Effect of Psyllium Husk, Pectin and Cellulose on the Lipid Concentrations and Hemobiochemical Enzymes in Rats (차전자피, 펙틴 및 셀룰로스 함유 식이를 급여한 흰쥐의 지질농도 및 임상생화학적 지표 효소에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the effects of different kinds of dietary fibers, cellulose, psyllium husk, pectin and the Psyllium husk Plus Pectin, on the lipid concentration and hernobiochemical enzyme activity in male Sprague-Dawley rats. The experimental groups were divided into four groups : the cellulose group, the psyllium husk group, the pectin group and the psyllium husk Plus Pectin group. Dietary fiber was supplemented at 10% (w/w) levels in the diet. Body weight gain, food intake and relative tissue seight were not significantly different among the dietary groups. Concentrations of triglyceride and phospholipid of serum in the psyllium husk and the pectin groups were significantly lower than those of the cellulose and the psyllium husk plus pectin groups. Concentration of total cholesterol of serum in the psyllium husk plus pectin group was lower than other dietary groups. However, concentrations of triglyceride and phospholipid of liver in the psyllium husk and the pectin groups were significantly higher than those of the cellulose and the psyllium husk plus pectin groups. The hemobiochemical Parameters, total protein, albumin, glutamic pyruvic transaminase, glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase and blood urea nitrogen in serum of the psyllium husk group were lower than other dietary groups. These results showed that dietary psyllium husk could have lowering effects on serum triglyceride concentration without any side effect of hemobiochemical enzyme activity in rats.

Effects of Psyllium Husk Content on the Physical Properties of Extruded Rice Flour (차전자피 함량에 따른 쌀 압출성형물의 물리적 특성)

  • This study was performed to determine the effect of psyllium husk addition on the physical properties of rice extrudates. Rice-based formulations mixed with psyllium husk (0, 7, 14 and 21%) were extruded at a die temperature of 140℃, screw speed of 200 rpm, and moisture content of 20%. As the content of psyllium husk increased, expansion ratio decreased, while piece density and specific length increased. Apparent elastic modulus, breaking strength, adhesiveness, and hardness augmented with an elevation in psyllium husk content. Lightness declined as psyllium husk content furthered, while redness, yellowness, and color difference intensified. Water soluble index and water absorption index increased with an increased amount of psyllium husk. In conclusion, the addition of psyllium affected the expansion of extruded rice snack possessing hard texture, small cells, and sticky texture due to higher water absorption during hydration.

Effects of Psyllium Husk and Glucomannan on Serum Lipids, Fecal Fat Excretion and Body Fat in Rats Fed High-Fat Diet (차전자피와 글루코만난의 혼합 첨가가 고지방 식이를 한 흰쥐의 혈청지질과 변지방배설 및 체지방에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to determine the effect of a mixture of two water-soluble dietary fibers, psyllium husk and glucomannan, on serum lipids, fecal fat excretion and body fat. Twenty one female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned into three groups (control, pair-fed control and test group) and fed a high saturated fat (20% lard) diet (control diet) or a test diet (psyllium husk and glucomannan added to the control diet at the level of 0.9% and 0.68%, respectively) for 8 weeks. Pair-fed control rats were allowed to eat the amount of diet consumed by test group the preceding day. The body weight gain and food efficiency ratio of test group were significantly lower compared with these of control group. The mean values of body weight gain and food efficiency ratio were lower in test group than in pair-fed control group, but the difference was not significant. There were no differences in food intake. The dry weight and water content of feces and fecal fat excretion were markedly greater in test group than in control groups. Serum total cholesterol and triacylglycerol levels were significantly lower in test group than in two control groups.1'he rats of two control groups had higher body fat contents than that of test group. These results indicate that the combination of the two water-soluble dietary fibers, psyllium husk and glucomannan, can be used as a potent lipid-lowering agent in individuals consuming high saturated fat diet.

Effects of Emulsifier Additions on the Physical Properties of Extruded Psyllium (유화제 첨가에 따른 차전자피 압출성형물의 물리적 특성)

  • This study aims to investigate the physical properties of extruded psyllium husk upon the addition of emulsifiers. Three different emulsifiers-glycerol monostearate (GMS), polyglycerol ester (PGE), and sugar ester (SE)-were added to the mixture of psyllium husk and rice powder before extrusion. Extrusion was performed using a twin-screw extruder at 140℃ die temperature, 200 rpm screw speed, and 16% feed moisture content. The physical properties of psyllium husk extrudates including expansion ratio, specific length, piece density, texture profile, color properties, water soluble index, and water absorption index were evaluated. It was observed that the expansion ratio was the highest while the specific length and piece density were the lowest in the control which had no emulsifiers. Texture profile analysis showed that the apparent elastic modulus and breaking strength were highest in the extrudate with a PGE of 0.1%. The adhesiveness was found to be lowest in the extrudates with an SE of 0.1% and GMS of 0.5%. Lightness value was highest in the extrudate with a PGE of 0.1%. Color difference, water soluble index, and water absorption index were highest in the control. The results reveal that some physical properties of extruded psyllium husk were improved with the addition of emulsifiers. This finding provides useful information for the development of psyllium snacks with good physical characteristics.

  • 최근 고령화 사회로 들어섬에 따라 치매 노인 환자가 해가 갈수록 급증하고 나아가 치매환자 뿐만 아니라 보호가 필요한 미취학 아동, 장애인 등 실종사고가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 자신이 길을 잃었다는 것을 인지하지 못하고 잇따라 2차 사고가 발생하는 경우가 많다. 이렇게 사고가 빈번하게 발생하게 되면 보호자의 입장에서는 같이 외출을 하거나 피보호자를 혼자 두고 외출을 하는 것이 많은 부담이 될 수밖에 없다고 판단하였다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 현재 위치추적을 기반으로 한 다양한 제품들이 있지만 통신사간의 복잡한 가입절차, 실종 시 2차사고 예방을 위한 대안이 없는 것 등 그 제품들을 사용자가 사용하는데 있어서 많은 제약이 있었다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 아두이노를 활용하여 이러한 문제점을 개선하여 피보호자의 위치를 스마트폰의 어플리케이션으로 실시간 확인할 수 있도록 하고 보호자가 설정한 일정 반경의 기준점을 벗어나게 되었을 때 경보음 알림과 동시에 긴급기관 신고전화 기능을 추가하여 빠른 초동조치로 연이은 2차 사고를 예방할 수 있게 함으로써 보호자가 외출 시 심리적으로 안심할 수 있는 GPS위치 추적시스템에 대해 기술하였다.

Reliability of Cu Interconnect under Compressive Fatigue Deformation Varying Interfacial Adhesion Treatment (유연소자용 기판과의 접착 특성에 따른 구리 배선의 압축 피로 거동 및 신뢰성)

  • Electronic devices have been evolved to be mechanically flexible that can be endured repetitive deformation. This evolution emphasizes the importance of long-term reliability in metal wiring connecting electronic components, especially under bending fatigue in compressed environments. This study investigated methods to enhance adhesion between copper (Cu) and polyimide (PI) substrates, aiming to improve the reliability of copper wiring under such conditions. We applied oxygen plasma treatment and introduced a chromium (Cr) adhesion layer to the polyimide substrate. Our findings revealed that these adhesion enhancement methods significantly affect compression fatigue behavior. Notably, the chromium adhesion layer, while showing weaker fatigue characteristics at 1.5% strain, demonstrated superior performance at 2.0% strain with no delamination, outperforming other methods. These results offer valuable insights for improving the reliability of flexible electronic devices, including reducing crack occurrence and enhancing fatigue resistance in their typical usage environments.

Effects of Different Dietary Fats and Fibers on the Lipid Concentrations of Liver and Serum and Biochemical Index in Rats (흰쥐의 간장 및 혈청 지질농도와 임상생화학적 지표에 미치는 식이섬유 및 식이지방 급원을 달리한 식이 투여의 영향)

  • This study investigated the effects of different types of dietary fats and fibers on the concentrations of serum and liver lipids and biochemical index in male Sprague-Dawley rats for 6 weeks. The experimental groups were divided into three groups; 5% corn oil +5% cellulose (CO group),10% corn oil +10% psyllium husk (CO +PH group) and 10% lard +10% psyllium husk (LA+ PH group). Body weight gain and FER (food efficiency ratio%) decreased significantly in the LA+PH group and decreased slightly in the CO+PH group compared with the CO group. Food intake and tissue weights were not significantly different among the dietary groups. Concentrations of serum total cholesterol decreased significantly in the CO + PH group compared with the CO group, but no significant different in the LA + PH group. Concentrations of serum triglyceride and phospholipid decreased significantly in the CO+PH and the LA+PH groups compared with the CO group. Liver cholesterol concentration was significantly decreased in the LA+PH group compared with the CO and the CO+PH groups. Glutamic pyruvic transaminase activity was significantly increased in the LA + PH group compared with the CO and the CO + PH groups. However, lactate dehydrogenase and blood urea nitrogen was significantly decreased in the LA+ PH group compared with the CO and the CO +PH groups. The others biochemical parameters, total protein, albumin, glucose, glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, alkaline phosphatase were not significantly different among the dietary groups. These results showed that the lowering effect of dietary psyllium husk on serum lipid concentrations was more pronounced in the corn oil -feeding group than in the lard-feeding group as dietary fat source.

  • 본 논문은 연속적인 수화 동영상에 있어서 가장 의미가 있는 손 영역을 검출하는 방법에 대한 연구이다. 부자연스러운 센서 등을 피하고 사용자 친화성과 범용성 및 실시간 구현을 도모하기 위하여 흑백 동영상의 처리가 요구된다. 농아자의 수화를 인식하기 위해 전철로서, 복잡한 배경으로부터 손 영역의 검출은 매우 중요하다. 정확한 손 영역의 검출로 수화 인식률의 개선과 영상처리의 고속화가 가능하다. 제안한 방법은 인접한 프레임간의 차 영상에 대하여 엔트로피를 측정하여 배경영상과 분리를 행한 후, 손 영역에 대한 추적을 수행하였다.

Brain-Machine Interface Using P300 Brain Wave (P300 뇌파를 이용한 뇌-기계 인터페이스 기술에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a computationally efficient method detecting the P300 wave for brain-machine interface. Electrophysiological researches have shown that the P300 wave's potential is decreased when human intention matches visual stimulation. Motivated by this fact, we can infer human intention for brain-machine interface by detecting the P300 wave's potential decrease. The P300 wave is recorded from EEG(electroencephalogram) electrodes attached on human brain skull after giving alphabetical stimulation. To detect the potential decrease in P300, firstly we statistically model the P300 wave's negative potential. Then we infer human intention based on maximum likelihood estimation. The proposed method was evaluated on the data recorded from three healthy human subjects. The method achieved an averaging accuracy of 98% from subject k, 90% from subject j and 79.8% from subject h.
