Development of Predictive Pedestrian Collision Warning Service Considering Pedestrian Characteristics (보행자 특성을 고려한 예측형 보행자 충돌 경고 서비스 개발)

  • The number of pedestrian traffic accident fatalities is three times the number of car accidents in South Korea. Serious accidents are caused especially at intersections when the vehicle turns to their right. Various pedestrian collision warning services have been developed, but they are insufficient to prevent dangerous pedestrians. In this study, P2CWS is developed to warn approaching vehicles based on the pedestrians' characteristics. In order to evaluate the performance of the service, actual pedestrian data were collected at the intersection of Daejeon, and comparative analysis was carried out according to pedestrian characteristics. As a result, the performance analysis showed a higher accordance when the characteristics of the pedestrian is considered. Accordingly, we can conclude that identifying pedestrian characteristics in predicting the pedestrian crossing is important.

  • A pedestrian collision warning system which makes a judgement of pedestrian's intention to help avoiding hitting accidents is proposed. This system uses the image sequences obtained from a car black box as well as vehicle's speed obtained from a GPS. It detects pedestrians, if any, based on the Histogram of Gradient method and extracts several information such as the pedestrian's relative positions, the direction of motion vectors, and distance between vehicle and pedestrian . A fuzzy logic based on these extracted information is applied to analyze the pedestrian's safety levels. When the safety level is determined to be danger, an alarm is triggered to the driver. The performance of the proposed algorithm is tested under various driving scenarios, which shows it works successfully in real-time.

  • A car accident on a highway occurs a chain-reaction collision because of a vehicle's fast velocity. In order to prevent it, the accident vehicle should broadcast a safe message to its neighbors. If there are many neighbor nodes, a frame collision probability is high. To solve this, it was proposed for a system as a previous study to send a safe message without frame-collision using separating channels. However, the separation of multiple channels make feasibility low because of increasing hardware's development cost and complexity. In this paper, we proposes a TDMA-based MAC protocol using a single channel. As a result, we show the frame reception success rate of our protocol was almost the same as the previous protocol.

  • A vehicle radar has been studied to avoid the collision of vehicles. A vehicle radar using direct sequence-ultra wideband (DS-UWB) measures the distance between a vehicle and an objective with a sufficient time margin. Therefore, the receiver should estimate the distance by processing the short UWB pulse rapidly. There have been several investigations for distance measuring based on DS-UWB signals. In this paper, we propose a novel method for rapid measuring processing time. Simulation results show that the proposed method has a shorter processing time than the conventional method.

안전 운전 보조시스템의 제작과 기초측정 실험

  • 자동차 이용자 수가 증가 할수록 자동차 사고로 인한 피해도 많이 늘어나고 있다. 이러한 자동차 사고를 사전에 예방하기 위해서는 운전자의 상태 및 현재 차량 상태를 파악하여 사고를 미리 방지함으로서 운전자의 안전을 보조할 수 있는 시스템이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 안전운전을 보조하기 위하여 졸음운전 여부 감지 시스템, 후진시 후방 안전거리를 감지하는 시스템, 쾌적한 운전 환경을 위한 실내 환경 측정 시스템, 주차 시 생길 수 있는 사고에 대한 감시시스템을 센서와 MCU등을 이용한 임베디드 시스템을 구현 하였다.

  • This is the second of two companion papers that describe the performance assessment for flexible rockfall protection systems. Described in a companion paper is the criteria to assess the performance of flexible rockfall protection systems. In this study the performance assessment of domestic rockfall protection fences was implemented using the criteria suggested in the companion paper. It was investigated that the rockfall protection fences for express highways performed well to resist the rockfall energy of 50kJ and the deformed rockfall protection fences right after impacting would not obstruct the vehicle traffic. However, to dissipate the rockfall energy of 50kJ with the level of European standards constantly, the spacing of wireropes was adjusted to be 200mm up to the 8th wirerope from the bottom and spacing-maintainers should be extended to the 8th wirerope. It was figured out that the rockfall protection fences for general highways were required to install spacing-maintainers as those for express highways because they, which did not have spacing-maintenance members, were very prone to the penetration of rockfall even for the very small rockfall impact energies.

  • 본 논문은 차량 충돌 방지 장거리 레이더용 고 이득 77-GHz CMOS 전력 증폭기를 제안한다. 이러한 회로는 1.8볼트 전원전압 및 77-GHz의 주파수에서 동작한다. 제안한 회로는 TSMC $0.13-{\mu}m$ 혼성신호/고주파 CMOS 공정($f_T/f_{max}=120/140GHz$)으로 설계되어 있다. 전체 칩 면적을 줄이기 위해 가능한한 많은 부분을 실제 수동형 인덕터 대신 전송선을 이용하였다. 제안한 회로는 최근 발표된 연구결과에 비해 가장 높은 전력이득과 가장 작은 칩 면적 특성을 보였다.

  • In this study, a car-door-controlled collision protection system using proximity sensor is proposed and its preliminary analysis and several preliminary experiments are conducted. The proposed system has three additional sub-components on the car-door that is, a pair of extra electro-magnetic actuator that are attached to the sliding bar of the open/close car-door four-bar mechanism, a proximity sensor that would be attached to the outside surface of the door which is likely to frequently contact to the object and a driving control circuit of the whole system. A proximity sensor is used to detect object close to the car-door, the driving control circuit provides actuating power command to the electro-magnets to generate braking force to stop the swing motion of the car-door. It is verified through kinematic analysis of the four-bar car-door open/close mechanism and through experiments that the magnitude of maximum electronic magnetic force could provide the braking force enough for this application. For this purpose, an electro-magnet driving circuit is implemented and tested. And also to increase the safety of the system a time delay circuit is implemented and tested.

  • 위상배열 안테나 시스템에서 빔 제어 기술은 이동통신 및 위성통신시스템, 비행하고 있는 임의의 비행체의 위치를 고도의 정확도를 가지고 추적하는 군사용 레이더 시스템이나 항공사의 통신 시스템, 선박이나 차량간의 충돌을 방지하기 위한 충돌방지 시스템 등에서 널리 사용되고 있다. 이러한 위상배열 안테나 시스템에서 위상천이기를 이용하는 방법이 널리 사용되고 있다. 이 방법은 원리적으로 간단하지만 실제 구현할 때 위상천이기를 제어하기 위한 제어 신호와 DC 바이어스 라인들 그리고 전력분배기로 구성되어 있기 때문에 전체 회로가 복잡해진다. 뿐만 아니라 현재로서는 위상천이기의 가격과 삽입 손실 때문에 저렴하고 높은 이을 갖는 위상 배열 안테나 시스템을 구현하기가 힘들다. 본 논문에서는 위상천이기를 사용하지 않고 발진기들의 결합을 이용함으로써 이와 같은 단점을 극복하면서 배열 안테나의 복사 빔을 제어할 수 있는 결합발진기 배열 안테나의 최근 기술동향을 분석하고 여러 기술들의 장단점을 기술한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 대구경북과학기술연구원에서 개발한 77GHz FMCW ((Frequency Modulation Continuous Wave) 충돌방지 레이더 테스트 시스템에 대하여 소개한다. FMCW 레이더 개발에 적용된 기능 및 구현에 대하여 소개한다. 개발된 시스템은 RTS (Radar Test System)과 연동하여 성능을 검증하고, 차량에 장착하여 실제 주행시험을 실시하였다. 개발된 시스템은 150m의 거리까지 검출이 가능하며, 1024~8192point FFT를 적용하여 1km/h, 0.5m의 속도 및 거리 분해능을 제시하고 있다.
