categories of the input feature vectors, and the ensemble technique is applied to each model. As a result, we confirmed the performance improvement of recognition model by ensemble technique.

  • The year 2021 is a monumental year for the history of Korean cinema that inferiority of the sci-fi genre, by the appearance of two sci-fi blockbuster films- produced by Netflix and produced by TVing-at the same time. Coincidentally, both of movies are sci-fi films which appear post-human such as robot and clone. As can be seen in 『Frankenstein』 story, the progenitor of science fictions, the mankind have imagined beings similar to humen or post-human who are another human being for a long time. deals with the unusual subject matter of a space scavenger and a space janitor, and the main character is a robot that very familiar with human. is the story of a man who lives for a limited life protects and accompanies a clone named Seobok who was created as a test subject. This film deals with the philosophical themes like death and eternal life through the existential concerns of two characters. use Korean Shinpa -Korean specific senimental code-sentiment on narrative, and has the character of a road movie set in Korea's geographical space.
