The purpose of this study is to compare relationship with friends among adolescents under probation and high school students without any criminal record. A total of 510 respondents (253 adolescents under probation, 257 high school students) participated in this study. Results indicate that both adolescents under probation and high school students reported that they talk to talked to their friends when they were lonely, that they were comfortable when they are with their friends, and that they trusted their friends unconditionally. However, the two groups showed a difference in the place that they meet their friends. Adolescents under probation are likely to meet their friends at Internet Cafe to play internet games, while high school students are likely to meet their friends near their school. Compared to high school students, adolescents under probation had more friends who were expelled from school, who were under probation and who have been previously incarcerated. For adolescents under probation, compared to first time offenders, the repeat offenders were more likely to have friends who were under probation and who have been previously incarcerated. When discriminant analysis were conducted for adolescents under probation and high school students, the two groups can be distinguished by the number of friends expelled from school, number of friends under probation, and number of friends who have been previously incarcerated. For adolescents under probation, compared to first time offenders, the repeat offenders could be distinguished by the number of friends expelled from school, number of friends under probation, number friends who have been previously incarcerated, and number of times their partners in crime were under probation or incarcerated.

This study aimed to analyse the effects of a self-regulation group counselling program on self-esteem and self-control in adolescents on probation. In respect to sub-areas of the effects the self-regulation group counselling program had on self-esteem in adolescents, there were statistically significant differences in general self-esteem, social self-esteem and family self-esteem. Also, there were statistically significant differences in all the areas including impulse control and emotional control as sub-areas of self-control. Such results experimentally showed that the self-regulation group counselling program had a significant effect on self-esteem and self-control in adolescents on probation. Therefore, it is expected that the probability of repeating their crimes will decrease greatly if the subjects have self-esteem and self-control enhanced through the group counselling program. It is suggested further studies on the self-regulation group counselling program and its practical use are needed to enhance self-esteem and self-control in adolescents on probation.
Korea Youth Panel (2008) has 2 panels of the 5th year of Knowledge data to perform statistical analysis and regression analysis, the risk factors in the risk conditions of the family of functional deficits, protective factors, the relationship between the mediating effect of psychological adaptation and protective factors verification mechanisms and the psychological adaptation level it is an objective to analyze the protective factors that protect the high youth. To investigate the differences by frequency analysis and personal characteristics of the analyte's was performed t test using PASW (Predictive Analytics Software) 18.0. And to verify the effect of the parameters is performed rank regression analysis for verification of the effects of protection factors for adaptation. Rather than focusing on youth risk factors in social welfare practice field, focusing on processes and protective factors to reduce the risk factors, it is possible to convert the viewpoint overlooking the youth exposed to risk factors. This study aimed to investigate the effects a strengths-based group counselling program had on self-esteem and career maturity of adolescents under probation. The subjects of the study were female adolescents under probation in Gwangju and were categorized into two groups: experiment group and control group consisting of 15 respectively. As a result, it was discovered that the strengths-based group counselling program had positive effects on enhancement of general and social self-esteem in the subjects while it did not have statistically significant effects on enhancement of family self-esteem. It indicates that positive relationship with parents and recovery of family functions should be encouraged to enhance the family self-esteem. Also, the strengths-based group counselling program had positive effects on planning, self-understanding, career knowledge and career preparation areas relating to career maturity while it did not have statistically significant effects on independence. It shows that to encourage the subjects to be independently prepared for career, family and society should provide more specific support for career guidance. Based on the results above, it was suggested that the strengths-based group counselling program had significant effects on self-esteem and career maturity of the subjects under probation. In conclusion, to encourage adolescents under probation to respect themselves and others, specifically plan their career and grow to be reliable and mature adults, further research on the strengths-based group counselling program is needed and diverse strategies including specific support through mentor service of college students should be developed.
The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating effects of protective factors on the relations between deviant peer's influences and delinquent behaviors in adolescence. To investigate the moderating effects, simple slope and region of significance test based on multiple linear regression(MLR) model were used. This study used data from wave 1-2(2003-2004) of the Korea Youth Panel Survey(KYPS). Results showed that for female adolescents, self-esteem, parent monitoring, and attachment to parent moderated the link between best friend's deviancy and delinquent behaviors. For male adolescents, however, best friend's deviancy and protective factors didn't show any significant moderating effects. These results help clarify the conditions under which exposure to deviant best friends can influence delinquent behaviors in adolescence. Practice and policy implications as well as further research topic were discussed to aid the search for highly effective preventive and treatment interventions.
This study examines factors that influence delinquency among adolescents under probation using indigenous psychological analysis, focusing specifically on parent-child relationship. A total 268 adolescents under probation and their parents and 251 high school students and their parents participated in the two studies. In the first study, qualitative results indicate that both groups of adolescents were most likely to trust their parents than any other person and reason for their trust is reported to be based on blood relationship. Similarly, majority of parents of both groups reported trusting their children because of the blood relationship. Parents hope that their children will be sincere a person and will be able to maintain harmonious social relationship. Parents of adolescents under probation were more likely to report disobedience as being most problematic, whereas parents of high school students were more likely report providing social and financial support for their children's education as being the most difficult. In the second study, structured questionnaires were administered to the four groups and the following set of results were obtained. First, in terms of family background, the socio-economic status of adolescents under probation was lower, they are less likely to live with both parents or natural parents, and more likely to have ran away from home than high school students. Second, adolescents under probation are less likely to trust their parents and more likely to view their parents as being hostile. Third, parents of adolescents under probation were less likely to trust their children, more likely to view their relationship as being conflictual and hostile, and feel that they had to sacrifice for their children when compared with parents of high school students. Implications of these results for parent-child relationship and delinquency are discussed.
This article compares the psychological and behavioral profiles of adolescents on probation and high school students. A total of 253 adolescents on probation and 257 high school students completed an open-ended questionnaire developed by the present researchers and structured questionnaire that assessed moral disengagement and self-efficacy developed by Bandura (1995), delinquent behavior and academic achievement. Adolescents on probation reported that they engaged in delinquent behavior due to the fault of others and they were angry for being forced to be on probation. They are not likely to take responsibility and morally disengage from their delinquent actions. When compared to high school students, adolescents on probation are likely to report low self-efficacy, low academic grade, and less likely to feel proud of themselves. They are more likely to meet their friends in Internet and video game rooms and less likely to focus on academic achievement. Results of ANCOVA indicate that adolescents on probation have higher scores on moral disengagement, social efficacy, but lower score on efficacy for self-regulated learning. They are more likely to run away from home and have lower academic grade. The results of the discriminant analysis indicate that running away from home, social efficacy and moral disengagement are predictive of adolescents on probation and academic achievement and efficacy for self-regulated learning are predictive of high school students.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the advertising regulations for juvenile protection, find their problems and suggest the alternatives for their improvements. All media products harmful to juveniles including advertising are regulated by the Juvenile Protection Act. The regulations related with advertising for juvenile protection of the Special Act on Safety Control of Children's Dietary Life, the Broadcasting Advertising Review Regulations and the National Health Improvement Act were analyzed. The results were: 1)the weaknesses of the implementation of the regulations with lack a little consistency and a lack of objectivity; 2)the necessity of the newly established articles with the times; and 3) the urgency of the establishment of alcohol advertising regulations. In conclusion, it has been suggested that the integrated advertising regulations or guidelines by the unitary review board should be implemented.
