The data from a total of 388 adolescent girls was analyzed by structural equation modeling using the AMOS 20.0 statistics program. First, the level of physical activity affects Internet addiction mediated by self-control. Second, self-control affects Internet addiction and cyber ethnics directly and has an influence on the cyber delinquency mediated by Internet addiction. Third, Internet addiction has direct effects both cyber delinquency and cyber ethnics.

  • Health inequality means health gaps that can be affected adverse effects to the vulnerable groups in a society. Many scholars argue that it is needed social interventions to reduce health gaps between the vulnerable and the privileged in a society, because social inequalities can be caused and resulted health inequality among them. In this context, this article introduces Korean out of school children health check-up as part of the policies to reduce health inequality in the society. For a long time, many out of school children have been alienated from the national health checkup systems. That means they are not only marginalized groups in Korean society, but also excluded from the benefits of health promotion and health management. Many runaway youths are struggling to live by themselves, who are escaped from their families and they don't have enough resources to keep their health. They are also young and low waged workers who are expelled to the streets, while they don't have any support and protection from the communities. Out of school children health checkup has been conducted to the adolescents who stay in the shelters or study in alternative schools. To get meaningful results as the health inequality reduction policy, it is needed to expand out of children health checkup to the runaway teenagers.

  • This study investigates the predictive model of the adolescents' computer entertainment behavior using neural network with the KYPS data (3449 in the junior high school; 1725 boys and 1724 girls). This study compares the results of neural network(model 1) to the logistic regression model and neural network(model 2) with the exact same variables used in logistic regression. The results reveal that the prediction of neural network model 1 is the highest among three models and with gender, computer use time, family income, the number of close friends, the number of misdeed friends, individual study time, self-control, private education time, leisure time, self-belief, stress, adaptation to school, and study related worries, the neural network model 1 predicts the computer entertainment behavior more efficiently. These results suggest that the neural network could be used for diagnosing and adjusting the adolescents' computer entertainment behavior.

  • The purposes of the present study were to investigate the effects of individual, family, and school factors on the onset of adolescents' violence behaviors. For these goals, we applied discrete-time survival analysis to the Korean Youth Panel Survey. According to the estimated hazard function, the likelihood of onset of adolescents' violence behavior was low during elementary school years and increasing sharply from middle school years. Results showed that gender, self-esteem, aggressiveness, broken home, parental abuse, and the number of delinquent friends were significant determinants of the onset of adolescents' violence behaviors. Findings from this study suggest the need to focus on the significant determinants and consider various prevention programs.

  • This study aimed to develop a cognitive-behavioral group counseling program for depression and aggressiveness in adolescents with delinquent propensity and to examine its efficacy through pre- and post-tests. The program included cognitive restructuring, exposure training, social skills training and relaxation training. Juvenile Delinquency Scale, BDI, K-YSR, and BDHI were administered to 520 3rd grade middle-school female students to assess their levels of delinquency, depression and aggressiveness. Initially 41 students who met all the following criteria were selected: 1) top 15% scores on Juvenile Delinquency Scale, 2) top 30% scores on BDI, K-YSR and BDHI respectively. Individuals currently receiving clinical treatment were excluded. Finally 39 students were selected and randomly assigned to either a treatment group(n=20) or a control group(n=19). Then the students in the treatment group were divided into 4 subgroups. The program consisted of 12 weekly sessions, approximately $1.5{\sim}2$ hours in duration. Pre- and post-tests administered to both groups included Juvenile Delinquency Scale, BDI, K-YSR, BDHI, and CLAB. Additionally, MESSY for teachers was added at pre- and post-tests. The collected data were statistically analyzed through independent t-test and paired t-test. The results of the study were as follows: 1) The students in the treatment group showed a significant reduction in the level of depression and aggressiveness in comparison with those in the control group. 2) Teachers reported a significant reduction in internalizing/externalizing behaviors of the students in the treatment group.

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the relationships among the degree of delinquency and clothing buying behavior information search and fashion involvement and to examine the causal relationships of adolescent delinquency demographic variables and fashion involvement on information search. Subjects for this study were 537 high school students(male ; 225, female : 312) in Seoul Korea. the results of the study were as follow. 1. Four factors of adolescent's delinquency derived by factor analysis : F. 1 'general position delinquency' F. 2 'school-norm delinquency' F3. 'personal delinquency' : F.4 'sexual delinquency'. 2. There were partially significant correlations between the degree of adolescent's delinquency and information search and fashion involvement. There were significant relationships between degree of delinquency and degree of clothing purchasing frequency. companion while shopping and source of clothing expenses. 3. In the case of male students fashion involvement and sexual delinquency had a direct effect on information search(R2 =.278) General position delinquency and allowance had a indirect effect on information search through Father's level of education had a direct effect on allowance. the present findings provide that in general the more allowance students received the higher the general position delinquency for both males and females, The higher the general position delinquency the higher the degree of fashion involvement and information search. Therefore it can be concluded that relatively mild delinquency acts such as drinking. smoking and going to discothque have more influence on fashion involvement and information search that serious delinquency acts such as violence and robbery.

To explain the psychosocial stresses of high-risk adolescents in poverty, this study analyzed the inter-relations and interactions of major variables: 1) stress related life condition, 2)individual & environmental resources, 3) emotional, behavioral, and academic adjustment. Data came from the survey of 351 students living in the families receiving public assistance. The major findings were as follows. High-risk adolescents in poverty suffered from chronic stresses related life conditions, including family environmental stress, financial & medical stress and stigmatic stress. As the effects of stress increased, depression/anxiety and delinquency of poor youth increased. The psychosocial adjustment of poor youth at risk was most effected by the stress resulted from family environment. Though they were suffered from stresses related poor environment, adolescents in poverty adjusted well, if they had individual and environmental resources including self-esteem democratic parenting and supportive school climate. In conclusion, this study confirmed that emotional, behavioral, and academic adjustment of adolescents in poverty was affected by various stresses from life conditions and individual and environmental resources. In order to improve adjustment of poor youth at risk, life conditions have to be improved and psychosocial resources to be increased. These findings have provided practical implications for social workers helping high-risk adolescents in poverty.
