Reproductive Capacity of the Genus Lespedeza(1) (싸리류(類)의 재생능력(再生能力) (제(第)1보(報)))

  • In order to investigate reproductive capacity of genus Lespedeza 5 spp,; L. bicolor, L. maximowiczii, L. japonica var. intermedia, L. angustifolioides, and L, cyrtobotrya, their hights, diameter at the ground level, and the number of sprouts were compared with each other at the end of October during investigating years from 1970 to 1972. For measuring of invested items, 6 stocks which the one-year aged stem were cut above ground were randomly planted per square meter with six replications at the spring of 1970. After hights, diameter, and the number of sprouts were measured at the end of October every year, the stem were cut above ground at the end of November from 1970 to 1972. The results are as follows: 1. The reproductive of the stems showed statistically significant differences at 1% level by species and stock ages. L. bicolor showed the best reproductive capacity of them. 2. The sprouting ability was revealed that L. maximowiczii showed the best of them. 3. The reproductive capacity of stem, diameter, and number of sprouts increased with aging of stock up to 4 years on the investigated 5 species.

Identification of Grovesinia moricola Causing Zonate Leaf Spots on Lespedeza cyrtobotrya in Korea (참싸리 겹둥근무늬병균 Grovesinia moricola 동정)

  • In September 2017, a heavy damage by premature defoliation with the zonate leaf spots was observed in several shrubs of Lespedeza cyrtobotrya growing at Mt. Obongsan in Chuncheon, Korea. Numerous cone-shaped, white sporophores of a fungus were observed on lesions of the abaxial leaf surface. A similar fungus was isolated in September 2019 from the leaves of L. cyrtobotrya growing at Mt. Taegisan in Hoengseong, Korea. The morphological characteristics of the sporophores were consistent with those of Grovesinia moricola. The species identification was confirmed by sequencing the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of the ribosomal DNA from the two isolates (KACC48417 and KACC48934). The fungal pathogenicity was determined by an artificial inoculation in conditions of relative humidity and temperature of 100% and 15±2℃, respectively. This is the first report of association of G. moricola with L. cyrtobotrya in Korea.

Effects of the Physicochemical Properties of Lignocellulosic Artificial Soil Containing Bacillus subtilis on the Growth of Lespedeza cyrtobotrya (Bacillus subtilis가 함유된 목질계 인공토양의 물리·화학적 특성이 참싸리 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, we prepared lignocellulosic artificial soil that contains Bacillus subtilis (peat moss/perlite/ steam-exploded oak wood/microbial culture = 3:1:3:3, w/w/w/w) for use in the restoration of damaged soil areas. The prepared lignocellulosic artificial soil was mixed with soil at ratios of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. These mixed soils were then applied to fields, and the resultant physicochemical properties and their effects on the plant growth of Lespedeza cyrtobotrya were observed. The mixture of the prepared artificial soils (mixed at ratios of 25%-100%) with soil had a bulk densities of <$0.04g/cm^3$, porosities of >85%, pH values between 4.3 and 4.7, electrical conductivities of <0.5 dS/m, C/N ratios between 15.0 and 26.5, organic matter content between 23.6% and 43.2%, and bacterial densities between $157{\times}10^6$ and $624{\times}10^6CFU/g$. In addition, the prepared artificial soils mixed with soil at ratios of 25%-50% exhibited higher plant growth rates for L. cyrtobotrya compared with the control. Overall, we identified positive correlations between the plant growth of L. cyrtobotrya and soil bulk density, porosity, water-holding capacity, C/N ratio, organic matter, and bacterial densities.

Effects of Calcium Chloride and Eco-Friendly Deicer on the Plant Growth (염화칼슘과 친환경 제설제가 식물의 생장에 미치는 영향)

  • This article presents an effect of deicer such as $CaCl_2$(calcium chloride) and EFD(Eco-Friendly Deicer) composed by organic acids on the survival and growth of plant. Pine and bush clover which are main natural species on the road side, and young radish and kidney bean which are cultivation species used in this test that responses of survival and growth were analyzed as grade concentration of deicers. Bush clover showed the most sensitive survival response among 4 species to the deicer. Pine growth didn't have statistical significance as the kind of deicers and concentration variation, but growths of bush clover and kidney bean showed growth inhibition in concentration more than 3% of $CaCl_2$ and EFD1. The results of survival and growth for $CaCl_2$(calcium chloride) demonstrated that young radish and pine are tolerant species and bush clover and kidney bean are sensitive species. Although EFD1 manufactured by chemical showed the negative effect on the survival and growth of plants, EFD2 made with waste compost was confirmed that it has the positive influence to the survival and growth of the both sensitive and tolerant plant species for chloride.

The Cuttings of the Genus Lespedeza (싸리류(類)의 삽목시험(揷木試驗))

  • This study was investigated the methods of vegetative propagation for new Lespedeza varieties. Experimental matterials were used 6 Lespedeza species; L. maximowiczii, L. cyrtobotrya, L. angustifolioides, L. bicolor, L. maximowiczii var. tomentella, and L. japonica var. intermedia. In April a year branches were cut 15-20cm length and 3-4mm thickness and planted in sand bed (depth 150cm) to be sterilized by the 0.1% solution of Uspulun. And then the cutting beds were irrigated and shaded. The results are as follows. 1. The rooting rates of the cuttings could be found so variable among varieties from 69% of L. maximowiczii var. tomentella to 50.3% of L. japonica var. intermedia. 2. The growth performance showed statistically significant difference at 1% level among varieties. L. maximowiczii was the best, while L. japonica var. intermedia showed the wrost growth performance of them. 3. The average number of roots with more than 5 cm length per stock was revealed statistically significant difference at the 1% level among varieties from the greatest number of 6.4 of L. maximowiczii var. tomentella to the smallest number of 2.3 of L. japonica var. intermedia. 4. Total average length of the roots per stock was statistically significant so different at 1% level from the longest 279.8cm of L. maximowiczii var. tomentella to the shortest 41.1cm of L. japonica var. intermedia. 5. The average ndules with more than 1 mm in diameter per stock was statistically significant so different at 1% level among varieties from the greatest number of 34.4 of L. maximowcizii to the smallest numqer of 4.6 of L. japonica var. intermedia.

Effects of Lyophyllum shimeji Inoculation on the Mycorrhizal Formation and Seedling Growth of Lespedeza cyrtobortya (땅찌만가닥버섯균(菌)의 접종(接種)이 참싸리 묘목(苗木)의 균근형성(菌根形成)과 생장(生長)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • For the application of ectomycorrhizal seedlings on damaged slope lands, studies on cultural characteristics of Lyophyllum shimeji and ectomycorrhizal associations of Lespedeza cyrtobotrya seedlings were carried out by artificial inoculation of L. shimeji. Mycelial growth of L. shimeji was best on MP (1% malt extract, 0.1% peptone, 1% glucose and 1.5% agar) medium. An optimum temperature and pH for the mycelial growth were $25^{\circ}C$ and pH6, respectively. Mycorrhizal root of L. cyrtobotrya seedlings inoculated with L. shimeji showed characteristics of ectomycorrhizas with Hartig net. Growth rate of the mycorrhizal seedlings's roots was higher than that of non-mycorrhizal seedlings. When the mycorrhizal seedlings were transplanted in slope land, survival rate and dry weight were 62% and 850 mg/seedling, respectively. On the other hand, survival rate and dry weight of non-mycorrhizal seedlings were 11% and 430 mg/seedling, respectively.

  • It has intended to identify the members of the Genus Lespedeza in Korea by a chemical colour reaction, and the following five species of the Genus Lespedeza grown in the garden have been used in this experiment. 1. Lespedeza bicolor Turcz 2. Lespedeza bicolor var. melanantha (Nak.) T. Lee 3. Lespedeza cyrtobotrya Miq. 4. Lespedeza japonica var. intermedia Nakai 5. Lespedeza maritima Nakai 6. Lespedeza maximowiczii Schneider 7. Lespedeza maximowiczii var. tomentella Nakai A few drops of each solution of $K_2Cr_2O_7$. $FeSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$, $FeCl_3$, $KH_2PO_4$, $KMnO_4$, $NH_4OH$, and HCl was added to the methanol extracts of wood dust to get the specific colour reaction. HCl-infused wood was also used for the identification of L. bicolor var. melanantha and L. bicolor. The results can be summarized as the following key; 1. Variation in the Pattern of Isoperoxidase Bands in the Four Parts of Lespedeza cyrtobotrya Miq. (참싸리 부위별(部位別) 과산화(過酸化) 동위효소형(同位酵素型)의 변이(變異))

  • In order to study the variations of isoperoxidases of four parts of L. cyrtobotrya, leaves, secondary phloem, fibrous root, ovary were collected on september 29, 1975, respectively from 12 individuals which were planted in the compound of Institute of Forest Genetics, suwon, Korea. No variation of isoperoxidases appeared among the same parts which were collected from the same individual. There was a great variation in the pattern of isoperoxidase band among the 12 individuals in leaves, secondary phloem, fibrous root, and ovary. Regarding to the common occurrence band, the number was 7 in the leaves, secondary phloem, and fibrous root, while 35 bands were appeared in the ovary part. These was a great variation of occurrence band in four parts of Lespedeza. But the number of band in the parts of the Lespedeza was 4.50-5.16 on average, on the other hand there was no significant difference. No variation was observed in the activity of isoperoxidase in leaves. On the other hand, there was small varation in the secondary phloem, fibrous root and ovary.

Development of Revegetation Measures using Boring Technique in Rock Slopes - Focus on Lespedeza cyrtobotrya - (암반비탈면에 있어서 천공기법에 의한 녹화공법의 개발 - 참싸리를 중심으로 -)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of early revegetation by analyzing the characteristics of germination and growth of Lespedeza cyrtobotrya using boring technique in rock slopes. After making up a growing basis of approximately 20 cm depth and 10 cm diameter by using a boring machine, the surface of rock slopes was planted with vegetation-plant. The number of germinating populations by soil media was 23 in H.s, 22 in T.s, 12 in M.s, and 1 in M.g.s. The germination rate (%) by soil media was 19.2% in H.s, 18.3% in T.s, 10.0% in M.s and 0.8% in M.g.s. In monthly changes of growth rate, the aspect was northwest direction, the soil media was M.s, and the treatment was microorganism plot. The main factors affecting survivorship and growth of population were soil media and treatment plot. The interaction between each factor had a good effects in bearing ${\times}$ soil media, bearing ${\times}$ treatment plot, soil media ${\times}$ treatment plot. but, it is recommended that the mulching of vegetation plant is highly needed to help the germination of seed and growth of vegetation because of loss of seed and soil media occurred due to rainfall. Therefore, The result suggests that the revegetation technique using boring in rock slope was very efficient in respect of the early revegetation and the landscape.
