This paper analyzes the firm's financial characteristics, influence over the adoption of the ISO 14001 adoption in our analyses. We used the T-test, a logistic regression analysis. We chose 112 Steel Enterprises from Korea Accreditation Board. The independent variables are current ratio, debt ratio, fixed assets to net worth and fixed liabilities, gross margin on sales, total assets turnover, net sales growth rate. This study tests three hypotheses on management performance of adoption of ISO 14001. The main findings are as follows. The first hypothesis is supported in terms of debt ratio, fixed assets to net worth and fixed liabilities, net sales growth rate at the 1%, 5%, 5% significance level. The second one is supported in terms of current ratio, debt ratio, fixed assets to net worth and fixed liabilities at the 10%, 1%, 1% significance level. The third one is supported in terms of gross margin on sales, total assets turnover at the 1%, 10% significance level. These findings have important implications

기업의 생산성 향상과 비용절감, 그리고 세계화로 표현되는 거래다각화를 위해 각 기업은 앞다투어 기업간 전자거래시스템을 도입하고 있다. 철강산업에 속한 기업들도 예외는 아니어서 원부자재의 구매나 철강제품의 판매분야에 인터넷 전자거래시스템을 도입하기 위해 노력하고 있다. 전자거래시스템에 의해 각 기업들은 e-marketplace를 중심으로 기업간의 상품정보를 공유하고, 가상공간에서 사이버거래를 성사시키며 거래 후 계약이행에 이르기까지 각종 업무를 인터넷을 통해 처리하게 될 것이다. 하지만 현재까지 국내에 구축된 수많은 기업간 전자거래시스템은 데이터의 표준화 부재로 인해 실질적인 효과를 나타내지 못하고 있다. 즉, 전자거래에 참여하는 각 기업이 정보의 공유나 교환에 의한 전자거래 효과를 전혀 얻지 못하고 있는 것이다. 이러한 측면에서 거래 데이터나 컨텐츠의 표준화는 기업간 전자거래 인프라의 측면에서 그 무엇보다 중요한 사항이라 볼 수 있다. 본 고에서는 현재 진행중인 철강산업 MRO(Maintenance, Repair, Operations)자재 표준화 프로젝트의 추진방향 및 문제점과 해결방안에 대해 간단히 소개하고자 한다.

우리나라최초의 철강회사는? 바로 현대제철이다. 1953년 대한중공업공사로 출발한 현대제철은 1978년 현대그룹의 일원으로 편입되었고, 2000년에는 강원산업과 삼미특수강을 인수 합병 2004년에는 한보철강을 인수하면서 인천공장과 포항공장, 당진공장 체제라는 오늘의 위용을 갖추게 되었다. 우리나라 최초의 철강사를 넘어 세계 최고의 철강사라는 새로운 역사를 써나갈 현대제철의 시발점이자 중추적 역할을 담당하고 있는 인천공장은 다양한 사회공헌활동을 펼치며, 기업이미지를 드높이고 있다.

This study examined the relationship between the type of organizational culture and organizational commitment, job satisfaction as well as the moderate effects of shared leadership on the relationship among the organizational culture, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction at a world leading steel company 'P'. The results showed that the consensus culture and rational culture positively affect the organizational commitment, and that the developmental culture, consensus culture and rational culture positively affected the job satisfaction. The results also revealed the meaningful moderate effects of the shared leadership on the relationship between the development culture, consensus culture and job satisfaction. The suggestions were made accordingly to propose the directions to improve the organizational performance of the company that is in global competition.

본 논문은 철강산업의 R&D 역량강화를 위해 IT 부문이 지원할 수 있는 정책을 모색하고 이에 대한 타당성을 검증한 사례연구이다. 기술추격형에서 기술선도형의 전환기에 놓여있는 국내 철강산업이 R&D 역량을 강화하기 위해서는 개별 철강사뿐만 아니라 대학, 연구소 등 외부와의 개방형 R&D 연계체제를 적극 추진해야 한다. 이러한 상황하에서 IT가 R&D 역량 강화를 효과적으로 지원하는 역할을 수행해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 목적을 갖는 IT 분야의 지원정책들을 개발하고 우선순위 분석, 수요분석 등을 통해 제안된 정책들의 타당성을 검토하며, Triple Helix관점에서 정부, 기업, 학계의 역할을 논의한다.

환경오염을 유발하는 산업에 대한 환경규제의 효과는 모순되는 두 가지 측면이 있다. 즉, 환경규제는 기업의 생산성 증가를 감소시킬 것이라는 생산성에 대한 부정적인 효과와 환경규제가 효율성 증대와 기술혁신을 유발시켜 생산성을 증가시킨다는 것이다. 최근 한국은 소득이 증가함에 따라 환경에 대한 인식이 점점 높아지고 있으나 철강산업의 생산성 증가율은 감소하고 있다. 이러한 경제구조에서 환경규제가 한국철강산업의 생산성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 검증하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 1967년부터 1996년까지의 한국 철강산업의 시계열 자료를 사용하여 환경규제의 총요소생산성에 대한 직 간접적인 효과를 검증하였다. 검증결과 환경규제는 한국 철강산업의 총요소생산성 감소의 31~36%를 차지하는 것으로 나타났다.

수입품이 처음으로 그 나라에 발길을 내딛는 곳, 수출품이 마지막 발걸음을 떼는 곳. 다름 아닌 항구에 대한 얘기다. 항구에서는 각종 수 출입품에 대한 하역작업이 이뤄진다. 선내 하역작업에서부터 연안 하역작업, 바지작업 등 그 종류도 다양하다. 헌데 항만하역작업에서는 중량물을 취급하는 경우가 많다. 대형 컨테이너는 물론이고 각종 원자재, 곡물 등이 배에서 싣고 내려지기 때문이다. 이에 하역작업이 진행될 때에는 작은 실수로도 대형인명 피해가 발생하게 된다. 100톤 이상의 철강제품을 하역할 때에는 더욱 그렇다고 할 수 있다. 이처럼 안전사고 위험이 상당한 철강 하역작업을 하면서도 무재해 7배수를 달성한 기업이 있어 화제를 모으고 있다. 바로 오늘 소개할 대주기업(주)이 그곳이다. 항만하역업계에서 안전과 관련해 최초라는 수식어가 항상 따라붙는 대주기업(주)을 찾아가 봤다.

In the steel industry, there is a perception that "collusion has become a long-standing practice" and it is expected that the authorities' legal response to collusion will be strengthened in the future. This necessarily requires improving the accuracy of the legal response, the most important of which is to accurately identify whether the allegedly colluding firms actually did collude. This study focuses on the recent iron scrap price-fixing case and examines whether a single accused firm actually engaged in price-fixing in a situation where there is a mix of firms that acted independently of the collusion and firms that actually engaged in price-fixing. The results of the analysis allow us to infer that the accused steelmaker did not actually collude, which is consistent with the authorities' final judgment against the steelmaker. In the real world, some collusions are carried out by only a subset of firms in a market, and in these cases, there are often disputed firms as to whether or not they carried out the collusion. This study can serve as an analytic guide for industries, including the steel industry, to verify the behavior of individual firms, especially those whose collusive practices are disputed.
