Electrical and optical properties of Indium Zinc Tin Oxide thin films deposited by RF magnetron sputtering (RF magnetron sputtering에 의해 증착된 Indium Zinc Tin Oxide 박막의 전기적, 광학적 특성.)

  • 투명전도막은 FPD의 전자부품에서 전극으로 널리 사용되고 있으며 현재 대부분의 투명전도막으로는 ITO가 사용되고 있다. 하지만, ITO에 사용되는 In은 희유금속으로 지속적인 사용량 증가로 가격의 급등과 더불어 수급 불안정으로 인해 In을 대체하고자 하는 연구가 집중적으로 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 $In_2O_3$를 대체한 ZnO계 등은 비저항이 높아 대체 적용이 가능하지 못하고 있다. 이에 In의 양을 줄이면서 상대적으로 저가이면서 광학적 특성이 우수한 ZnO을 첨가하여 기존의 ITO에 상응하는 전기전도도와 광투과율을 얻을 수 있는 새로운 3성분계 TCO 에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구그룹은 $In_2O_3$을 기본 조성으로 하는 $In_2O_3-ZnO-SnO_2$계를 선정하여 IZTO target을 제조 후 RF magnetron sputtering 방법으로 투명전도막을 제작하였다. 본 연구에서는 RF 파워와 동작압력, 동작시간 그리고 열처리온도의 증착 조건에 따른 IZTO 박막의 특성을 평가하였다. 박막의 특성 및 표면 미세구조를 관찰하기 위해 AFM(Atomic Force Microscope)을 이용하였으며, XRD(X-ray diffraction)을 이용하여 결정성을 분석하였고, 4 point-prove, Hall effect measurement와 UV/Visible spectrometer를 통해 전기적, 광학적 특성을 평가하였다.

Preparation and Characterization of Thiolate-Protected Gold Nanoparticles Using Modified One-Phase Method (개선된 단일상 합성법을 이용한 티올화 나노 금의 합성 및 확인)

  • One-phase method to prevent the initial formation of Ag(I) thiolate layered materal from the mixture of $AgNO_3$ and thiols was previously developed to generate TP (Thiolate-Protected)-nanosilver. In this modified method, $AgNO_3$ is added to the mixtures of $NaBH_4$ and thiols in ethanol. This method was so successful that it was applied to synthesize TP-nanogold and nanoplatinum. The synthesis and characterization of these nanoparticles by ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) absorption spectra, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) pictures, X-ray powder differaction (XRD) patterns and infrared(IR) spectra are described. The results show that colloidal nanoparticles are spherical or oval shape and the mean sizes for TP-nanogold and nanoplatinum are about 3~7 nm and below 2 nm, respectively. The conformation of polymethylene [$-(CH_2)_7-$] sequence in octanethiolate attached to nanogold was elucidated as trans.

Potentiometric Determination of Postssium Ion Using 15-Crown-5 Derivatives with Anthracene for the Selective Material (안트라센을 포함하는 15-Crown-5 유도체를 이온선택성 물질로 이용한 칼륨이온의 전위차법 정량)

  • Newly synthesized 15-Crown-5 derivatives including anthracene were used as neutral carriers for ion selective electrodes to determine potassium ion by potentiometry. Among the five neutral carriers studied in this work, N-(4'-benzo-15-crown-5-ether)-anthracene-9-imine was found to be the best in terms of selectivity and stability. The optimal composition of ion selective membrane was 1.0, 33.0 and 66.0 wt% for neutral carrier, PVC and plasticizer, resperctively. Addition of KTpCIPB used as a lipophilic additive improved the Nernst slope and the selectivity of potassium ion over alkali and alkaline earth metals. Especially, the selectivity of potassium ion over ammonium ion was remarkably good ($logK^{pot}_(K^+,NH_4^+}$=-2.59). The response time was also excellent ($t_{100}$=5sec) and continuous use of this electrode for three weeks has not changed the selectivity and analytical characteristics.

  • Asphalt concrete pavements are susceptible to deformation and failure compared to cement concrete pavements. Epoxy is commonly used to enhance the bonding and durability of structures. Based on this concept, an epoxy and ceramics combined mixture was developed and applied to the field to estimate the pavement performance, Laboratory and field performance tests were conducted to observe the applicability of epoxy and ceramics composite materials compared to the conventional one. In this research, the epoxy and ceramics composite mixturewas used in two ways. 7 mm and 15 mm of thin surface layers using the mixture were constructed on cement and asphalt concrete pavements, respectively, after surface treatment. 12 months of field performance surveys were conducted to observe the resistances to the crack and deformation. According to the field performance tests, epoxy and ceramics combined mixture showed better bonding and field performances than the conventional one.

  • We investigated the electrical properties of copolymer low-k materials that are compromised of the PMSSQ(Poly Methyl Silsesquioxane)-based matrix with the BTMSE (Bis Tri Methoxy Silyl Ethane) additives. We manufactured MIS-type test samples using the copolymer as the insulator and measured their leakage current and failure time by means of the BTS (bias-temperature-stress) test. The failure time was observed to decrease drastically when the porosity of the copolymer was increased over $30\%$. From the measurement of failure time with respect to temperature. the activation energy of Cu drift through the copolymer was calculated to be 1.51 eV.

  • The optimal conditions are obtained for the decomposition of solid radioactive wastes, including ion exchange resin, zeolite, active charcoal, and sludge from nuclear power plant. In the process of decomposing the radioactive wastes were used the microwave acid digestion method with mixed acid. The solution after acid digestion by the following method was colorless and transparent. Each solution was analyzed with ICP-AES and AAS and the recovery yield for 5 different elements added the simulated radioactive wastes were over 94%. As an effective pre-treatment, the proposed microwave acid digestion conditions concerning the chemical trait of each radioactive waste are expected to be generally applied to above-mentioned radioactive wastes from nuclear power plant hereafter.

The Leaching and Recovery of Au from Scrap of PCBs (PCBs의 스크랩으로부터 Au 용출과 회수)

  • This study was carried out to find an environmental friendly and effective way to leach Au and Ag from scrap of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) using sodium-hypochlorite solution. In an EDS analysis, valuable metals such as Cu, Sn, Sb, Al, Ni, Pb and Au were all found in PCBs. The highest leaching rates obtained were 1% of pulp density with a chlorine:hypochlorite of 2:1 and a concentration of NaCl at 2M. The highest Au recovery was observed with the addition of sodium metabisulfite to make a 3M solution. It is confirmed that the leaching agent (chlorine-hypochlorite) could effectively leach Au and Ag from Printed Circuit Boards (scrap parts) and the additive reagent sodium metabisulfite could easily precipitate Au from the chlorine-hypochlorite solution.

  • The leaching behavior of heavy metal ions with pH and colloid/interface property was analyzed by ICP and SEM. The heavy metals in EAF dust are 'amphoteric metal' and the heavy metal ions leached a little at pH 10. And the leaching concentrations of heavy metals at pH 12 were higher than the that at pH 8. The leaching concentrations of heavy metal ion were decreased with adding the clay to the EAF dust. Especially, the leaching concentrations of heavy metal ion were effectively decreased at pH 12. The observation of colloid/interface properties shows that the soluble silicon hydroxide from clay at pH 12 was precipitated at the surface of the heavy metal and clay particles. This silicon hydroxide precipitates were named the PSHP. The leaching concentrations of heavy metal ion were effectively decreased by the formation of PSHP when adding the clay to the EAF dust and controlling the pH of the slurry at 12.

  • Silicon nitride is hard and tough ceramic material. Hereby, mechanical machinability is very poor. It has also high electrical resistance. Silicon nitride of extremely high electrical resistivity becomes conductive ceramic composite by adding 30 wt% TiN. Ceramics with high electrical conductivity can be electrical discharge machined. Using by the Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) technique. $Si_3N_4-TiN$ ceramic composite with high electrical conductivity is utilized to make metal working tool. These tool materials have severe wear problem as well as oxidation. Post HIP processing after sintering $Si_3N_4-TiN$ ceramic composites was performed. The tribological property of $Si_3N_4-TiN$ composite as a function of content of TiN was investigated in air, at room temperature. The hardness, fracture toughness, and flexural strength were compared with the wear volume. SEM observation of wear tracks can make an explanation of wear mode of $Si_3N_4-TiN$ composite.

  • A marine bacterium with highly effective agar degrading activity was ioslated from the southern sea of Korea (Chonnam, YoChon) and identified as Cytophaga sp. and named as Cytophaga sp. AYK301. This strain produced an extracellular agarase which had a high activity with agar. The optimum culture conditions for the production of agarase have been determined. For the increase of agarase productivity, 0.2% agar, 0.3% beef extract, and 0.05% NH$_4$NO$_3$ were used as carbon, organic and inorganic nitrogen source, respectively. The optimal initial pH, NaCl, culture time and temperature for the agar degrading activity were 7.5, 7.0%, 36 hr and $25^{\circ}C$, respectively. In the optimal conditions, the agarase production was increased up to more than 4.0 folds as compared to that by the basal medium.
