  • The breakdown Process in large gaps is greatly influenced by the gap geometry. Therefor full scale test are essential for the economical and reliable air insulation design. For switching surge design of 765 kV double circuit transmission line KEPRI is carrying the verifying tests using impulse voltage generator at Gochang test site. In this paper, the intermediate results of verifying tests are presented and the switching surge design criteria of 765 kV transmission tower flashover paths are discussed.

  • There were two transmission tower collapses due to Typhoon 'Maemi' in 2003. The reason that a collapse was happened was excessive wind load. One was buckled in the leg part and the other was buckled in the middle bracing part. To investigate a steel transmission tower failure mechanism, 2nd order nonlinear analysis should be performed. Considering the effect of initial imperfection and theresidual stress of angle section during nonlinear analysis, this study can estimate the ultimate strength and the ultimate behavior of the transmission tower.

  • In case of a line-to-ground fault at transmission lines, a portion of fault current will flow into the earth through the footings of the faulted tower causing electrical potential rise nearby the faulted tower footings. In this situation, any buried pipelines or structures nearby the faulted tower can be exposed to the electrical stress by earth potential rise. Although many research works has been conducted on this phenomena, there has been no clear answer of the required separation distance between tower footings and neary buried pipeline because of its dependancy on the soil electrical charactersics of the concerned area and the faulted system. In this paper, an analytical formula to calculate the requried sepeartion distance from the faulted tower has been derived.

소형선박 계류부표 개발에 관한 기본설계 연구

  • 계선표지는 특수목적항로표지의 하나로 해양경찰에서는 "연안해역 거점감시를 위하여 해양경찰청 소속의 경비함정의 계선을 목적으로 설치하는 부표"라고 정의한다. 현재 덕적도 외 33기의 계류부표를 해양경찰에서 운영하고 있으며, 150ton 이하의 소형해경함정을 계류시키는데 사용하고 있다. 그러나 부표의 유지관리가 어려워 관리자에게 감시업무 이외에 과중한 업무가 부가되고, 부표의 철탑구조물의 형태로 인해 작업 중 안전사고가 많이 발생하고 있다. 또한 표체가 철재로 이루어져 있어 해경함정 계류시 부표 및 함정의 충돌에 의한 손상이 발생하여 유실되거나 침몰하는 경우도 있다. 이 논문에서는 현재 해양경찰 계류부표를 기준으로 하여 현재 소형선박을 위한 계류부표 분석 및 최적화된 계류부표 설계하고자 한다. 국외 특수용도 사용부표 사례 분석 및 현재 관리자의 해양경찰의 의견을 수렴을 통해 현재 계류부표의 운영현황 및 관리 실태를 분석하고 최적화된 새로운 계류부표의 기본설계를 제시한다.

  • This paper describes the lightning arrester transients in cable head termination. The installation references of cable head tower and lightning arresters are firstly reviewed, then the performance of lightning arrester operation is also evaluated based on lightning overvoltage analysis by the change of grounding lead cable length. This paper finally proposes the optimal length of grounding lead cable at the cable head termination. The limited lightning current is also proposed according to the change of grounding lead cable length. The results will contribute to protecting insulation breakdown failure against lightning surge at the terminations and joints.

  • 신설 선로와 기존 선로와의 계통 연계시 상 배치에 따라 연계 후 정상상태에서 과다한 영상전류의 발생으로 인하여 지락계전기의 동작 같은 계통에 악 영향을 미치는 현상이 일어난다. 이 논문은 새로운 계통연계 시 송전선로의 기설된 철탑을 이용한 역상배치 시행여부에 따른 실 계통을 해석하고 계통의 상시 불평형률을 간의 선로 신설 공사와 관련하여 분석하여, 이상적인 송전선로 상 배열을 제시한다.

  • Footing Resistance of a 154 kV transmission towers in korea is commonly required to be less than 15 ohm to avoid lightning back-flashover accident. The periodic measurement of Footing Resistance is important to verify that the grounding performance of the towers has been maintained good. Towers are electrically connected in parallel with overhead grounding wire, therefore footing resistance of each tower will be measured after disconnecting the overhead ground wires from the towers. however, In this paper, three direct measurement methods of footing resistance are presented. There are very useful methods without disconnecting overhead ground wires from the tower under measurement. They are compared in KEPCO 154 kV transmission towers. The experimental results describe performances of them.

  • 본 논문에서 디지털지도를 이용하여 다중경로 전파의 특성을 연구하였다. 일반적으로 목표물에서의 전계의 세기는 직접파와 지면 반사파의 합으로 구해진다. 이 논문에서는 수직면의 장애물인 고압선, 철탑, 산악지형의 경사면 등에 의한 반사파를 고려하여 전체 전계를 계산 하였다. 그리고 지면 반사의 경우, 지면의 경사를 고려하여 목표물에서의 전체 전계의 정확도를 향상시켰다.

  • The continuous increase demand for electric power leads to the additional construction of transmission facilities, but it is not easy to acquire right-of-way for transmission facilities. Therefor, there is a need for compact tower that can be built on a narrow right-of-way the compact tower with polymer insulation arm is a solution. It can be upgrading conventional 154 kV transmission line voltages to 345 kV levels. However transmission voltage is increasing, environment interference (corona noise, radio interference, etc.) will occur gradually. This environment interference is depending on the electrical clearances of tower and configuration of conductors. Therefore the analysis of the factors of environmental interference is necessary in order to upgrading transmission voltage. This paper presents the design factor of a compact tower to meet the environmental interference standard.

  • A friction-type reinforcing member(FRM) is proposed for the purpose of upgrading wind resistant performance of a transmission tower and verified through cyclic loading tests. First, suitable install scheme of the FRM is investigated through numerical analysis. Main-post-reinforcing type and X-brace type installation schemes are examined, and numerical analysis shows that the former is more effective due to the vertical cantilever type behavior of the transmission tower. Based on this result, two types of the FRM's, dissipating energy in slotted belted connections, are proposed. The one utilizes the relative displacement between the FRM and the main post, and the other utilizes that between the separated angles consisting of the FRM as a slip deformation of the slotted bolted connection. Proposed FRM's are installed on each main post of the 1/2 scale substructure models of an actual transmission tower body. From cyclic loading tests, the latter type of the proposed FRM's dissipates energy more effectively and its slip load is controlled by applied torque well, and shares considerable amount of the axial force in the main post.
