Advanced Error Tracking Algorithm for H.263 (H.263에 적합한 개선된 에러 트래킹 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, an advanced error tracking algorithm by using feedback channel was proposed for error resilient transmission. Using this proposed algorithm, the propagation of errors were reduced within the decoded data over bit error prone network. The addresses of corrupted blocks are reported to encoder by decoder. With negative acknowledgments of feedback channel, the encoder can precisely calculate negative acknowledgments and track the propagated errors by examining the backward motion dependency for proper pixel in the current encoding frame. The error-propagation effects can be terminated completely by INTRA refreshing the affected macro-blocks by using proposed error tracking algorithm. By utilizing the selective four-corner error tracking approximation, the error tracking computations of the proposed algorithm is less than that of the algorithm using full pixel without substantial degradation in video quality. The proposed algorithm can track errors rapidly and accurately.

Performance Analysis of M-ary Impulse Communications over AWGN Channels (AWGN 채널에서 M진 임펄스 통신의 성능 분석)

  • 본 논문에서는 최근 제한적으로 사용이 승인된 UWB(초광대역: Ultra-Wideband) 통신을 AWGN 하에서 다중 접속을 고려하지 않은 단일 사용사일 경우로 가정시, M진 값이 변화함에 따른 에러율과 성능 개선 기법으로 BCH를 채용시의 에러율을 비교 분석하였다. 기존에 연구되어 오던 변조로 PAM(Pulse Amplitude Modulation)과 PPM(Pulse Position Modulation)방식을 비교하였으며 에러율 $10^{-6}$을 기준으로 M=2, 4일 경우 PAM이 PPM보다 약 E$_{b}$/N$_{o}$ =3~4[dB], M=8 이상의 경우 PPM이 약 E$_{b}$/N$_{o}$ =9[dB], M=16일 경우 약 E$_{b}$/N$_{o}$ =15[dB]정도 성능이 우수하였다. AWGN 채널 하에서 에러 정정 부호인 BCH(15,7)를 도입하였을 경우 에러율 $10^{-6}$을 기준으로 PAM방식은 약 E$_{b}$/N$_{o}$ 가 약 1[dB], PPM 방식은 M=2, 4일 경우 약 E$_{b}$/N$_{o}$ =1~1.5[dB]정도 개선되었다.

  • In this paper, a new improved EREC based error resilient coding in JPEG-2000 standard is proposed, considering the error sensitive wireless environment with limited channel capacity. In order to apply EREC, we use the variable bit-rate by using R-D optimization. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed EREC based error resilient coding is more resilient than the error resilient schemes used in JPEG-2000.

  • 에러 발생율이 높은 이동 통신 채널 환경에서는 부호화된 비디오 스트림 전송시 발생된 채널 에러는 비디오 화질에 큰 영향을 줄 수 있다. 본 논문에서 현재 널리 사용되고 있는 H.263 부/복호화기에서 전송도중 에러가 발생했을 경우 추가적인 데이터 삽입 없이 효율적으로 에러를 은닉할 수 있는 기법에 관하여 제안하였다. 특히, 영상신호는 대개 인트라 픽쳐와 인터 픽쳐로 크게 구분되는데, 이들 중 부호화된 스트림에서 발생빈도가 놀은 인터 픽쳐에 대한 오류은닉을 우선적으로 목표로 하였다. 인터 프레임 픽쳐에서 DFD나 움직임벡터 손실시, 정확히 복원된 손실된 매크로블럭에 인접한 주변 픽셀 4*4을 이용해서 이전픽쳐에서 움직임벡터을 추정하고, 추정된 움직임 벡터을 가지고 손실된 매크로블록을 복원한다. 이때 주변블럭의 움직임벡터 추정시 소요되는 계산량은 충분히 디코더측에서 수용한다는 전제하에서 실험하였다.

  • We propose a multi-access points transmit power control algorithm in consideration of the channel estimation error and the multi-rate service. In the real communication systems, the channel estimation at the receiver side is imperfect due to limited number of pilot symbol usage. Furthermore, the multi-rate service is supported. We theoretically prove the uniqueness and the convergence of the proposed algorithm in multi-rate service environment. The proposed algorithm composes of one inner loop part and one outer loop part. Simulation results show that 1) the inner loop algorithm guarantees convergence of the transmit power level and the multi-rate service, 2) the outer loop algorithm compensates for the channel estimation error.

  • OFDM technique uses multiple sub-carriers for the data transmission. Therefore, bit error rate increases because of inter-carrier interference caused by nonlinear high power amplifier and carrier frequency offset. Wireless OFDM transmission over multi path fading channels is characterized by small transmission gain in multiple sub-carrier frequency interval. Therefore bit error rate increases because of burst errors. Inter-leaver and convolution error control coding are effective for the reduction of this burst error. Pilot symbol is used for the channel estimation in OFDM systems. However, imperfect channel estimates in this systems degrade the performance. The performance of this convolution coding OFDM systems using inter-leaver, gauged by the bit error rate, is analyzed considering the nonlinear high power amplifier, carrier frequency offset and channel estimation error.

  • 비균등 에러 보호에 의한 IMT-2000용 CDMA 순방향 링크의 성능개선 방법을 나타 내었다. 제안된 방법의 성능은 다경로 페이딩채널 및 BPSK변조에 대한 CS-ACELP 음성부 호화기 및 RCPC 채널부호화기를 이용하여 분석되었다. CS-ACELP 부호화기의 비트 에러 감도 정보에 근거한 연계성능분석 결과제안된 방법은 SEGSNR이 0.4∼1dB 개선되었다. 또 한 총전송율 및 전력제어비트를 펑처링하지 않고도 기존 구조를 유연성있게 변경 가능하다.

An efficient method and performance analysis for burst synchronization/error detection using cyclic codes (순환코드를 이용한 효율적인 동기/에러 검출 방법 및 성능분석)

  • Cyclic Codes can be used for burs(or time slot) synchronization as well as error detection as that the overhead bits of the burst, which would be nessary to seperate burst synchronization and error detection systems, may be eliminated. In this paper a new method for combined burst synchronization and error detection is proposed which requires CRC decoding once only, while the previous method which inspects channel error after searching for burst synchronization requeires CRC decoding twice. The proposed method has the advantage of simple implementation and reducing processing time over the previous one, still showing the same detection perfdormance. It may occur that a burst different from the actually transmitted one is falsely accepted in the presence of channel errors. The exact expression for the false acceptance probability is newly presented through a simple derivation basied on the fact that it is determined by channel errors but not by detection methods.

Error Detection and Concealment of Transmission Error Using Watermark (워터마크를 이용한 전송 채널 에러의 검출 및 은닉)

  • There are channel errors when video data are transmitted between encoder and decoder. These channel errors would make decoded image incorrect, so it is very important to detect and recover channel errors. This paper proposes a method of error detection and recovery by hiding specific information into video bitstream using fragile watermark and checking it later. The proposed method requires no additional bits into compressed bitstream since it embeds a user-specific data pattern in the least significant bits of LEVELs in VLC codewords. The decoder can extract the information to check whether the received bitstream has an error or not. We also propose to use this method to embed essential data such as motion vectors that can be used for error recovery. The proposed method can detect corrupted MBs that usually escape the conventional syntax-based error detection scheme. This proposed method is quite simple and of low complexity. So the method can be applied to multimedia communication system in low bitrate wireless channel.

  • In this paper, we discuss the effect of imperfect knowledge of the transmission channel on the M-QAM SER performance of space-time block codes. Because the channel knowledge is used for decoding of space-time block codes, the imperfect channel knowledge can degrade the performance of space-time block codes. In this paper, the channel mismatch error is modeled as errors in the estimation of the channel due to noise and errors due to the variation of the channel. We derive the analytic expression for the symbol error rate (SER) as a function of the average signal to interference ratio (SIR) per channel including the terms of channel mismatch errors. Simulation results show that the acceptable levels of channel estimation error is 10$\^$-3/ and that of channel variation is f$\_$d/T$\_$B/=0.001 at SNR=20dB in space-time block codes.
