Effects of the Astronomical Learning Program using SGIM on Metacognition and Science Process Skills in the Elementary Scientific Gifted (SGIM을 적용한 천문학습 프로그램이 초등과학영재의 메타인지와 과학탐구능력에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to find the effect of the astronomical learning program using SGIM on metacognition and science process skills in the elementary scientific gifted students. For this purpose, this research developed the astronomical learning program using SGIM. This program was totally consisted 9 lessen. there was 6 part in this program. It contained select the subject and small grouping (step 1-2), planing inquiry (step 3), doing inquiry (step 4-6), making a report (step 7), announcing (step 8), evaluation (step 9). To find the effect of the astronomical learning program using sgim on metacognition and science process skills in the elementary scientific gifted students. 20 participants was selected. These students were attended at a scientific gifted class (3rd grade) of an elementary school located in Ulsan. First, metacognition test and science process skills test was used to find the effect of the astronomical learning program using SGIM. And the results were analyzed by SPSSWIN 18.0. The results of this study were as follows. First, the astronomical learning program using SGIM was a positive effects on metacognition of the elementary scientific gifted students (t=3.371, p=.001). Second, the astronomical learning program using SGIM was a positive effects on science process skills of the elementary scientific gifted students (t=3.104, p=.021). According to this research, the astronomical learning program using SGIM was verified to improve metacognition and science process skills on the elementary scientific gifted students. It will be contribute on the curriculum construction of the gifted school or gifted class.

First, Science Process Skills test and Scientific Attitudes test was used to find the effect of the Astronomical Learning Program Using IIM. And the results were analyzed by SPSS WIN 18.0. The results of this study were as follows. First, the Astronomical Learning Program Using IIM was a positive effects on Science Process Skills of elementary scientific gifted students (F=4.920, p=.021). Second, the Astronomical Learning Program Using IIM was a positive effects on Scientific Attitudes of the elementary scientific gifted students (F=11.244, p=.001). According to this research, the Astronomical Learning program Using IIM was verified to improve Science Process Skills and Scientific Attitudes on the elementary scientific gifted students. It will be contribute on the curriculum construction of the gifted school or gifted class.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an astronomy education program reflecting astronomical thinking to be used at science museum and to investigate the effect of the program on the improvement of astronomical thinking ability of high school students. After selecting the components of astronomical thinking through literature studies, we developed an astronomy education program consisting of four stages: demonstration and observation, and question and thinking, support and group discussion, demonstration and assessment. In order to verify the effectiveness of the program, we conducted a covariance analysis on the pre- and post-tests of the experimental group and control group to examine the level of students' thinking before and after using the program in teaching and learning. As a result, it was confirmed that the astronomy education program reflecting astronomical thinking was effective in promoting students' astronomical thinking ability. In particular, this program was effective in enhancing the ability of modeling by reconstructing the observed astronomical phenomenon from the viewpoint of the universe with respect to spatial thinking in the astronomy domain. It was also effective to improve the ability of organizing the system by grasping the relationship between the elements constituting the astronomical system in relation to the system thinking in the astronomy domain. This study is significant in suggesting a specific teaching and learning program to develop students' astronomical thinking.

  • 천문 분야는 다른 과학 분야와 달리 탐구대상인 천체들이 먼 거리에 있고, 실험실에서 동일 실험과 반복 실험이 불가능하며, 추상적이고 직접 관측하기 어려운 개념에 대한 연구들이 많다. 따라서 최근 인공지능, 증강현실 및 3D 프린팅 기술 등은 천문교과 교육과정과 연계하여 학생들의 지각 능력을 자극하고 실제 활동과 유사한 경험을 제공할 수 있도록 단계적인 학습경험을 도와 천문 분야 체험활동으로 연결시키고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 학생들이 망원경의 원리와 분해 및 조립에 대한 지식함양을 위해 3D 프린팅 기술과 AR을 활용하여 학생들의 천문관측 망원경에 대한 이해와 천문관련 체험활동에 대한 프로그램을 개발하여 적용하였다. 이 연구에서 개발한 프로그램은 3D 프린팅 기술을 활용하여 망원경의 세부 부품을 학생들이 직접 설계 및 제작하고, 자석을 이용하여 망원경을 조립, 분해 실습을 할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한, AR(증강현실)을 활용하여 빛을 모으는 망원경의 구조를 직접 실험을 통해 확인하고 빛의 반사와 굴절 원리를 학습하는 내용을 개발 프로그램에 포함하였다.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 PEST 방법론을 적용한 STEAM 프로그램 개발 및 적용에 대한 효과성을 알아보는 창의교육을 위한 연구이다. 특히, 이 연구는 과학문화 소외지역에 대한 이동천문대 활용 STEAM 프로그램을 개발하여 이에 대한 학생들의 수업효과 및 만족도를 알아보는 연구로, 과학 문화에 소외된 지역의 학생들에게 천문에 대한 흥미를 주어 향후 천문과학의 올바른 과학적 개념을 이해하고 미래 직업으로서 천문관련 분야에 관심을 갖도록 하는 데 있다. 이 연구에서 개발한 STEAM 프로그램은 관련분야 전문가 5명이 한국천문연구원을 통해 이동천문대 교육 프로그램에 대한 지속적인 연구와 PEST 방법론 적용 및 소외지역에 대한 현장 적합성 연구를 5회의 워크숍과 전문가 타당화회의와 Pilot test를 통해 최종 STEAM 프로그램을 개발하였다. 이 연구에서 개발된 STEAM 프로그램의 적용 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이 연구에서 개발된 이동천문대는 모든 학생들에게 천문에 대한 호기심을 자극하는 긍정적인 효과를 나타내었다. 둘째, 이 프로그램은 총 11시간의 PEST 방법을 적용한 프로그램으로, '상황제시 1차시, 감성적 체험 5차시, 창의적 설계 5차시로 구성되어 과학문화 소외지역 학생들에게 높은 수업 만족도를 나타내었다. 따라서 PEST 방법을 적용한 이동천문대 STEAM 프로그램은 학습자의 천문과학에 대한 과학적 소양과 과학적 본성을 불러일으키는데 매우 긍정적인 효과를 나타낼 것으로 사료되며, 추후 연구에서 다양한 학년과 지역 및 위계에 따른 프로그램의 개발과 적용될 필요가 있다.

First, RSM-based astronomical observation program was a positive effects on Astronomical Spatial Concept of the Scientific Gifted Students (t=3,875, p=.001). Second, RSM-based astronomical observation program was a positive effects on Self-Directed Learning of the Scientific Gifted Students (t=5.783, p=.000). According to this research, RSM-based astronomical observation program was verified to improve Astronomical Spatial Concept and Self-Directed Learning on the Scientific Gifted Students. It will be contribute on the curriculum construction of the gifted school or gifted class.

The Effects of Science Instructions Applying 3D Planetarium Software - using the unit 'Earth and Star' for the 8th grade - (3D 천문 프로그램을 활용한 과학 학습의 효과 - 중학교 2학년 "지구와 별" 단원을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of instruction applying 3D Planetarium Software (Starry Night Pro 6.0) in terms of the learners' science achievement, changes of attitude (attitude toward science as well as scientific attitude), and self-directed learning ability. Participants were 198 $8^{th}$ graders. This study adopted a quasi-experimental research design in which experimental group was taught with 3D planetarium software vs. control group with traditional lecture-centered teaching method for 6 hours. The effects were investigated by independent sample t-test and paired sample t-test The results are as follows. The instruction using 3D planetarium software was more effective than the traditional lecture-centered curriculum in science achievement and self-directed learning ability. However, there were not meaningful differences in analyzing attitudes related science, the results that were so effective in elevation for self-directed learning could be gained. Students were interested in instruction applying 3D planetarium software, which was helpful for them to understand the content knowledge. Results showed that instruction with 3D planetarium software applied was effective in $8^{th}$ grade science learning.

  • 천체투영관은 과학관이나 천문교육 시설에서 관람객이나 피교육자가 많이 찾는 인기 시설 중 하나이며 연간 200만 명이 방문하는 비형식학습의 준비된 장소이다. 현재 국내에 운영되고 있는 약 80여개의 천체투영관들은 대부분 별자리 해설과 돔영상물 상영, 과학콘서트, 천체관음악회, 전문가 강연 등의 프로그램을 운영하고 있다. 이제 국내에서도 설계된 비형식 학습 환경을 갖춘 천체투영관을 천문학 교육에 효율적으로 활용할 수 있도록 학교교육과 연계된 프로그램을 개발하고 운영하는 방안이 연구되어야 한다. 해외 과학관에서 운영되고 있는 비형식 과학교육과 학교 과학교육의 연계 프로그램의 사례 등을 조사하고 국내 천체투영관에서 활용할 수 있는 천문학 교육 연계 프로그램을 개발하는 것이 시급하다. 이번 발표에서는 개편된 교육과정이 반영된 연계 프로그램에 대해 소개하고 천체투영관을 천문학 교육에 효율적으로 활용할 수 있는 방안에 대해 관계자들의 의견을 듣고자 한다.

  • 이 연구는 한국천문연구원에서 진행한 2019 하계 교원천문연수의 초급·중급과정 교육 프로그램에 대한 교사들의 인식 조사 및 개선방안을 찾는데 목적을 두었다. 교육청에서 인정한 직무연수프로그램인 2019 하계 교원천문연수는 현대 천문학의 동향과 지식을 일선 학교에 전달하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 이 연수는 초등교원을 주대상으로 한 초급과정은 2019년 8월 5일부터 7일까지, 중등교원을 주대상으로한 중급과정은 8월 7일부터 9일까지의 일정을 두고 실시되었다. 본 연구는 각각의 교육 과정이 교원 직무연수프로그램의 교육 목표를 충분히 따르고 있는지를 알아보자 사전, 사후조사 설문지를 개발하여 초급과정과 중급과정에서 각각 30여명, 20여명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 이때 사전조사 설문지는 기본 인적정보, 연수 참여 동기, 천문 관측 활동 경험 여부에 관한 것으로 10문항이, 사후조사 설문지는 교수 학습 프로그램의 내용면에서 지적 및 정의적 만족도, 진로지도 유용성, 향후 수업 활용성, 개선사항에 관한 것으로 20문항이 개발되었다. 설문조사 결과가 도출 된다면, 본 직무연수프로그램이 내용적인 면에서 교사들의 천문학에 대한 지적·정의적 향상 및 향후 일선 학교에서의 프로그램 보급 활용성을 높이기 위해 어떻게 수정·보완해야할지 개선점을 제시해 줄 것으로 기대된다.

Effects of Astronomical STEAM Program Using Co-teaching on Self-Directed Learning Attitude of Elementary Science Gifted Students (천문 STEAM 프로그램에서 코티칭의 활용이 초등과학 영재학생의 자기주도적 학습 태도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of astronomical STEAM program using co-teaching on self-directed learning attitude. For this purpose, we developed an astronomical STEAM program and applied it to elementary science gifted students. Thirty six, $5^{th}$ and $6^{th}$ grade elementary science gifted students were participated in this study in total having 16 students in experimental group and 20 students in control group. The results were described as follows. First, astronomical STEAM program using co-teaching was effective in improving self-directed learning attitude. Second, the program was effective in improving participants' openness to learning opportunities and problem-solving. Third, students were satisfied with the co-teaching that provided ample feedbacks and detailed explanations, and teachers perceived that co-teaching was helpful to overcome a lack of professional knowledge, and to solve difficulties of evaluation and preparing teaching materials for STEAM classes. With findings, we discussed implications for co-teaching of STEAM lessons to improve students' self-directed learning attitude at the end of paper.
