The Main and Interaction Effects of Control Parenting and Early Adolescents' Ego-Resiliency on Peer Attachment : Focusing on the Data of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2010 (초기 청소년의 또래애착에 대한 부모의 통제적 양육행동과 자아탄력성의 주효과 및 상호작용효과 : 2010 한국아동·청소년패널조사 자료를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among control parenting, early adolescents' ego-resiliency and peer attachment. The subjects were 2,346 1st-year middle school students from all over the country. Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(2010) data were analyzed by means of Pearson's correlation, hierarchical regression, and by the use of SPSS 19.0. The results of our study are as follows. First, parents' control parenting operated as a major determining factor with the effect that peer attachment decreased as parents' control parenting levels increased. Second, early adolescents' ego-resiliency operated as a major determining factor with the effect that peer attachment increased as adolescents' ego-resiliency levels increased. Finally, the interaction effects of parents' control parenting and early adolescents' ego-resiliency on peer attachment were observed.

The effect of parents attachment, socioeconomic status, and perspective-taking on early adolescents' prosocial behavior toward parents and siblings (부모와 형제에 대한 초기청소년의 친사회적 행동에 영향을 미치는 부모애착, 사회경제적 지위 및 조망수용)

  • Data were collected from 310 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students and parents by questionnaires and analyzed by t-test and multiple regression analysis. The higher parents attachment and parents monitoring, the higher prosocial behavior towards parents and siblings, the higher perspective-taking, the higher prosocial behavior towards parents, and the higher socioeconomic status, the higher prosocial behavior towards siblings. More prosocial behavior toward parents was reported by girls than by boys. Prosocial behavior toward siblings did not show a gender difference. In the total group, high parent attachment and perspective-taking predicted prosocial behavior towards parents; high parent attachment and socioeconomic status predicted prosocial behavior towards siblings. In the boy group, high parent attachment and perspective-taking predicted prosocial behavior towards parents; high socioeconomic status predicted prosocial behavior towards siblings. In the girl group, high parent attachment predicted prosocial behavior towards parents and high parent attachment and socioeconomic status predicted prosocial behavior towards siblings. Discussion focused on the relative importance of parents attachment, perspective-taking, and socioeconomic status in predicting early adolescents' prosocial behavior.

Effects of Family Cohesion and Self-Efficacy on School Adjustments in Adolescence (청소년기 학교적응에 대한 가족응집력과 자기효능감의 영향)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 초기~후기 청소년기의 학교적응력을 향상시키기 위하여 이에 영향을 미치는 가족 및 개인 요인과의 관계를 검증하고자 하는 것이다. 보다 구체적으로, 가족요인으로서 가족응집력과 개인요인으로서 자기효능감, 그리고 학교적응 간의 관계에 대한 연구모형을 설정하고 이들 간의 관계를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 2010 한국청소년건강실태조사(Korean Survey on the Health of Youth and Children in 2010)를 통하여 9,844명의 제주도를 제외한 전국 초등학교 4~6학년생과 중 고등학생을 대상으로 수집된 자료에 대하여 구조방정식모형을 이용하여 그 적합도와 주요 변수들 간의 경로의 유의성을 확인하였다. 분석 결과, 본 연구에서 설정된 연구모형의 적합도는 양호한 것으로 나타났으며, 가족응집력은 자기효능감과 학교적응에 각각 정적으로 유의한 영향을 미치며, 자기효능감 역시 학교적응에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 그리고 가족응집력과 학교적응 사이에서의 자기효능감은 통계적으로도 유의한 매개효과를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과에 근거하여 학령기 청소년의 학교적응을 향상시킬 수 있는 개입 방안에 대한 함의를 제시하였다.

Contextual Characteristics and Developmental Functions of Time Spent Alone in Early Adolescence (청소년 초기 혼자 보내는 시간의 맥락적 특성과 발달적 잠재력 탐색)

  • This study investigated contextual characteristics and developmental functions of time spent alone in early adolescence. Participants were 107 6th grade elementary school students. The Experience Sampling Method was used to measure experiences of time spent alone. Findings were that : (1) 2.6% of an early adolescents' daily waking time was involuntarily spent alone and 14.8% was voluntarily spent alone. (2) Psychological states of voluntary time spent alone were more positive than those of involuntary time spent alone, and psychological states of voluntary time spent alone were not significantly different from those of time spent with family members or friends. (3) Experiences during voluntary time spent alone were related to adjustment, suggesting that time spent alone during early adolescence contributes to positive development.

Moderating Effects of Daily Life Activity Experiences on the Relationship between Stress and Violent Behaviors in Early Adolescence (초기 청소년의 스트레스와 폭력행동과의 관계에 대한 일상생활활동 경험의 중재 효과)

  • This study investigated the relationship of daily life activity experiences to violent behaviors and their moderating effects on the relationship between stress and violent behaviors in early adolescence. A sample of 134 second year middle school students carried electronic watches for one week and provided reports on their objective activity situation and subjective states when signalled at random times. Stress was positively correlated with violent behaviors. Daily activity experiences were correlated with violent behaviors and moderated the relationship between stress and violent behaviors. More time spent in socializing and passive leisure, and negative emotional states during schoolwork and active leisure were correlated with higher violent behaviors. Lower motivational states during schoolwork were correlated with higher violent behaviors. Lower cognition of importance and attention states during schoolwork and higher cognition of importance and attention states during active leisure and maintenance activities were correlated with higher violent behaviors. Finally, the moderating effects of negative emotion during active leisure, motivation and attention states during schoolwork on the relationship of stress with violent behaviors were found among girls only.

The Moderating Effect of After-School Caregiver Absence between School Adjustment and Mobile Phone Dependency in Early Adolescence (초기청소년의 학교적응과 휴대전화 의존도간의 관계에서 방과후 보호자부재의 조절효과)

  • This study examined the role of after-school caregiver absence in the relationship between school adjustment and mobile phone dependency during early adolescence. Sixth grade students(N=1,863) from the nationally representative Korea Child and Youth Panel Study were analyzed using moderated multiple regression models. The results showed that higher school adjustment may be effective in reducing youth mobile phone dependency. There was also a significant interaction effect between school adjustment and high caregiver absence, indicating that the protective role of school adjustment concerning mobile phone dependency may be less effective among youth of highest risk. Policy implications of the results are also discussed.

Daily Life Activity Experiences and their Relations to Stress in Early adolescence (청소년 초기 일상생활활동 경험의 특성화 스트레스 수준)

  • This study investigated characteristics of daily life activity experiences and their relations to stress in early adolescence. A sample of 134 8th graders carried electronic watches programmed to signal 7 times a day for a week at random times and reported their daily life activity experiences when signaled. Boys spent 33% of their waking hours in schoolwork, 46% in leisure, and 21% in maintenance activities. Girls spent 32% in schoolwork, 43% in leisure, and the other 25% in maintenance. Both boys and girls experienced more positive affect, cognitive, and motivation during leisure, whereas more negative psychological states during schoolwork. The major stress was schoolwork-related. The stress was significantly related to objective and subjective experiences of daily life activity.

  • 초기 청소년기 자녀를 둔 부모는 사춘기에 대한 지식의 부족, 사춘기 자녀의 사고유형에 대한 이해부족, 그리고 세대차이로 인해 자녀양육에 상당한 문제를 지니고 있다. 본 연구는 부모-자녀간의 관계를 개선하고 그들의 건강한 성장과 발달을 돕기 위한 부모교육 프로그램을 개발하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서 개발한 "1315PEP" 프로그램의 구체적인 주제는 부모로서의 자신의 모습 바라보기, 자녀의 세계 이해하기, 인성유형 상호 이해하기, 자녀의 독립과 자율성 격려하기, 훈육기술 익히기, 그리고 문제해결하기 등이다.

The Effects of the Psychological Environment Perceived by Early Adolescents on their Psychosocial Maladjustment (초기 청소년이 지각한 심리적 성장환경이 심리사회적 부적응에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the influence of the psychological environment on the psychosocial maladjustment in early adolescence. This study also examined how the psychological environment influenced early adolescents in internalizing and externalizing their problems. Four hundred and eight students from three middle schools in Seoul participated in this study. The participants were divided into two groups by gender, and their psychological environment and psychosocial maladjustment were measured. The data were analyzed using ANOVA and multiple regression. The results of this study are as follows: Mutual intimacy and respect in the psychological environment affected internalizing and externalizing problems among male students; whereas communication affected internalizing and externalizing problems among female students. Based on this analysis, theoretical basics were presented for educational programs to prevent internalizing and externalizing problems.

  • A 8 year old boy with problems of hyperactivity, impulsivity received playpsychotherapy. Through the detailed examination of their contents and group supervision of play therapy session, common mistakes novice therapist make frequently and tasks in the initial phase of play psychotherapy are illustrated. Therapist's personality and anxiety frequently interferes therapeutic processes. Common mistakes therapist makes during initial phase of play therapy are ; therapist's over-enthusiasm, overinvolvement or non-responsiveness, premature or inappropriate interpretation and direct connection of play theme to reality. It is utmost important for the therapist to make positive and trusting relationship with the patient in the initial phase of the therapy. In order to do so therapist must accept the patient as he is, permit the patient takes his leads. And as a result, the Patient can go through corrected developmental experience. In conclusion, it is a therapist's main task to establish relationship.
