  • The Energy Management System (EMS) communicates with power plants and substations, monitors the substations and plant operational status of the transmission and substation system for stability, continuity, real-time, and economy of power supply, and controls power plants and substations. Currently, the power exchange EMS communicates with power plants and substations based on the serial communication-based Distributed Network Protocol (DNP) 3.0 protocol. However, problems such as the difficulty of supply and demand of serial communication equipment and the lack of installation space for serial ports and modems are raised due to the continuous increase in new facilities to perform communication, including renewable power generation facilities. Therefore, this paper presents a TCP/IP-based communication method instead of the existing serial communication method of the power exchange EMS, and presents a security risk analysis that may occur due to changes in the communication method and a countermeasure to the security risk.

  • The removal efficiencies by elastic fire gas mask of toxic gases CO, HCl, HCN, and $SO_2$ produced by a fire have a key role in saving lives. The elastic fire gas mask comprises a visible window, elastic hood, gas purification canister, and air vent. It does not have hair or neck thongs, which makes it easy to use and put on quickly. This research examined the removal efficiency of toxic gases by such a mask. The removal efficiencies for CO with a background concentration of 2505.0 ppm were 99.99 and 99.98% after 3.5 and 8.5 min, respectively. The residual CO concentration was drastically increased after 8.5 min. The removal efficiencies for HCl, HCN, and $SO_2$ with background concentrations of 1003.0, 399.0, and 100.3 ppm, respectively, were 100% after 20 min.

  • Tertomotide is a peptide vaccine developed for anti-cancer therapy. Since it has been found to ameliorate inflammatory symptoms in animal studies and clinical test, we investigated anti-inflammation activity of the tertomotide and the mechanism of action in monocyte in order to assess if tertomotide may serve as an anti-inflammatory agent by checking inflammatory cytokines and related signaling pathway following tertomotide treatment. We found that tertomotide reduced the level of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-8 in LPS- or PMA-stimulated monocyte cell line and suppressed NF-κB signaling including the activation of ERK1/2 and P38 MAPK following TNF-α treatment. These results may correlate to the beneficial findings in animal studies, implicating that tertomotide may act as a potential anti-inflammatory agent. This study is an exemplary case for convergence that a computationally designed peptide for immunological purpose exerting unexpected biological activity may elicit novel anti-inflammatory drug.

  • Tertomotide is a peptide fragment of hTert and developed as a vaccine targeting cancer. It has been reportedly known to ameliorate inflammatory symptoms in clinical tests and in animal studies. However, the therapeutic potential of tertomotide is not supposed to be comparable to conventional anti-inflammatory agents due to low druglikeness In order to treat inflammations present in varous lesion, the structure of tertomotide is required to be modified. In this context, 12 octapeptides were designed based on tertomotide and screened for the anti-inflammatory activity in activated monocyte by measuring TNF-α secretion. As a result, some octapeptides has been exerted anti-inflammatory activity, comparable to or better than tertomotide and estradiol, known anti-inflammatory agents. This result is supposed to be helpful for developing therapeutic purpose exploiting other tertomotide-derived peptides and would be an example for designing novel drug based on active biomolecules with undesirable structure by convergence study of biology and computer-aided medicinal chemistry.

The Old Women Prostitutes Serving the Old Men: A Research on the Actual Condition of 'Bacchus Azumma' and the Basic-Setting of the Elderly Counseling Process (노인을 대상으로 하는 성매매 피해 여성 연구: '박카스 아줌마' 실태 조사 및 노인상담적 접근)

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore the actual condition of the old women prostitutes serving the old men (so-called 'Bacchus Azumma') in qualitative research and to suggest the elderly counseling process for the old women prostitutes. For this, 10 old women prostitutes, aged 53~71, were interviewed as research participants. The data obtained through the depth interviews were analyzed using a qualitative analytic method. As a result, four types of the old women prostitutes according to prostitution inducing forms and motives are found: Inducing-Living type, Re-inducing-Living type, Re-inducing-Playing type, Re-inducing-Forced type. It is essential for each traumatized prostitute to be treated according the degrees of their trauma(PTSD) in the elderly counseling.

  • This is the second research to explore the actual condition of the old women prostitutes serving the old men (so-called 'Bacchus Azumma') in qualitative method. For this, 14 old women prostitutes, aged 38~73, were interviewed as research participants: 9 are korean and 4 are korean-chinese and 1 is chinese. The data obtained through the depth interviews were analyzed using a qualitative analytic method. As a result, three types according to the purpose of approach (heavy petting-intent type, intercourse-intent type, and criminal-intent type) and two types according to occupation or not (full-time type and part-time type) are found. The social concerns and measures on Bacchus Azumma are needed.

  • The academic information system of a university is the core system of the university, and since it has to manage all the various activities in the university, such as student academic records, it becomes complicated every year and the data increases indiscriminately. As a result, the reliability of the data of the academic information system is lowered, which causes communication problems with users and may cause a major failure in the system. Therefore, in this paper, column attribute analysis, allowable value list analysis, string pattern analysis, date type analysis, and unique value analysis methods were designed for the academic information system using the data profiling technique of data quality management. In the implementation stage, the script was implemented using the above five analysis methods, and by executing the script, errors by type of the academic information system were found, the cause of the error was found and corrected inside the system, and the probability of internal system failure was lowered.

  • IPM bridge was developed to revise the problems of IAB bridge by Nam et al, (2016). This research conducted the p-y analysis to examine the parameter traits among the protruded length (H), penetrated length (L) of pile bent and soil conditions. From the results, the maximum bending moment happened in the top segment of pile bent, because it is integrated to the upper structure. Also, the maximum shear force was shown in the boundary of the sand and weathered soil zones according to the analysis soil conditions. The maximum member force and unbraced length is converged when the ratio (L/H) of protruded length (H) and penetrated length (L) is 1.0. The larger material force is happened, if the pile bent is penetrated shallowly compared to the protruded length. The definite inflection points were shown in the horizontal displacement curve from the p-y analysis, also the smaller penetrated length made the curve grade slower.

  • The fractional anisotropy value of the brain white matter region was analyzed by Tract-Based Spatial Statics(TBSS) method after acquiring the diffusion tensor image to identify the presence or absence of brain white matter damage to smoking in male. As a result, smokers showed lower fractional anisotropy than non-smokers in all areas but fractional anisotropy values were not statistically significant. the fractional anisotropy value, on the other hand, was statistically significant only for the right choroid plexus. In other words smoking, although, does not significantly affect the micro structural changes of brain white matter, it affects the choroid plexus area.

S. textiles and apparel industry to focus increasingly on the consumer as a way to meet these challenges. The industry began expanding into mass customization that used information technology, flexible processes, and organizational structures to deliver a wide range of products and services that met specific needs of individual customers but on a mass scale. This paper presents cases of leading-edge technology application on customization and breakthrough concepts in personalization, with a view to raising the level of debate on these issues to its highest level.
