A Study on the Dynamic Wheel Loads of 3-D Vehicle Model Considering Tire Enveloping (타이어 접지폭을 고려한 3차원 차량모델에 의한 동적 차륜하중에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, research for dynamic wheel loads of 3-D vehicle model considering tire enveloping model is carried out. Heavy trucks with 2-axles and 3-axles are modeled by 7-d.o.f. and 8-d.o.f., in which contact length of tire and pitching of tandem spring axles is considered. Dynamic equations of vehicle are derived by using the Lagrange's equation and solution of the equation is calculated by 5th Runge-Kutter method. The validity of the developed 3-D vehicle model is demonstrated by comparing the results obtained by the present method and experimental data by Whittemore. The maximum impact factors of tire force are calculated when vehicle models of 8ton and 15ton dump truck are running on the different class roads with 1.0km and on the various step bump.

  • The deck of steel box girder bridges is composed of deck plate, longitudinal rib, and transverse ribs. The orthotropic steel decks have high possibility to fatigue damage due to numbers of welded connection part, the heavy contact loadings, and the increase of repeated loadings. Generally, the local stress by the repeated loadings of heavy vehicles causes the orthotropic steel deck bridge to fatigue cracks. The increase of traffic volume and heavy vehicle loadings are promoted the possibility of fatigue cracks. Thus, it is important to exactly evaluate the structural behavior of bridge considering the contact loading area of heavy vehicles and real load patterns of heavy trucks which have effects on the bridge. This study estimated the effect of contact area of design loads and real traffic vehicles through the finite element analysis considering the real loading conditions. The finite element analysis carried out 4 cases of loading patterns in the orthotropic steel deck bridge. Also, analysis estimated the influence of contact area of real truck loadings by the existence of diaphragm plate. The result of finite element analysis indicated that single tire loadings of real trucks occurred higher local stress than one of design loadings, and especially the deck plate got the most influence by the single tire loading. It was found that the diaphragm attachment at joint part of longitudinal ribs and transverse ribs had no effects on the improvement of structural performance against fatigue resistance in elastic analysis.

  • In this paper, numerical analysis method to perform linear dynamic analysis of bridge considering the road surface roughness and bridge-vehicle interaction when vehicle is moving on bridge is presented. The vehicle and bridge are modeled as three-dimension where contact length of tire and pitching of tandem spring are considered and single truck with 2-axles and 3- axles, and tractor-trailer with 5-axles are modeled as 7-D.O.F., 8-D.O.F., and 14-D.O.F., respectively. Dynamic equations of vehicle are derived from the Lagrange's equation and solution of the equation is obtained by Newmark-${\beta}$ method. The surface roughness of bridge deck for this analysis is generated from power spectral density (PSD) function. Beam element for the main girder, shell element for concrete deck and rigid link between main girder and concrete deck are used. The equations of the motion of bridges are solved by mode-superposition procedures. The proposed procedure is validated by comparing the results with the experimental data by Whittemore and Fenves.

Development of Vehicle Classification Method using Discriminant Function Based on Detection of Dual Tire (주행차량의 복륜 여부 판정을 통한 차종분류 방안)

  • Traffic volume is essential data for traffic control or maintenance and rehabilitation planning. The volume especially with respect to the type of vehicles can facilitate to those road operations. In this research, a method for vehicle classification was developed using skewed sensors which can generate traffic signatures. In order to characterize vehicle types, the method investigates whether the second axle of each vehicle consists of dual tires. The presence of dual tire is determined by the discriminate function obtained from discriminant analysis. The validation using 1,878 vehicles recorded from a highway using a CCTV camera indicated significantly accurate results: 96.92% for class 1, 82.91% for class 3 and 79.13% for class 4.

  • 본 논문은 차량 컨트롤러 메인보드 개발에 있어 DC-PLC 방식으로 One-wire만으로 전원 공급 및 접지로 사용하도록 하여 센서 데이터 처리 및 구동 장치를 작동시키는 방법을 제안한다. 복잡한 배선을 피하기 위해 별도의 통신선을 설치하지 않고 기존 배선(wire)를 이용하며, 센서로부터 수집된 데이터를 처리하여 구동 장치를 작동시키는 명령을 전달하도록 설계한다. 본 논문은 제어장치에 들어가는 배선을 간단히 하고 차량 내부 상태를 점검하고 제어하는 기술을 설계하고 구현코자 한다.

A single truck with four axles is modeled as a 10-D.O.F. vehicle by modeling both contact length of tires and pitching of tandem spring axles. The dynamic equations of the vehicle are obtained using the Lagrange's equation, the solution of the equations is calculated by Newmark-${\beta}$ method. The validity of the developed 3D vehicle model is demonstrated by comparing results obtained from the proposed method with those from experimental data. The maximum impact factors of tire force are evaluated according to the various step bumps on which a 24-ton dump truck is running.

  • Recently, it is frequently reported that fatigue damages of deck slabs and floor systems of highway bridges occur under the conditions of increasing weight and traffic of heavy vehicles. These troubles are affected by dynamic wheel load of heavy vehicles running on roadway surface roughness with bump at expansion joint. It is required that this kind of traffic-induced vibration of highway bridges must be analyzed by using three-dimensional models of bridge and vehicle. In this study, the three-dimensional dynamic analysis is carried out, and dynamic responses of deck slab and wheel loads of moving vehicle are estimated according to different vehicle speeds and bump heights. Analytical responses of bridge deck slab are compared with experimental ones which were measured at Umeda entrance bridge of Hanshin Expressway in Osaka.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel feeding method that uses a windshield ground in a vehicle. The feeding method enables for various antennas to integrate easily in a vehicle windshield. To connect a coaxial feeding cable directly to the windshield ground, we inserted a coaxial-to-ground adapter between the cable and the ground, and reflection coefficients using the proposed feeding method were compared to that using a conventional feeding method. The size and position of the windshield ground were optimized in order to achieve a high radiation gain in the azimuth direction. Then the triangular WiBro patch antenna, incorporating the proposed feeding method, was designed and installed on a rear windshield of a commercial sedan. The antenna using the proposed feeding method shows a similar reflection coefficient, and it shows 2 dB increased average azimuth radiation gain compared to that using a conventional sash ground method. These results demonstrate that the proposed feeding method can be applicable for integrating multiple antennas in a rear windshield.

A Study on Slow Rolling tire for Prediction of the Tire Forces and Moments (회전하는 타이어의 접지면 동특성 예측에 관한 연구)

  • It is known that tire plays an important role to the dynamic performances of a vehicle such as noise, vibration, ride and handling. Therefore, force and moment measurements have been a part of the traditional tire engineering process. In this paper, a computational analysis technique has been explored. A FE model is made to simulate inflation, vertical load due to the vehicle weight, and the slow rolling of a radial tire. A rigid surface with Coulomb friction is included in the model to simulate the slow rolling contact. The tire slip during the in-plane motion of the rigid surface is calculated. Results are presented for both lateral and vertical loads, as well as straight ahead free rolling. The calculated and measured tire slips are in good correlation. Analysis of Return Current by Common Earth on Electrical Line of the Gyeongbu Line (경부선 전철화 구간에서의 공동접지에 의한 귀선전류 분석)

  • Electrical Railroads provide electric power, which can operate vehicles, via feeder wires. And the supplied current returns to the transformer substation through lines and ground net. In domestic cases, the configuration of ground net affecting such a return current mostly uses an exclusive earth method. However, along with the introduction to Gyeongbu HSL(High Speed Line), the concept of Common Earth was applied to Electrical Railroads. In this paper, based on the return currents analyzed to be measured in the electrified sections for the operation of High Speed Rails in existing lines, we analyze the relations between earth methods and return currents in electrified sections. For analysis, we utilize the measured values of return currents measured in track circuits in Gyeongbu HSL, and predictive values of those compared to the earth methods between Gyeongbu HSL and the existing electrified sections.
